I strongly advise you to exclusively use BCP ATMs in Peru. The maximum is 700 PEN. No fees. All other banks charge extortionate fees for foreign cards. Globalnet (only ATMs you'll find at the airport), Scotiabank & BBVA all have a 400 PEN maximum. They respectively charge 19 PEN (4.75%), 20 PEN (5%) and 25 PEN (6.25%) commission. Boycott those thieves!

Yes! I've been fortunate to visit Peru for 5 and 6 months at a time and I met some very special people during that time. Your experience may be different if you are only going to be there for a short period of time however.
