I'm back home now after spending 12 days in Ecuador, split evenly between Quito and Cuenca. I don't really have a whole lot new to add to the forum over what's already been presented here previously. But here's a hashing of what I found while in Quito:

Gentlemen, don't discount the affects of Quito's high altitude on a man's performance. It took me around 3 days to get rid of a dull throbbing headache which I attributed to the high altitude and effects of jet lag. I'm a middle-aged guy who is in reasonably good shape, but I still found myself gasping for air after climbing stairs and walking up hills for the first few days of my visit.

Yes, most of the La Mariscal chongos listed on Tungurahua's 'Central Quito 2' map dated 11-28-08 have been closed down. I spent a day walking around to just about all of them, and found most doors locked with no signs of life.

The only one I found open during the day was #20 from Tung's map, listed as the 'Las Diosas' sauna. I can't remember if that's the actual name of the place, but it is indeed posted accurately on the map and was open as of 2 weeks ago. Coming from the center of La Mariscal, I walked down Juan Mera until I reached La Nina street, then turned right and walked 3 blocks. The place is on the left side of La Nina street in a blue and white building (building number 270).

I showed up at 3:30 pm and encountered no signs of life as I entered through the front door. I walked up the stairs in the direction of music and was met at the top of the stairs by the 'boss', who was a hard-looking yet very pleasant lady in her late 30's.

My Spanish language vocabulary consists of about 20 words, while her English skills weren't much better. But the only words a guy there needs to know are 'cerveza' and 'cuanto cuesta'. No entry fee, but she asked if I wanted a cerveza, which of course I did. Pilsner for $3.

There were 3 ladies working that afternoon, with no other customers sitting in there. None of the ladies were stunners, but all were doable based on my standards. By far the most attractive one in my eyes was Paola, aged 23. She was wearing a black pleated mini skirt and low cut top with some high CFM heels, which of course I really liked.

She and I spent a few minutes trying to converse, but my high school Spanish knowledge made that futile. So I motioned to the boss that I wanted her, and asked for the price, which was $20.

I have read horror stories about the quality and hygiene of rooms within Quito chongos, but the room we used wasn't all that bad. The sheet on the bed looked reasonably clean and the room even had its own bathroom. Nothing spectacular about the sex. Routine and efficient, but very good. Covered BJ, but it helped that the condom she used was a thin one which provided really good sensitivity.

I was quoted prices between $20 to $25. My second night of looking, I finally chose a gal who really turned me on. Can't remember her name, but she was age 28, cute face but had one of those flabby stomachs that so many Ecuadorian women have by age 30. Wearing some skin tight white denim pants with 5 inch heels. Ooo la la. We walked to a nearby Hostal, where I paid the desk clerk $5 for the room.

The walk from where I met her to the hostal was nice. She held my hand and seemed genuinely glad to be with me. I told her she was 'muy bonita' and she told me I was 'muy guapo'. Hey, it ain't love but it was as good as I wanted that night.

Luckily the experience was absolutely awesome. We entered the room and she started kissing me, thrusting her tongue down my throat and gyrating her hips into mine. We navigated to the bed and spend a couple of minutes deep throating each other, then we managed to get undressed and started the kissing up again. Finally she brought out a condom and started getting busy with a spirited sucking technique. Finally I was ready for the finale'. I'm not a large man, so it didn't take much for me to be wrestled to the ground. As I layed there, two other guys rushed up and began rummaging through my pockets. I had left all my valuables back in the hotel, and the muggers only got $35 from me.

Mercifully they were not violent, and did not punch or stab or slash me. They just wanted my money, and I was more than happy to give it up. But after they ran off, I laid on the ground, stunned. I had never had this happen to me before. Yes, I had read that the Mariscal district was unsafe and no-one should venture outside without taking a taxi. I consider myself street-savvy, but I never noticed anyone behind me until it was too late.

Gentlemen, please don't make the same mistake I made. I love the thrill of picking up streetwalkers, but there is no way on God's green earth I'll ever do it again in Quito. To me, the Mariscal district has the same gritty feel as Tijuana, and is probably just as unsafe. I never felt unsafe there during the day, but at night there are a lot of unsavory men and women hanging around.

I went to guajira 2 hours ago and it was closed and padlocked with a chain that looks like it had been there a while. I spoke with the security guard next door at the other building. He confirmed it has been closed for a while. I immediately went to Cafe Roja after, there were more guys than girls there, I picked out a girl named Kimberly she did not want a drink she wanted a fichaprobably because lunch time is the busy time for her. I did a quick search back through December and was surprised to find that no one is talking about the crackdown in Quito. As of mid January, there are multiple closures in the Mariscal section, including Guajira, La Gata Caliente, Casa Palacio and likely many others. I'm a big fan of Guajira, and I was therefore shocked when I found the place closed up and padlocked on January 13th. I'm friendly with one of the girls who works there, so we got together and she told me that the city is cleaning up the Mariscal because it's a tourist area. She said that every week or two, the Guajira management calls the girls to a meeting and promises that they'll be back in business soon, but of course that never happens.

