Does anyone know if the La Luna complex (Son Cubano, Coco Bongos, etc.) in the south of Quito is still open? I'm finding conflicting reports online.

FYI. I checked Guajira and Dioses at 1273 Diego de Almargo and 270 La Niña, respectively, last night. 23 March 2011, about 11 PM and both were closed, chained shut. Akershuz at Reina Victoria and Wilson was open and operating, but it was dismal. Fat girls and doors closed at 2 AM.

That price of $150 for three days is very good, almost too good. I would be a little careful with it. Maybe the car is small, old and crappy. Maybe the guy will later say it's extra to go to Otavalo. Maybe some other baloney. Maybe the guy is not a real driver, just some buddy, and wants a few extra bucks.

The going rate for a real driver, maybe even a bilingual one, is $9-$11 per hour to take you around, which comes to about $100 per day, often more. Note that it's VERY important to the driver how much time and miles he will actually be using the car v. How much down time. They like it when you go to an activity and they have to simply wait without using the car (or gas). Be sure to get all of this stuff clear before heading out or you will get mixed up in some wacky after-the-fact-negotiations and that's not where you want to be.

I will be in Quito soon. One of the guides that my friend here has gotten me in touch with wants $150 for 3 days of car rental. Of course he will be there all the time and I don't have to drive. Is that normal price for a car rental along with driver for 3 days in Quito. I will be using the car to go to Otavallo and other areas surrounding Quito. Please advice

This report is a bit old but I think I owe the boards alot of replies as I've read more that I've wrote in the past few years. I only passed through Quito for one night on a backpacking trip through south America two years back. For those who don't know about the scene there I Rtff and decided to head out to Cafe Rojo which is right across the road from the Airport. It was slightly hard to find at first. Its on one of the smaller side streets perpendicular to the airport. Found it paid my 5dollars entry and headed in. Other people may disagree with me by after almost circumnavigating the South American continent I thought some of the hottest "Babes" I'd seen were working here. I really couldn't believe the tits and ass on some of these chicks.

If I remember correctly there was a free drink, maybe, included in the price so I sat there talking in my rubbish Spanish to a customer watching the chicks. I moved over to a couch so I could be closer to the girls and I spotted one totally boobalicous / bootilicous babe. Still can't believe those jugs were real! Her big ass, massive tits and small waist were fuping yum yum! I really pounded her hard and she loved it! I think I paid almost 20dollars for 20minutes. Can't remember her name but she was hooooot! As were many, many chicas in that club that day.

Finished up and went back to the hostel to listen to some dirty hippies talkin trash about how great life is.

Anyway, I would highly recommend this club for anyone passing through town or even catching a connecting flight with time to kill. Imagine the smile on your face flying home from Quito international.

I was today at massaje Medellin, address 110 Menses y La Gasca , and had my worst experience in Ecuador so far.

When you enter there, they just make you sit. Then the girls come one by one and say there name. I chose "Caroline", cute-looking girl. Then a young guy wearing a short came back and asked for 23$, which I guess include the entrance but no drink was proposed as it is the case in all other chongos.

Caroline just makes rip-off service, as in the worst RLD you may imagine, she does all the possible to make you uncomfortable and does not make anything. She just puts papers on you and say crap. As I was protesting, she said OK let's cancel the ficha, another girl will come instead, no hay problema.

Then 5 minutes later she came back with another mood, saying that I m a fool and I will never get anything as I saw her naked! I called her a liar but of course she didn't care. I heard lots of laughings downstairs.

Then the guy came back and said that if I want another chica, that will be 23$ more!

I went downstairs but didn't leave the place. I waited until the guy would speak to me, indeed he came and said that he is sorry, but he can't do anything because the ficha "is registered in the system" bla bla bla, and that she did put off her clothes. I argued that she said that I could change girl as we didn't do sex, tried to ask for at least part of my money back, but he would just repeat his speach. Notice that he took me to the yard to talk, because there was other potential customers in the place.

Totally bullshit place, someone already said that it s crap and I should have avoided. Hope you won't make the same mistake, as there are plenty of other places in Quito.

I will be coming to Quito soon (last week of March). Can any one suggest some good accommodations. I am thinking of making reservations at the Andino Hotel. Seems reasonably priced and close all the hot-spots. Let me know if you have any recommendations.

Now this is where it gets dicey. I was walking down Amazones Avenue back to my hostal, which is a well lit street with lots of pedestrian traffic. The time was around 10 pm. As I ventured close to a street corner, I noticed an arm reach out from behind me. In a flash I was on the ground and being choked. I'm not a large man, so it didn't take much for me to be wrestled to the ground. As I layed there, two other guys rushed up and began rummaging through my pockets. I had left all my valuables back in the hotel, and the muggers only got $35 from me.

