I agree with the above. Most of what comes out of mouths is purely a waste of breath.

Even if you learn fluid Spanish, it won't matter in places like VIP 3 Star in Quito where the music is so loud, that even if they were speaking ENGLISH you could barely understand them. Or go to Guayaquil where the chicas show no mercy and speak hyper-rapidly in machine gun fashion.

unfortunately i think selection is on the decline at present. for visitors scheduled in early dec and late jan don't worry about it, you're primed to blow in your pants so selection won't be a problem for you.
