Huanchaco Is No Great Surf Spot

I CERTAINLY would not travel up North to surf THERE!

Chicama, Pacasamayo etc are the waves worth traveling for, NOT Juanchasco. Juanchaco is only 15 minutes or so from the best Chongo in the North (Bahia Rosa). Read my recent report in Trujillo section and check www.wannasurf.com for more details on surf spots.

Near Lima, Punta Rocas area is your best bet.

The trip from lima is like 20 something hours by bus so I recommend you brake it up and find some towns in between that might instrest you.If you go south down the coast towards arequiepa there are a few places to stop like pisco/paracas but unforunately you would have to turn inland for a long duration of the trip. There is a lake area 8 hours inland from arequiepa that is a big tourist destination and about another 8 hours from there is cuzco.
Gringos spell cusco with an s because our native language is not espanol.I'll contain myself from using a common grammatic error that latin people use. There are many of use making an effort to learn spanish so lets play nice.

    Plane Train Or Automobile?

What is the best way to get to Cuzco, and why do gringo's spell it Cusco?

A Train link and any Hotel recommendations would be greatly appreciated, looking at heading down 04/10 to 04/16 between Lima and Cuzco, what does the weekend look like in Lima over the Easter Holiday!

    Thanks,

    Voodooman

I am suprised you do not like the waves here in Lima, BWTFDIN. I have a buddy that does alot of Surfing here and is building a house in Punta Rocas where he say's is a good break. I will ask him for the best beaches within a hour of Lima.

Yes I have to get up to Huanchaco, i hear the surfing is really good. I was a little disappointed at the beaches close to Miraflores. I read i think from Lima Busy that an hour south of Lima is much nicer.

    Hey guys,

I just got back from Cuzco. I had a great time spent close to week up there. I must say the women here are beautiful. My first day here I walked around the Plaza de Armas, damn so many cute cholitas and charapitas walking around. I met a really beuatiful 21yo cholita named Jovanna, who I spent most of my time with. I told her I was 32yo, and she didn't seem to have a problem with that at all (Damn.. i love Peru!!). We took a trip up to Machu to see the sites, and she showed me some other awesome areas of Cuzco. I originally was staying with a friend at his place, but wound up getting a hotel, to have some pivacy. I can totally see myself living up here in Cuzco, but I also love Lima for the ocean, among many other things. From what I can tell if feels safer here in Cuzco then in Lima. But not as many things to do as Lima.

I managed to get away with my friend, and do some mongering.

We went to Santutis located in San Jeranimo, south of Cuzco. My peruvian friend said it was a very safe area. Santutis was an outdoor place with about 75-100 rooms all around a courtyard. We arrived early around 7pm. probably the cheapest sex I have ever had in my life. I think with taxi it cost us maybe $10 each. (Damn..I love Peru!!)

Next day we went to La Rumba a club which is located near Avenida Colosuyo in Manueel Prado. (I think that was the name of the street) La Rumba is a more upscale club. and prices here are a little higher, bar fine was $8 to take a girl back to your hotel, took a beautiful 22yo name Mily. She stayed with me the whole night, and even showed me around town the next day, we agreed on $25, but also took her around and bought her a few gifts.

These girls are so sweet, very friendly, with no attitude at all. They really seem to enjoy spending time with you.

I fell in love everyday in Cuzco just walking around. Sometimes I wonder why I waited this long til I tasted South America.

Anxious to get back to Lima, My surf board should be arriving from the states soon. I can't wait to get in the water.

    Peace guys!

    La Curva Experience

Feeling a bit frisky from riding the train back from Machu Picchu with a bunch of liberal Dutch girls with their cute Spanish accents, I decided to try my luck at La Curva. I hailed a cab from Plaza Armas and cost me 5 soles. I was lucky in that the cab driver is a regular at la Curva so he waited for me at no additional charge. There are also plenty of available taxis waiting in the parking lot.

La Curva is further down Cusco and is about a good 8 minute drive from Plaza Armas. I went around 11:00pm. This place has the feel of Trocadero in Lima. Once you reach the street address, you will drive up a 300-400 yard hill and the parking lot is in the middle of the la Curva grounds. There is no cover charge, and you have access to all of the chica rooms through the outside, meaning its not like Trocadero where you enter a big prison like building. Think of a real crappy motel with the parking lot in the middle and motel rooms all around. There is a room sort of like the check in-out desk of a motel where beer is 5 soles. All girls will start out at 10-20 soles for 15 minutes, but I got the impression that you can negotiate (as it seems many of the Peruvians were).