I think that these closures have pushed a lot of business to Cafe Rojo because I headed over there several times and there were quite a large number of guys.

Aside: I went to Cafe Rojo on a Saturday afternoon, assuming that the place would be nice and quiet since most customers are married businessmen. Boy was I dead wrong! The place was PACKED with guys, far outnumbering the girls. They appeared to be young and likely single. A different scene for sure. I'm not making that mistake again.

arrived monday morning, with a powerful jetlag, sleep deprived and short-breathed by the altitude, i had to concede on the first night. i knew about the altitude, but the combination was a real killer.

on tuesday, however, i hit the jackpot. my hotel is a few meters away from guajira, and i went there at five pm. place is really nice, it looks a bit like a bar and a living room together. prices confirmed, entry 2, girl 20.

i have been there for a while, trying to get the vibe. after one hour and two beers, i categorised the girls more or less as 'old and chubby, young and chubby, young and good looking'. guess what, type three is the minority.

after a bit of more looking, i selected karol, a dark-skinned, big-rack, apparently shy lady from ecuador (somewhere). i like shy girls, always with the hope that they will do what i want instead of having to stress myself to convince them about who is in charge. the whole point, at least for me, in the mongering activity is that i pay for services, not headaches. i have enough of them already, and i certainly do not plan to pay to get additional ones.

her attitude did not surprise me. the public frequenting the place is made of people who can afford 10 bucks and no more, all of them local, some i would not like to meet on a dim-lighted road. that explains also the heavy security at the entrance, two guards in battle gear at street level and two inside. i was searched, but not requested any i'd.

disappointed, i hit a cab. the cabbie had a very small girl, possibly three, in the passenger seat. she was his daughter, and he told me he was bringing her with him because he could not let her home alone. this small creature was spending hours and hours in the passenger seat, without any kind of safety device, immersed in the noise and smell of quito's trafic. she could not play, and her father could not attend her. so, i had my heart-breaking experience. it happens at least once everytime i travel in these countries. i am afraid that, after having seen things like these too many times, i will get to the point there won't be anything else to break. another piece of heart gone. i left bits and pieces of it all around the world, from guatemala to india, from kenya to peru, and i keep loosing them. i guess it can be considered a professional disease of long-time travellers.

i needed to celebrate life and went back to guajira, where i found karol. however, i was interested in a blonded good looking and well-breasted girl, whose name i forgot. she is the only blond in the place, she has a cute face and smile, and perky tits. you can't miss her. in my not so broken spanish i made clear that i was looking for special services, and especially besos (kisses) and bbbj. she seemed to agree, but when we went upstairs she did not deliver. nice body, but no kissing and no touching allowed on her lower parts. good action (she could turn milk into butter by shaking that littel ass of hers) , but standard service altogether. again, i preferred to keep my shots for better times.

on friday, i got myself organised. left the office soon, and by 3pm i was there. the plan was to negotiate a better deal, on the assumption that she was getting 50% of the fecha, so 10 dollars. but i was wrong, she gets 15, and negotiations were tough. i interviewed another couple of girls, and both were asking 60 for the hour, with mix answers regarding anal and bbbj. 50 dollars was, in comparison, a good deal, with full services included. so i agreed that she would have joined me in one hour at my hotel for one hour. no show. puzzled, i went to look for her, and she apologised saying that the boss was around and she did not get permission to leave. could be bs, i don't know. but anyway, we went upstaris again, and got the full services for a total of 40. while i was banging her in anal doggy with all my strenghts, i could not avoid thinking that it was probably one of the best fuck i could hope for. in asia, girls do not do anal in general (with the exception of thai, but seldomly). and anywhere in the world, the combination of anal+bbbj with a stunner like karol would have visibly dented my bank account.

altogether, my opinion on the whole lot is the following:

quito is worth visiting, definitely. for an european monger. 20 minutes for 20 dollars is an oustanding deal, despite the hit-and-miss constraints. quality is rare, though, excluding karol, services are standard, despite the fact that ecuadorian girls know how to fuck. they take a well endowed man without complaints, and they are specialists in doggy style. they spread their legs, lower their ass and take it all, full power. if you are looking for extras, though, you must pay, and you don't know what you get. besos (gfe) are very rare and unconvincing, anal is generally on offer but bbbj can be tricky. girls are very health conscious, and bare-back activities (including daty) are looked upon with some concern. finding a girl who actually enjoys it is really difficult. these are pro's, and well experienced ones as well.

