Find yourself a proper shaman. Set and setting are very important when doing psychedelics. Set aside a week for the retreat. You need more than just a couple days to decompress and absorb what you've learned. If you can't do this I suggest you wait until you are ready. For myself personally I found 1 week was not enough tike to learn from the medicine and intend to return for a 2 week retreat.

What if we do not want to learn, but just want to try it out? I am not sitting still for 1 week, especially in the middle of the woods. My boy scout and military days are over.

If it was my choice, I'd get DMT / Ayahuasca mix (from Mercado de las Brujas, Lima. Get a tour guide and get him to find it) and smoke it in a hotel room in Miraflores.

Better than puking your guts out in the middle of the amazon hours from any hospital. Remember with those drunk concoctions, you need to literally puke out your stomach lining for the Ayahuasca to take effect.

Who's going to help you if you have issues when everyone is busy puking. Even if you're in a group of a 12-20 people.

From what I've read Ayahuasca is very different from other drugs. Nothing like DMT (or LSD, or mushrooms etc.). Getting some dodgy mix in Lima might not get you any nearer experiencing this exceptional (legal) high called "Ayahuasca".

There are dedicated "Ayahuasca retreats". As I understand you need to travel to the Amazon or Tarapoto. I'm nearly certain it's something you won't find in Lima.

If you do, I'd advise you to have a trusted friend or companion who isn't going to try it with you, just in case. Some (very few) people have a very severe adverse reaction to it and might need medical attention.

I've never tried it but I have accompanied a friend who did (he loved the experience); of course that was some forty years ago when we were single, young and reckless.

I think VICE did a documentary on it. There is a whole ritual that goes with it. Maybe try to locate the documentary on Youtube then search on google for the locations etc.
