    Nightclub fire in Quito?

Anyone know where Factory was located? I don't recall that name in gringolandia. Anyway, had to be a messed up situation.

No need to be overly-paranoid, but I advise fellow mongers to know where the exits are in these monger spots that we frequent. In some of the nightclubs and chongos that I've gone too, there was barely any room to move. A couple of places that come to mind for me would be Touch Me and gringolandia disco No Bar. Just be cognizant.

Fire at Ecuador Nightclub Kills at Least 14
    Sunday, April 20, 2008

QUITO, Ecuador — Flames started by fireworks swept through a nightclub in Ecuador's capital on Saturday, killing at least 14 people who were unable to escape through the club's padlocked doors, a fire official said. Sixteen people were injured.

About 300 people were attending an afternoon event at the "Factory" club in southern Quito when someone lit fireworks, sending sparks upward that ignited material on the ceiling, Quito Fire Chief Jaime Benalcazar told The Associated Press.

"The exit doors were closed and padlocked," he said. People were trapped inside.

After controlling the blaze, officials removed 14 "completely burned" bodies from the club, Benalcazar said. Some 16 others were injured — four seriously and 12 with minor burns, he said.

Raul Carrera, who worked with the club's sound system, managed to escape with others through the club's bathrooms.

"We couldn't save anyone because everything was steam and thick smoke. It was really hot," Carrera said.

He said he lost one of his friends but couldn't look for him because "everything started falling ... there wasn't time for anything."

"There were people with extinguishers but they weren't able to put out the flames," he said.

Inspectors were investigating whether proper security measures had been in place.

The event had been a music awards ceremony.

    Mini-Rotation

Left the hotel yesterday around 2:30 in search of Club122. "My" map was close, but I first went the wrong way on Juan Murillo. There were dives that way, but more public ones.

For those pioneers and explorers, I applaud you. Quito may be one of the toughest places on earth to identify a ***** house-- even when standing in front of it. You are truly a savvy group.

Anyway, I was let in what seemed to be a construction entrance into the patio. From there, I had to skirt by the warm beer salesman in the front to get in.

Once in, I was rather shocked. It was a weird, dark atmosphere. There were tons of people, distributed almost evenly. I would say 30-40 girls with as many guys. There are several rooms with sporadic chairs, benches and couches. Not only were they all taken, but not an inch of wall space remained to lean against. I was left standing in the open appearing to be as bored as everyone else was while holding my plastic bag of "authentic" DVD"s purchased down the street when I went the wrong way.

I found different rooms to mope around in and tried various postures to ease the odd tension of standing around in the middle of a room not knowing anyone. There were a fairly high number (if not percentage) of very young, pretty girls. I ended up chatting with a particularly hot Guayaquil native who had been there all of two weeks. She spoke no English, so I muddled through in Spanish. She was very sweet and seemed to laugh naturally at my canned lines, which is a good sign. I was ready to go until she flat turned me down on the oral sin condom. I don't mind that from time to time, but with so little time and not being that happy with the surroundings, I blew it. Or, rather she blew me off and left after I sat paralyzed in thought for too long.

On my way into the bathroom, I ran into a nightmare of a man. He was a stoned, drunk, large native with serious testosterone going on. He spoke a little English and guided me to the bathroom and stayed. On the way out, he would put his arm around me holding me close saying "I was his friend." He showed me his visa stamp for his recent trip to Atlantic City where he fought in the heavy weight division.

So, I did everything I could to act oblivious to his obvious primal effort to assert his physical domination of me, and tried to figure out how to escape. I just went to the bathroom so I couldn't use that one, and had a new beer to go with the one I bought him. He then introduced me to 2 other equally-inebriated/high friends. Fortunately, there was a smaller guy next to them who made a rather overt effort to warn me to get away. I guess my act that I was unconcerned was successful to that point. When my big buddy got annoyed at the other guy and started asking what he was saying, I just said it had nothing to do with me, but I had better go. They made a half-hearted attempt to stop me, but I angled through the large crowd, gave my full beer to the bouncer who drank it in a swallow, and left at a brisk pace.

So, enough drama for the day. Nothing sounded better than going to 843 for the first time and getting a nice, quiet massage with a happy ending. That's what I did, taxiing it there, then walking through the park back to Gringolandia.

The massage by Malena was nice. Medium-to-soft touch, starting with the toes and working her way up. There was a sensual component the whole time. After the flip, she offered an okay HJ with lfk and almost a BBBJ. You know what I mean, a lot of posturing without ever going at it in earnest.

She was medium build, very solid from the waste down and fantastic, responsive, and natural D's. She was 25 (claims) and has a very sweet smile.
For a $10 fee, an unsolicited $5 tip, and no large natives with chips on their shoulders, a wonderful time.

