Still. Like I said before. Cheap for "us". But if you get paid 200 euros a month it's still expensive. I have a stable unlimited fast ADSL connection for 25 euros a month. Never failed me. Never had any probs with it. (I love those boys from 1 & 1 But if you look good there are also other providers that can do that for even 20 euros. A month. !

Offcourse if one could live THERE with money generated in the US or Europe ir could be heaven. Just think about all that young fresh pussy and ass to be taped I am sure (like everywere else in SA) $$$ or €€€ talks Ye just need to work on your spanish and look halfway decent and your set!

Yes sure, it just makes sense when you earn your money in Europe or the US and get paid in PY. I work over the Internet, so it could work for me, but because of personal issues (girlfriend) I can't move there. I was offered a 1MB leased line in Asuncion for $150 a month. Of course this is slower than DSL in Germany, but realy enough for all kinds of work.

I checked yesterday with a German living in Paraguay near Asuncion. He said for 1mio ( 140 Euro) you get a nice apartment in the city. Internet cost another US$30-40. Food etc. Extremely cheap. Crimerate not as high as some people think if you follow the "normal" rules: No expensive clothes, Watches or 10k in your pocket.

Checked this place out yesterday, figured it was a good place to start as its listed as the best casa. At 3pm 4 chicas available. Only one I recognized from the asunsex website: Cintia. Edit: Ok just walking around, I happened to wander right into the place where its being held. Here's directions for anyone interested:

Go to the intersection of Mexico and 25 de Mayo. This is around the 500 block of 25 de Mayo. Start following the numbers UP 25 de Mayo (i.e. towards 600's) somewhere around the 700, 800 block of 25 de Mayo, on the right side is a colorful banner saying "Miss Paraguay" and listing the dates. The 29th is listed as "Mejor Talent" with the coronation of 5th of April. The company listed is "M.A. Producciones" The name of the place itself was something like Trauma, Troma, not sure exactly I went by too fast. Hopefully this will give me a little something to do this trip, because aside from the chicks this place is boooooooooooooring. And hot, and wet. Jesus is it wet, been raining since I got off the plane.

fact is that asu still is very cheap for us. americans or europeans. who bring in euros or dollars. but when living and working in py and getting paid in guaranies. this is a whole other matter!

right now i pay 8. 50 usd for a gallon of gas (ouch). so i probably would laugh off my ass when taking fuel for a car in py. that is when i get paid here in my country (germany). if i only get paid by py standards. 2 bucks a gallon would be very expensive see what i mean?

lets get real. most peeps down in py don't make more then 200-300 usd a month. that is when they have a job!

Hi Jerkus, I think that you made the right decision avoiding Good Friday. As to hotels and strip clubs, I'm afraid that I can't help you. I was only there for a few days. Better ask Pija or someone else who lives there. The hotel where I stayed (Hotel City) was not visitor friendly but I'm sure that most hotels don't make a fuss about this. Others in the Asuncion thread mentioned hotels that will allow girls. I didn't see any strip club in Centro but there may be one or more in the suburbs.

My visit to Asuncion, last December, suffered from bad timing. I spent almost week over there, between 3 and 9 Dec. Unfortunately, the weekend of Dec.8 turned out to be the long weekend of 'Nuestra Senora de Caacupe'.

After going over the dates I noticed that the 21st is good friday, and figured that since many countries in South America are very religious it was in my best interest to avoid that weekend, after reading your report I feel like I made the right decision.

Bucanero, do you know of any hotels in Asuncion that are "visitor" friendly (cheap, decent)? What about strip clubs? do you know of any in Asuncion?

Right on, Artisttyp, in BA it is usually the Paraguayas that will perform BBBJ. But there, I never have to negotiate. It is just assumed and included in the price. I didn't negotiate in Asuncion but I did ask the girls to do it 'sin forro'. Every time, they refused, even when I offered them a tip. Guess I should have asked them before paying.

About the bus: from BA to Asuncion, I used 'Crucero Del Norte'. I paid 150 pesos (about 48USD). That is 'Clase Ejecutivo' with 'Coche Cama'. There is an even higher class which entitles you to a real bed in your own compartment but that was fully booked. By the way, when I was at the Retiro bus station there was a very long line in front of another ticket office. It was also for buses to Paraguay. I asked the guy in 'my' ticket office why there were so many people over there. He grinned and said: 'they give away free tickets for Paraguayans'. It was a special action for the Caacupe weekend, apparently. Lots of pretty girls in that line, by the way.

On my way back to BA, I used the line 'Nuestra Senora de la Asuncion' in Asuncion. Also 'Clase Ejecutivo' and 'Coche Cama'. The price was 270k Guaranis (about 60USD). That was the highest class available for this line.

Food and drinks were included in the 'Ejecutivo' tariff. Rather good service. However, when you take a lower class, I think that you'll have to bring your own stuff.

Checking for flights from BUE to ASU I came accross to as low as $157 round trip on Aerolineas with a 30min stop at Residencia.

IMHO is a better way to go in 4hrs 30min than 18hrs on bus even in classe executiva coche cama seats.