The last time I was in Quito, I met a British guy who told me that he had the exact same thing happen to him. He was choked until he nearly passed out. Whenever I walked down Amazonas or any street late at night, I never walked on the sidewalk close to the buildings since muggers tend to lurk in the dark doorways. I always walked as close to the street as possible and sometimes in the street. . . However, it's still possible to still get mugged.

I'm back home now after spending 12 days in Ecuador, split evenly between Quito and Cuenca. I don't really have a whole lot new to add to the forum over what's already been presented here previously. But here's a hashing of what I found while in Quito:

Gentlemen, don't discount the affects of Quito's high altitude on a man's performance. It took me around 3 days to get rid of a dull throbbing headache which I attributed to the high altitude and effects of jet lag. I'm a middle-aged guy who is in reasonably good shape, but I still found myself gasping for air after climbing stairs and walking up hills for the first few days of my visit.

Yes, most of the La Mariscal chongos listed on Tungurahua's 'Central Quito 2' map dated 11-28-08 have been closed down. I spent a day walking around to just about all of them, and found most doors locked with no signs of life.

The only one I found open during the day was #20 from Tung's map, listed as the 'Las Diosas' sauna. I can't remember if that's the actual name of the place, but it is indeed posted accurately on the map and was open as of 2 weeks ago. Coming from the center of La Mariscal, I walked down Juan Mera until I reached La Nina street, then turned right and walked 3 blocks. The place is on the left side of La Nina street in a blue and white building (building number 270).

I showed up at 3:30 pm and encountered no signs of life as I entered through the front door. I walked up the stairs in the direction of music and was met at the top of the stairs by the 'boss', who was a hard-looking yet very pleasant lady in her late 30's.

My Spanish language vocabulary consists of about 20 words, while her English skills weren't much better. But the only words a guy there needs to know are 'cerveza' and 'cuanto cuesta'. No entry fee, but she asked if I wanted a cerveza, which of course I did. Pilsner for $3.

There were 3 ladies working that afternoon, with no other customers sitting in there. None of the ladies were stunners, but all were doable based on my standards. By far the most attractive one in my eyes was Paola, aged 23. She was wearing a black pleated mini skirt and low cut top with some high CFM heels, which of course I really liked.

She and I spent a few minutes trying to converse, but my high school Spanish knowledge made that futile. So I motioned to the boss that I wanted her, and asked for the price, which was $20.

I have read horror stories about the quality and hygiene of rooms within Quito chongos, but the room we used wasn't all that bad. The sheet on the bed looked reasonably clean and the room even had its own bathroom. Nothing spectacular about the sex. Routine and efficient, but very good. Covered BJ, but it helped that the condom she used was a thin one which provided really good sensitivity.

Paola gave a nice patient BJ, which eventually got me standing at attention. Unfortunately, when it came time to do the deed, she was tight and dry, and no amount of pushing was going to force Little Joe inside. Can't remember her name, but she was age 28, cute face but had one of those flabby stomachs that so many Ecuadorian women have by age 30. Wearing some skin tight white denim pants with 5 inch heels. Ooo la la. We walked to a nearby Hostal, where I paid the desk clerk $5 for the room.

The walk from where I met her to the hostal was nice. She held my hand and seemed genuinely glad to be with me. I told her she was 'muy bonita' and she told me I was 'muy guapo'. Hey, it ain't love but it was as good as I wanted that night.

Luckily the experience was absolutely awesome. We entered the room and she started kissing me, thrusting her tongue down my throat and gyrating her hips into mine. We navigated to the bed and spend a couple of minutes deep throating each other, then we managed to get undressed and started the kissing up again. Finally she brought out a condom and started getting busy with a spirited sucking technique. Finally I was ready for the finale'. Joe likes to be verbal when he's in action, so I kept saying to her 'Te Quiero', and she would reply 'Si Si'. Over and over as she kept bucking like a bronco. I consider myself street-savvy, but I never noticed anyone behind me until it was too late.

Gentlemen, please don't make the same mistake I made. I love the thrill of picking up streetwalkers, but there is no way on God's green earth I'll ever do it again in Quito. To me, the Mariscal district has the same gritty feel as Tijuana, and is probably just as unsafe. I never felt unsafe there during the day, but at night there are a lot of unsavory men and women hanging around.

Thank you for your honesty. I once picked up a SW in the same area. While she was undressing in the room I noticed her hiding something. It wound up being a razor and it seemed like she wanted to put it in her mouth. Don't know. I left for the lobby in my underpants where I changed back into my street clothes. Luckily it was a crap hostal so I didn't care. Quito is a dangerous city no doubts about it.
