Some of you experienced Peru mongers please fill me in. I guess kinda like how DLatins and CMP got shut down in the DR while prostitution is legal there.

There are municipality licensed and sometimes owned brothels throughout peru. Some very large ones (ie. Trocodero). However they are ALL aimed at the lower / middle class, charging a cheap entry fee and standard rate.

The places that get raided are nightclubs and high class saunas that are NOT licensed for prostitution. These girls / venues want to charge an exorbitant rate because they are not happy working for at the brothel rate (S. / 25 - 35 (troca) or S. / 50-60 (cucardas)).

You are much better off going to a working class brothel. It is legal as well as much much cheaper (ie. Calle Pizza / TR girls will ask $100+ S. / 300! - that's 10ST's at Trocadero).

Thanks for all the responses gentlemen. When were you last there? How much did you pay at the door and how long was the session?

I was there in 2014. Procedures and costs may have been changed or maybe not. The door fee was 35 soles includes the condom and a beer. The session was 80 soles plus a tip. There is no one knocking on the door. Be nice and pleasant with the girl you choose and the session is as long as you make it last.

Prostitution is legal in Peru, as long as the prostitutes are over 18 years of age and are registered with local authorities. To register with the municipality, the women must be in Peru legally and must carry a health certificate. Despite attempts at regulating prostitution in Peru, the majority of prostitutes work informally and are not officially registered.

Pimping is against the law in Peru and is punishable by three to six years in prison. The pimping of a person under the age of 18 is punishable by five to 12 years in prison.

Brothels and Other Zones of Operation.

Licensed brothels exist and operate legally in Peru, but they are subject to police inspections / raids and potential closures for breaking certain laws, including the use of foreign prostitutes who are in Peru illegally. Illegal brothels are common, especially in Peru's major cities.

Street prostitution is common in certain parts of many major cities. Red light districts do not exist, although there have been talks about setting up such an area in Lima.

Child prostitution is illegal. Penalties for pimps and clients of [CodeWord902] prostitutes range from four to eight years in prison.

While poverty and inequality are important causes of child prostitution, part of the problem is also a social attitude that views sex--including paid sex--between adult men and adolescent girls as normal.
