    Help me choose hotel

Last year, it was Lima. This year it's Quito. I've been searching for a Quito place to stay (for a week in early March) that will be under $25/night. Emailed a half dozen and have (initially) narrowed the list to three...

    - Hotel Cayman (http://www.hotelcaymanquito.com/home_eng.html), in the heart of La Marsical

    - Majestic Hotel (http://www.majesticquito.com/index.html), just north of La Marsical, in Santa Clara neighborhood

    - Folklore Hotel (http://www.folklorehotel.com), in La Floresta

If this helps you help me... I'm a 50 year-old, internet-addicted, budget monger who likes to walk and is unlikely to bring guests to the hotel. Not very into the non-pro scene, or the party crowd. My Spanish is decent enough to function pretty well. Forced to choose between a safer neighborhood and a nicer room... I'd choose the safer neighborhood.

I'd appreciate comments on the above alternatives, or totally fresh suggestions. Thanks.

    Arrived in Quito

I'm in Quito. Arrived last night on time at 10:30. COPA was nice enough to give me a free upgrade to First Class without asking for it because I was traveling with my broken leg and wheelchairs through the airports. Didn't fare as well on my second flight with first class (that time I asked). Damn I had a plane full of hotties. Must have been 50+ hot chicks on the plane in a big group. Two that were a little older sat next to me. Chatted with them some.

Was raining last night. It hasn't been too cool here so far. I've been hanging out in the hotel waiting for my chick to arrive. She got delayed from Colombia. I don't feel really very safe going out too much with my crutches without one or two people with me to run interference. I'll stay in tonight. I'm still happier here even though I can't really get out to the chongos right now. At least I'm around people. I'm ahead in the casino so far. So far I haven't seen many/any young chicks in the casino. There's usually a decent selection.

The airport taxi driver said they raised the fare to $6 from $5 because of higher costs. Not sure if this is true.

The problem is, they work on Ecuador time - just like Tico time in CR. They do what they want when they want to. They don't see the point of being someplace on time. As long as they are there within an hour or two of the agreed upon time, they are on time. That's got to be one of the biggest adjusting factors for americans going to those countries. We expect them to be on time like americans generally are - or at least within a few minutes. The problem with that is that there are no consequences for not being on time.
Regular workers are like that too, drives me nuts and I've fired about a hundred people for being late constantly lol. Yeah I agree with you on Guajira, I used to go there around 1130 or noon last year and the girls would always be around.

However, if you purchase land and/or a house, especially in a small town or rural area, you will need to have a local person looking out for the place, either living there or guarding it somehow.

A big city condo is a safe move.
So there are squatters rights in Ecuador? If that's true, I wouldn't want to buy anything. You would have to have a full time person (non ecuadorian) living there to keep it safe.

    discount coupon

Anyone know if that ORBITZ coupon that was floating around a few months ago is still valid? It had significant savings for hotels. I'm staying in a higher end hotel the first night because it has an elevator and I've stayed there before. I might want to add a day though if I feel too lazy to get out the next day.

    El Swing: Bolivia 120 y 10 de Agosto. 9PM-2AM

Café Rojo: Juan Holguin 117 y Av. Amazonas, Aeropuerto 12-10

This is the reserve list: Club 122, Touch Me, 3 Star, Sala VIP
As others mentioned, Extasis is a higher end place. There's Doll House. You'll waste a lot of money in these places though. You can find the same girls in other places working during the day. They are fun to check out once though to see the difference. There are lots of Colombians in places like Doll House. I've personally been in both. By all means, if you don't care about the money though, try them.

NightKats is hit and miss. It's one of my places I like to hangout because I feel safe there. The quality and quantity of the girls comes and goes. NightKat opens before 9pm but doesn't get busy until 11pm or so. It's open in late afternoon. It's open past 2am too. I believe i've been there as early as 6am.

No matter where you go, make sure you don't do any tabs. Pay for each drink as you get it. Padding of tabs isn't unheard of.

Guajira is a favorite of mine. Been there more than anyplace. It's near reina victoria y Orellana. It's a few blocks from NightKats.

I arrive Friday and can go around with you a little bit if you need some help.

I don't care too much about budget on this trip, so if anyone knows an even more upscale club or escort service, let me know.

I don't mind paying a little bit extra for my type of girls: big boobs (silicone prefered),long nails, totally shaved pussy.

    Quito, see ya soon

If budget it not an issue you may want to check out a club called 5/15 aka.cinco quince. I believe its one of the most upscale clubs but reasonably priced compared to north america.

El swing aka. El stinko might be a waste of time. Its not much more than a low end strip bar with possible take out options($70)....look for the girl covered in tattoos. She seems to be a board favorite lol.

Better to dig into your reserves...I liked touch me.

    * Oops ezinho already mentioned it and I can't erase the message. Sorry

    Wiild,

If money is of no concern to you, and you like silicone and the likes, you might want to give this website a try while you are in Quito:

    http://www.firstclass.com.ec/

I've never used it but it was recommended to me by a local; some of the girls are supposedly models and TV stars. Prices seem to range from $150-300 an hour. No one has ever reviewed escorts on here before, so that would be nice if you could try it out and let us know if it's worth it. There are some other escort web sites as well, I no longer have the web addresses but they're somewhere here on the Quito thread.

Also, you might like the high-end clubs, like 5-15 and Extasis. Check out Tungurahua's guide for the locations of these clubs.

Of the clubs you mentioned, maybe with the exception of Cafe Rojo, they're all pretty stinky, both figuratively and literally! You really need to prepare yourself mongering in some of those clubs. Try to keep your expectations low, and you'll have a good time.

The in places come and go and some are exclusive so only with a local know they are there. I could never fault the 515.

Wish I would have read your message before going to VIP David, I got there around 1:30pm and there was only 1 girl, colombiana, which I took upstairs. I talked to the guard and he said they rest usually get there around 4 to 5 pm.
