I am in ASU as off last Wednesday. And planning to stay for a longgggggg time

Need to buy some wheels. And rent a place. Right now I am kindda busy doing this. Besides GF is with me. So have to be VERY carefull as they are MUY celosa.

Right now I stay in a german runned Hotel close to Centro. 24 euros a day with breakies. Clean. Save. No questions asked and GF friendly. Has a pool too. ! And free wireless internet.

I would recommend staying in the center of the city rather than in Villa Mora, which is considered the "new" center. There are many hotels in this area, and the super low-cost options probably do not have a website. I stayed at the Hotel Chaco, Granados Park Hotel, and Hotel Excelsior during my several trips to Asuncion. All were somewhere in the $60-$80 USD range per night. All three are in the center of the city, near the privados (which are your only real option for mongering in Asuncion) and near many cheap restaurants, shops, and supermarkets. The Hotel Chaco is located in a slightly shabbier area than the other two hotels I mentioned and probably can be booked cheaper; I know for a fact that they give a Peace Corps nightly rate of about $12 USD, what if any documentation you need to get this rate I do not know. There were several good privados within walking distance of the Hotel Chaco, and the front desk guy will arrange to have girls sent to your room if you so require.
My guess is you would be ok to just show up in Asuncion without a hotel reservation provided you speak Spanish and there is not a big Mercosur convention going on during the time you are there. The people in Asuncion are really easy going and it is not a dangerous city, so you will have no problem asking around for a cheap hotel if that is what you are looking for.

One thing I have not been able to figure out is where to stay. There were a few hotels mentioned but no links to their websites.

I found that expedia has a few listed but at higher rates.



***If I did go to paraguay do you think it is important to book a hotel before I go or can I just show up and what area of town should I go to? This is still unclear to me after RTFF. I don't think I would enjoy being on the outskirts of town so I assume the city center is it???



I like to walk out the door and find ammenities like grocery stores etc.

Are US dollars easily exchanged? I read that the atm's are a total rip off.

so now that weve established that asuncion is a complete shit hole and totally boring lets move on to its strong points as i see them.

Last week I came back from a 7day visit to Paraguay. Stayed in Asuncion and went to san Lorenzo on Saturday.

Asuncion is a beautiful city with lots of old buildings and no real Favelas, as far as I have seen. San Lorenzo is relatively small and no girls scene.

I came to Paraguay for the girls, I need to say the paraguayan girls are aweful. Walking on the street I saw so many beautiful woman. Even more beauties I used to see in Brazilian cities.

Because it was clear to me that Asuncion is really save I traveled from time to time with the bus, the so-called onibus. Riding in such a bus is much more dangerous than walking after midnight in Asuncion. The busdrivers ride like hell. But I was short in time seeing all those beauties coming in and out the bus. Because my spanish is far too bad it was not possible to come into contact with locals. But that is not a problem. Asuncion is loaded with privados, an you'll find some real beauties here.

The website Asunsex might help you here but my opinion is that you have to see the girls on Asunsex youself.

I was a lucky guy. The very first day I met two real beauties of 20 yrs, Rocio and another girl who told me to stop so I will not mention her name at this forum. Spent many hours with those girls. One time I went to a motel and had of lot of fun (and sex) in the jacuuzi.

There are privados who maximize their price at 3 o 3, 5 hours but only if you take the girl after 10 pm or so. To take a girl around 17. 00 pm in most privados cost 1500 guarani. In the Us that might still be a reasonable price but in Praguay that is the monthly income for a lot of people. So after a two hour hunt with a taxista (50 guarani per hour) I found a nice girl who doesn't apear on Asunsex. 800 Guarani, a lot of money but I did not want to finish my stay in Paraguay without sex during the last night. I must say it was a good choice.

Some people on this forum wrote Paraguay is boring. To a certain level I agree with them. Asuncion has no real night life in the weekends as in all major brazilian cities. I frequented some night clubs as Hawaian night club (don't ask where that club is) and the Playboy's at 14 de mayo (centro). When I visited the Hawaian there were no people and

2 girls, max. 6 / 10. The manager offered to bring in another girl, who showed up within 7 minutes. That girl was pretty but I still could not make a decision. Only blowjob with condom and no kissing. Besides she told that she had two children. A quick touch over her belly learned me I could expect a lot of pregnancy scars there.

Next year April or May I am going to ASUNCION. The plan is to stay there for a very long time.

Right now I am gathering information of all kinds. About opening a banc account, renting an appartment (I want to buy property later) setting up a small business etc. Etc.