however, with 100 dollars (approx. 70 euros at the time of writing) , you can potentially have 8-9 girls for 15 to 20 minutes each time. potentially does not mean practically. between extra's, drinks, entrance and taxi, i guess you could get 6. anyway back home, for 100 dollars i get maybe two sessions with low-range rld girls. a hell of a difference.

i do not suggest the lower end of the scale, based on the touch-me experience. the place is dirty, the customers also, and the girls can be ill. if you want to go that way, i highly recommend using a condom for everything and refraining from bbbj. the chance to go back home with an unwelcome feeling down below is high, and quite frankly it is not worth it. the price differential is 10 dollars between good and very bad. just a no-brainer imho.

about the nightkats experience. 15 dollars will deliver a better experience allround than the cheapest options, but still not worth it, unless you are in for a championship in repeated mechanical sex sessions. good exercise, very healthy, and nobody [CodeWord133] in the dustbin, but not much more than gym. besides, i hate to be requested for propinas / drinks every five seconds by everybody, and i hate people trying their best to fool you. i found the place irritating.

also at the high end, it remains a hit or miss. karol was luck, but no standard. girls quality, at least as body, is directly proportional to price, with some exception.

my advice is the following, with in mind foreigners coming from us or europe:

1. book a hotel in the vicinity of the action. it will save you some (very cheap) taxi ride and especially time. traffic in quito is no joke. you will also be in a better position to invite the girl of your choice to come to your hotel. if you do your homework (one basic thing any monger must be good at) , you will get yourself a nice spot, surrounded by options and safe.

2. do not drink too much in these places and in general. booze is cheap, and they push you to drink, but they will take profit of you, both the bar and the girls. besides, do not forget you are at 2800 meters above sea level. even after a few days, performances will be impaired v. what you are used to (unless you are a mountain person yourself) , and alcohol does not help. i am myself a reasonable beer drinker, with 50-100 cc a day, but in quito one beer would have a noticeable impact. so, if you want to get wasted, mind your money and, in general, do not count too much on high performances. also remember that alcohol reduces your alertness, and to go around in quito by foot in confusional state is a big 'hit me' advertisement for any criminal you would come across.

3. stay out of troubles. the local newspaper yesterday reported that, from the beginning of the year, there have been almost 500 assaults on people and properties, in a single district. so not the whole city. laptops are particularly looked after and there are a lot of weapons around. mind your steps.

4. use only licensed taxis, and be prudent with flashing out cameras, watches and what else. quito is not a safe spot as a whole. taxis go by the meter at day, but i heard at night it goes by negotiation.

5. the tradition in ecuador is that guys approach girls, not the other way around like in many other parts of the world. so girls are mostly waiting, hoping to be approached. they get tired to sit down and bored to hell.

6. business is slow. in all places i have been to, i noticed that most of the action is represented by guys drinking beer and looking at girls, but there is relatively little bed action taking place v. the amount of men around. all girls complain, and i wonder how do they get a decent living. this means that in theory you can negotiate. but in practice, these are pro's, and the general mindset is that they could earn nothing comfortably sitting and chatting with each other instead of having to work for a few bucks. prices are already rock-bottom, and despite the moaning none of the girls i met was in real distress.

7. if you don't speak any spanish, you are in troubles. none of the girls i interviewed could speak and / or understand english, not even at basic level. the situation could be different in the expensive nightclubs, but there you have to cough up 100/150 dollars for 30-45 minutes. so come prepared. either some basic spanish or a large wallet. apart from pro's, it is difficult to find anybody speaking any english anywhere, which is a real shame. a country that does not speak english is dead at international level.

8. surprisingly, a lot of colombians are coming to ecuador. they are attracted by the dollar, which apparently is considered way better than the local colombian peso. i did not quite get the reasoning behind this strong preference, but that is the trend. so you will find regularly colombian chicas in ecuadorian brothels.

9. if you find a girl you like, i advise you to stick with her. overall quality is low, despite the big-breasted standard. good attitude is rare. while exploring can be fun, it eventually means to pay a lot of money in entry tickets, observing a lot of girls who could not care less if you are alive or dead, and ending up having relatively expensive gym sessions, but not 'real' sex. with that i mean no passion, no warmth, and an experience that most of the times i forget in less than a day. if you like, as i do, gfe, good luck. kisses are possibly more rare than anything else. my attempts to convince girls to be my 'novia' for some time were not even understood. their view of things is that you pay, they condom you, suck you, get banged for a few minutes and. next please.

10. another aspect to consider is that girls are typically low educated and not very smart. they are used to volatile sex sessions with as many men as they can, and they do not have a clear picture regarding the advantages of having a few, loyal and frequent guests. so if you hope to convince a girl that she should discount you on the basis of the fact that you will return, think twice. it is not going to fly in most cases. and, before you get a girl to abandon the wham-bang-thank-you-mam approach, you might have to pay a lot of propinas, or be very lucky. a real shame, i feel. as said before, these girls can fuck, and it would take just a little bit more to make of them great lovers.