On the way back, I stopped at Guajira. I've read where the quality has been suspect. OMG, no kidding. I kept a tally on my fingers: 12 Elephants, 2 in transition, and 3 pretty good ones. I know all you need is one, but the others were more aggressive and, again, there were some VERY drunk locals, although half the size of the first ones. The place was in fairly good shape, though, with nice tiled floors constantly being cleaned, recently-painted walls, and COLD beer.

Back in Gringolandia, I once again hooked up with two aggressive young girls. I know all they probably want is free entrance to and drinks at the discoteches, but it was still very, very nice. I mean, she was as hot as any girl I'd seen that day and flat told me she wanted a boyfriend like me several times. It was a tremendous flirt session. I was supposed to go change into nighttime attire and call her back or call her this morning for a day tour, but I did neither deciding I'm not in this for lovey-dovey dates. Actually, I'm afraid I would like it too much.

So, my evening ended at 11PM with an adorable 24-year old girl hoping I would call. Crazy.

Then jump on and mess with it! What I did was just a start and an experiment for here. I don't come to Quito as much as other places, but there is more data to start with than most places.

They actually have a sign up in Nitecats now that says something like 'Ask for help if need a translator in Spanish' or something to that effect. It kind of made me laugh because they had it written in Spanish above the English.

At first, I will keep the map open to collaboration from anyone. I will save private copies from time to time to make sure it isn't ruined. If that doesn't work, I'll extend Google Collaboration Authorization to any semi-reputable member who wants to add items to the map. Even adding a few things would be great. It is not hard, although the search function only yields sporadic results.

    So, here are the steps:

    1. Send me a PM to indicate you would like to participate. If you send me your email address, I will add you as a collaborator so, if and when I privatize that function, you will be all set.

    2. Open the maps, and add Chongos, Massage places, or even favorite restaurants.
    a. At the bare minimum, the text in the box of an entry MUST have exact address, closest cross street, Ficha price and rough idea of hours. Any other description would be helpful.
    b. Stick with the coding process until we make a better one: RED= Expensive, MUAVE= $16-20, Yellow= $11-15, Green = $10 or less.

Surely all of us together can make Tung's contribution live on forever through a process like this.

I haven't done this before, but I think it would be much better if you followed the steps to collaborate rather than saving it to your maps. That way, the single document will evolve rather than having dozens of disjointed maps floating around.

I will check PM's every few days and add those interested in contributing. In the mean time, I'll add some more today, although I have to go mongering.

    Pre-report

    Hi guys,

Me and a buddy are going to Quito for the 2nd time (1st time without chaines around our legs. I. E. Our old ladies) to get back to our old mongering habits. Our normal town is Cali, can't imagine anything even comparing but we hear lots of Colombian girls come to Quito to work. I'm arriving on Sat. , my buddy is coming in on Sunday. I don't speak much Spanish since I've always gone mongering with my buddy who is fluent. First question. Is Tungurahua a permanent visitor in Quito, any chance of pairing up with him and buying him some p for a tour? 2nd question, if I'm alone with little spanish, is it better to wait for my buddy or don't even think about waisting a Sat. Night in Quito? If the advice is to hit it, any one area or clubs safer than another? The other question is, in Cali we had a lot of success getting hooked up with girls at the clubs, slipping them a number and having a morning session with them and usually another friend they would bring by the hotel. Any reports of that kind of action? I'm seeing on the board different prices. One person says $8 at Club 221, another says 40, which is it? I promise a detailed report when we get back with photos. Maybe even share a few from our Cali days.

    Thanks in advance

    Casa next to NightKat

Can someone that has been there post a report on the casa (chongo?) a few doors down from NightKat? Days of operation, quality and price? I hope it's not just the same girls from NightKat moonlighting over there. The girls in NightKat were HUGE when I was there a few weeks ago. They plumped up big time in the 6 months since I was there last.

    Hotels and Massage

Thanks Mraughh. I did a quick check of the website and it looks like there are places advertised there that are probably in line with what I am looking for. I will check some out.

I dont know the exact address, but it's a combination gym and spa. I think there's one at the gym at Plaza de los Americas also.

Cumbaya has one at the Fybecca complex on Interoceanica and theres one more close to the central park area where all the restraunts are.

I've seen advertisements for outcall massages in the newspapers also. No idea on the prices. Those would most likely be sex/massage. Link below.

Note that Masajes Medellin is listed there, which is a chongo.

On the massage question then, I will assume that average or above average massage may not be readily available alongside other services. I will report back if I come across any worthy of mention.
