Because they have a monopoly on certain routes, for example the Lima-Arequipa route. Go ahead, I dare you to find another airline that flies there. A public one. The last one that tried, I forget the name, was grounded due to "safety concerns," after a plane crashed.

Anyway, for those of you who don't already know this: If you try to book a LAN flight within Peru from outside of Peru, such as here in the US, you will get an outrageous price. For ex., from here I found flights from Lima-Arequipa-Lima to be $441. So I went on the SPANISH LAN site, not the international one. Their quotes were around $123, something like that. I go through all the forms and info, and it keeps denying my credit card.

FINALLY, I get the number for the LAN office in Lima. That number is: (51-1) 213-8200. It's a lot better if you speak Spanish but if you don't just push the "english" option and you'll get an agent who speaks poor english. Anyway, I was able to book that same flight for a grand total of $97.50 round trip, and I received my confirmation five minutes later.

Point? The phone is still better for some things than the internet.

Please report on that hotel - I'm planning to stay there. And it was hard to find, since the APEC convention will be in town when I'm there (11/17-22) and most hotels are already full. Good word has it that it is "chica-friendly," and it's rated 4 stars, if that means anything.

I personally prefer the non-pro, uh - I mean "non-pro" scene in Lima - As others have pointed out it just seems to be the best way to go here. Although I can't imagine having much success without at least conversational Spanish skills. I've also had some good and bad luck with streetwalkers, and since no one talks about outcall escorts I just assume it's not a good way to go here and why would I?

I am a big fan of Relaj y Vida. The management is very professional and friendly, and the girls are almost all pretty hot and very young. I think comparing it to sex (in the Clintonian sense) is like apples and oranges. Sometimes I prefer to just lie back and get a nice massage with a happy ending. Other times I want to bang all night. Two very different experiences, and what I choose depends on my mood.

yes, i'm serious, and only for one girl. every now and then i go out with a therapeutic masseuse from there (no sex for $) and she verified the price range. there is the house fee for the room plus a house fee for a 'massage' plus whatever the girl charges for extra services.

HaHa Elberto...that's because getting a permit from the municipalities to put up a sign is extremely difficult and also can be expensive. Thats why from time to time you see signs with plastic over them (which you can see through).

I think part of the reason there are no maps is that it seems that anything appealing to mongers here is pretty low key and almost word-of-mouth. A friend who can find and open doors for you here is invaluable.

This even extends to regular everyday sorts of things as well. For example, nearby there is a huge garage door on a main street but no signs or indication what it might be. The other day I walked by as they were opening the door and it turned out to be a football-field sized plant nursery. They sell plants and trees both wholesale and retail, but how would anyone ever know?

Ahhhh let's see, last night was my 6th night in Lima. Changed aparments yesterday. David 33 set me up with my 4th GFE. A real student type 18y/o, with a smokin' hot college girl body. I really like going to the banos turcos and some weeks go two or three times.

Keep in mind there are all kinds of BTs, from no-sex (unless you are well-connected) to primarily for sex and even some coed ones with a mix of men and their wives or hookers or both.

I personally don´t like Saunas and MPs all that much, lots of other alternatives in Lima. But I know some guys prefer those places. They are pretty much on main drags and easy to find. When you get to your hotel, go to Claro on Larco and buy your SIM chip or cell phone and stop at a bookstore and pick up a map while you are at it. Also, I think someone, maybe it was L.B. posted a map link on the forum a while back.

I am working my way thru the PeruTops site. While I speak/read Spanish fairly well, I find it daunting to work though some of those postings. Lots of slang expressions, local words? and chit-chat. But as I see how its laid out, it is starting to make sense. I need to start on the last page and work backwards - no need to consider recommended chicas from 2004/05 . . . some of the places no longer even exist.

Anyone know of a map with ISG places of interest notated? The maps I have seen have lots of hotels, banks etc - but no saunas, casas, strip clubs. I am trying to enter the addresses into GoogleMap, but it never seems to find the right address. Perhaps 1 out of 10 end up on the map. Maybe someone has already done this. Any link?

David - I also contacted Las Suites Apart-Hotel in Miraflores and they have offered me a $55/nite rate that seems very good for a Senior Suite w/ kitchen. Unless someone tells me NOT to do it, I will probably book it tomorrow.
