Suggest you consult a travel website to answer your questions:
1. suggest you book hotel before hand.
2. Hiking clothes with removable layers.
3. No need, they have guides there.
4. No options
5. You need to book the train (in advance) Perurail.com you will be going and coming back the same day so you will only have a few hours to see MP. Better Idea is to stay an additional night in Aguas Calientes.

Posts: 131I will be in Cuzco from December 11 - 13. I am looking forward to meet any mongers over there.
Sushilover, I am eagerly waiting for your detailed report on Cuzco scene.
Also I would appreciate anyone who can give me some directions about getting to Machu Pichu from Cuzco. I am flying in to Cuzco on the 11th morning. What are my options to get to Machu Pichu? My flight back to Lima is at 8:00 AM on 13th.
Few questions I have are (I am reading the forum for better understanding):
1) Do I need to book a hotel prior to my arrival at Cuzco?
2) What type of cloths do you recommend for MP in December?
3) Do I need to book any guided tour to MP prior to my arrival?
4) What are the options for Pro-action in Cuzco?
5) How do I get to Machu Pichu from Cuzco?

You can buy it anytime, you won't have any problems buying it in Cuzco specially.

Posts: 1600I just got back from the San Tutis brothel in San Sebastian. All the taxi drivers know it. The cab ride was 8 soles each way, my guy hung around to get the whole round trip.
The place is like an ultra down-scale version of one of the Carson City bunny ranches. About 35-40 rooms, each with a chica. When they are available, they stand by their open door, and you pick one who meets your fancy. The base rate is 15 soles, which is FIVE BUCKS! That gets you a one position quickie TJ street girl style with the clothes still on. I paid an extra 15 soles for the extras of totally nude and multiple positions. The quality of the chicas runs the gamut from fatties to some surprisingly cute young ones. I did a chica who looks-wise, would be in the top 20% of TJ street chicas, thin, and Iīd guess mid twenties. She was a clock watcher, But not bad for the first 10 minutes - but what the heck, I paid $10 bucks plus $6 cab fare. Nobody would ever mistake this for GFE, but for a cheap quickie, it did the trick -so Cuscoīs not a total loss for action.

Posts: 1600I don't think the altitude sickness is avoidable if your body is used to near sea level. I'm in Cusco right now. The first day, I was a total wreck, despite the coca leaves and coca tea. By the middle of the 2nd day, I was fine.
I would say for Cusco, write off the 1st day, due to altitude acclimation, then allocate 2 days for sightseeing in Cusco itself, and 2 full days, or even 3, for the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu.
As for hobbying, so far I only hit the one place that was described in town on Garcilaso, and it was worthless - only one unattractive chica working. I will hit San Tutis either today or tomorrow to see if anything is worthwhile in Cusco.

But Cusco has some interesting eating options . . . cuy and alpaca.
The cuy is served in the tradional manner - with head and legs attached. Not much meat on those little boney legs, but you can suck the head for some rich "brain meat". Skin was tough and rubbery - like a lot of the girls I date. Overall, not bad but not my favorite dish. Somewhere between rat and nutria . . .
On the other hand, the roast alpaca was great. Especially the babys. Yeah, they cry out for their mothers when you first throw them on the grill, but that is some good eating. It's the "other" white meat. Plus they're so damn cute. Highly recommended.
Most everything - food, alpaca clothes, etc, is more expensive in Cusco than in Lima. If you plan on buying a few trinkets or hats or sweaters, you can find the same stuff in Lima cheaper.
Cheers, -P

Posts: 3359You should have chewed coca leaf. When I was in Cusco, I did that and had no problems and the others in my group refused to and had a lot of problems. I think Cusco is worthless for hookers but I would say it's worth a week, touristically. Sagsayuayman, the whole Sacred Valley, plus Machu Pichu, 3-4 days is not enough in my opinion.
Maria says hi and yearns for you tragically.

I have just left Cusco after 3 days of seeing MachuPicchu and the other ruins. The altitude there kicked my ass and I`m not sure why. Spent almost a month in Quito Ecuador and had no problems.
I have to concur that Cusco is not a place to go for pro-chicas. Initally an interesting town, but you tire of it quickly. Lima is 100 times better for sex. There are lots of girls handing out leaflets for massage and they seem for all the world like typical SWs, hustling up johns on the street. But no - they really are legit massage girls with documents and real skills. For 30 s an hour ($10) they are the best bargain in this town. Been with 3 of them and liked them all. Sweet and a little goofy, but worth the $10. This would be $45-$80 back home, plus with all the walking you will need the attention. Worth your 30 soles.
Go to Cusco to see the sights. 3-4 days max. Go to Lima for the chicas.