11. most girls are single mothers, according to my experiences approx 80% of them. girls here do not become hookers to buy trendy phones, and most of them just need to feed themselves and their children. if asked, they will proudly tell you how many kids they have. however, genetics help. i could not find one girl whose pussy was devastated by pregnancy. stretch marks are normal.

12. you don't really need a gf hotel. action takes place in chongos. my hotel was flexible in terms of visitors, short stay was allowed, and long stay would have required to know the name of the visitor and pay something like 6 dollars (i had a reservation for one person only). but again, why bother? you can fuck your way from 11 am to 4-6 am the day after, without the need to risk it by bringing a girl at your place.

13. about the above. stealing is the second sport after football in ecuador. robbers are everywhere, and if you decide to invite a low-priced 'deal' in your hotel room do not be surprised to find that your comb is gone. everything here has a value, and if it can be stolen, it will.

When asked about his infidelity, Warren Zevon was quoted as saying "I need to have sex like other people need to take a shit!". It was with that attitude that I returned to Ecuador for another trip for tourism and some extraciricular activities. The census weekend also fell on my trip without me knowing beforehand. I still can't believe they counted the whole country in one day that Sunday. I was told that the authorities would probably be lax on Friday's curfew but they swept through La Marischal on horseback much like the end of Mardi Gras day in New Orleans. By 12:30 AM the streets were empty. I decided to leave and spend the rest of the weekend in Mindo.

Here's updates on the places I visited. Even though they are a few years old, many of the places on Tunguruhua's maps are still in business that I went to. Those maps are simply priceless! I like to visit chongos at night after a little liquid encouragement so a lot of the best places just aren't open by the time I'm ready. I know. Cafe Rojo. It will just have to wait for another trip.

Akershuz: Is a 3 minute walk from Plaza Foch, the center of Marischal. Vibracion didn't seem to be in business so this is the only Marischal chongo that I know of. I stopped on my first night after a late flight. Same old chunky ladies with deep calous' on their hands from years of handjobs. There are a couple of gems in the rough. I left to find some friends only to return later to find it closed. Out pops the one attractive woman I saw there. For the first and only time in Ecuador, I took a lady back to my hotel. $60 for a couple of hours of unrushed fun. She even gave me a back massage when we were done. It was a nice start to the trip.

Nightkats: The original location, across from the Marriott, is closed for good. I went to the "new" Nightkats which is in a desolate area not far from Cheers / La Dolce Vita. Cabbies should know where it is. There was a cab parked in front of the old location telling other cabs of where to go. This was easily the worst place I went on the trip. From the jacked-up host trying to hustle me to the flabby gals, I bolted from this dark depressing place. Fechas $15 but qutoed by $25 by the host.

Cheers: I liked this low-end dive. Read Tung's directions to the 3rd floor and by pass the basement disco. After climbing a shitload of stairs, the host hands me a large beer for my $2 entrance and pulls back a curtain to a small room with a stripper pole cranking reggeaton. I saw the goofiest, funniest dancer here. She was completely drunk and naked except for a backwards baseball hat. She rolled over each and every guy sitting in the old bus seats against the wall, each time turning around on their lap to incert a couple fingers in her snatch! What a happy hour! The girls are $10 a fecha and are in the 4-7 range on looks. I enjoyed a couple flithy visits here.

VIP Paradise Women: I saw some really lookers here. However, I wasn't going to wait my turn at 7 PM on a Friday night. It was packed with hombres. I should have gone back. Next time.

La Dolce Vita a. K. A. La Fragata: This was my favorite place on this trip. Late hours, decent prices, nice ladies in a large strip club unlike the sweaty shitholes of a lot of Quito chongos. Good porn on flat screens to get your libido going. There's even a separate karaoke room. $7 entrance includes 2 beers or whiskeys. $3 for you or lady drinks afterwards. $20 fechas for 20 minutes and a $5 propina to "mami" for a little extra time. I found the ladies friendly here and some even knew some english which is rare.

Touch Me: I had to revisit this place. Too bad nothing inspired me. Most of the the ladies looked like grandmothers. GMILF? No, not really. I left. I did spot the famous bleached blond with the gigantic fake boobs that I saw a couple years ago. She was downstairs for about 10 seconds before being whisked back upstairs. How does she do it?

I was told upon arrival that there are now a lot of restrictions on night life and alcohol esp. In La Marischal. I didn't see it. Bars were open until 2. Liquor stores selling $3 bottles of vodka to youngsters who drank them on the street. Bungalow 6 remains the place for gringos to hang. The Wednesday night ladies night I went to was out of control! Serious talent if you have game! My time outside of Quito were great as well with a trip to Puyo the highlight. That's a separate report.