So I make my rounds through the parking lot and then to a dark alley where there are more rooms. If I had to guess I would say there was about 20 working girls. I was the only non Peruvian dude at the place. Just like Trocadero, everyone seems friendly and is out to drink a few beers and bust a nut. The selection of woman is horrible. There was maybe 2 girls that were doable in the night light (a 5 on the Dingman scale).

I figured I was already here and needed to unload. So I choose the chica with the cutest looking face and decided it was going to be a bbj experience. This chica ended up being sweeter than I thought and worked my pole, bean bag, and inner thighs with her tongue for a good ten minutes before I nutted. She wasn´t to happy about me nutting all over the side of her face, her clothes, and bed sheets. In my defense I told her I was about to bust, but I guess something got lost in the translation. She was caught by surprise. I payed her 40 soles total and she seemed to forgive me. She even asked me to come visit her tommorrow and she promised to take better care of me.

On ride back, the taxi driver gave me additional information on la Curva. Chicas can come and go when they please. For example, they may choose to come in at 6:30pm and leave at 11:00pm. They pay the 90 soles a night to the house for the room plus they get an additional 6 beers to sell at 5 soles. The house also makes money of the drinks (beer was 5 soles). They also have other drinks and snacks available. Weekdays the place closes at 1am, but most chicas start leaving before midnight. On weekdays it closes at 3am supposedly and the chicas like to drink it up. There has been talk of opening another chonga similar to la Curva but better (let´s only hope) in Cusco, but the owners of la Curva have been pushing hard for it not to open.

    Was in CUSCO..

I was in CUSCO for 2 days (3 nights) between my Machu Picchu trip.

Walked around Plaza de arms. Looked like there are possibilities but you need to know spanish to approach. Its difficult to say if they are pros or some amatures looking for action. The vibe is there but difficult for me to score.

I visited the Olga massage parlor in the Plaza. Its bang opposite the the Cathedral. Looks like its a total legit place. When I was there I say 3 women waiting to get a massage.

At first the madam - Old bag wanted to massage me. I said no I want the other girl. She kind of seemed frustrated. Hey for 70 soles an hr, I dont want a nanny massaging my ass.

Anyway I made an appointment and came back and got a young chick. The massage is decent and soon as it was over she just ran from the room. It seems to damn legit, so I didnt even bother trying to ask

I saw another massage, sauna, spa place on another street but did not try it.

Basically CUSCO is dead to mongering - at least my experience.

    Royal Inka I

Just to mention that the hotel apparently accepts guests, no quibbles. Didn't find any worthwhile around the main square though - too many tourists!

    Sidhartha,

There is a glossy magazine published monthly called "Cusco Guide" available for free at any hotel or tourist info area. It is like the main tourist rag of Cusco, sponsored in part by the Cusco Chamber of Commerce (or whatever the equivalent is) and it contains mainly ads for high end restaurants and hotels.

I was given one somewhere and was flipping thru it when low and behold what do I see smack dab in the middle of the magazine but 3 different ads for independent escorts. No prices, just names, full pictures - face unobscured- and phone numbers. Very upscale looking, no jungle girls here.

This was in the Nov '04 issue. Funny thing though, the day I was leaving they had just put out the Dec issue, so I picked a copy up to see what was new. No escort ads at all! Perhaps maybe they have to pull them in December so all the Christmas tourists (of which there are many) don't get offended.

So maybe they're back now. It's worth a look.

    Cusco Escort

    Sidhartha,

I misread your previous post and thought you were referring to Lima escorts. I doubt there are any escort services in Cusco as the opportunities aren't as blatant as Lima. The cab drivers seem to have the lowdown on the whole mongering situation though.

    Escort?

There are several escort services in Lima, but you don't need one. There is P4P everywhere in Lima. Nibs took me to one strip where we visited a dozen little fuck places within a quarter mile. You'll just be wasting your money using a service.

    Escorts in Cusco?

I have searched this thread quite a ways back, but found no mention of any escort service in Cusco. Is there one? Any idea who to call and what the prices are?

    Thanks

    Cusco in April

Glad to see Jackson has resolved some of the server issues, and that this forum is alive once again. Thanks to the contributors here who have provided a lot of good information. After waiting a number of months, I finally have regular member status, and I am now able to post.

I’ll be in Cusco for about a week in early April. I’ve read through a number of the forums here and was wondering if someone could recommend a good mid market / girl-friendly hotel in Cusco. I will give Hotel Colòn a try for a couple nights in Lima.

Also, I have heard the rainy season ends about the end of March / early April. Would 2nd week in April be a good time (weather wise) to see Machu Picchu? Any tips to avoid tour rip offs would be appreciated.

I plan to play a few hands in the freebie game while in Cusco.
