A base of operations in Miraflores is a choice, not a necessity, and if you plan on dating multiple chicks in or around Parque Kennedy you are setting yourself up for future headaches.

I agree but usually the girl suggests miraflores for obvious reasons. I doubt I could live in the vicinity of parque kennedy. I wouldn't want to see backpackers everyday nor would I want to get too well known. I had the same experience in the east village of new york and I felt I was living in a dorm not an apartment building.

I would consider larcomar (with an ocean view) somewhere off la costa verde for quick access to the bike route. Maybe san isidro san miguel or magdalena.

What area of lima do you live in and are you in a strategic location if you need to get somewhere ? I also like lince around the javier prado area nearing san isidro.

This is a two part question that is in Doc Bill's purview, but I will attemt to answer it.

I understand where you are coming from and most of us living here felt the same way. As many have said there are a lot of better cities to live but none of them have the “Lima Vibe”! I have many buddies who travel around the world at will and always come back to Lima. If I did not know better, I would say there was something in the water.....err, scratch that thought as there are many things in water!

In the “bar scene” you will run into that problem if you frequent the same places night in and night out.
Example (Ian & Butch) and eventually you get ostracized. In the online world there are many more women from all over Lima and it is less of a problem (most of the time). On occasion you will be sitting at a table in Z on your first date and you will hear snickering from the corner table (sometime the women are playaz as well)! These are the same one's who do not show up for dates/bring an entourage when they do etc.etc.

The general rule is never bring an online date to the places you normally frequent and it is better to hang with her outside of MF unless you are in your apartment. Which adresses your next point.


Also, never date girls from restuarants,cafes,bars you frequent!


Yes and maybe robbed after. Ride your bike along the Malecon up top between San Isidro and Chorillos




Basically, some girls wish to fall in love and others (younger ones generally) use you for sex/revenge sex . If a girl is a good girl (ie. Mahu type- for the Lima crowd) you become friends and never “hit it”, but still have someone to go out to the movies/museums/dinner with. If she is a “bad girl” pound it till the cow's come home and thank God your living in Lima and “feeling that Lima Vibe”.

The point I want to make is moving somewhere like lima would be a new beginning ..a new chance at life so to speak. I am asking myself would it be wise to think I can come down there to live going through girl after girl without a long term relationship ? At some point wouldn't I get pegged as "one of those" and then very few girls will want to date you.

The major newspaper by far in Peru is called El Comercio. Yesterday´s Sunday paper omitted the "relax" section of the want ads. This has been one of the best sources for chica ads for years, comprising three or so pages. It will be a great loss if this is permanent.

Are you worried about not being accepted into Peruvian society because you are seen hanging out with more than one girl? Doesn´t matter, you will never be accepted no matter how you behave.

Basically the saying: "ojos que no ven, corazon que no siente", is the way things work here. Lima is very hipocritical. Every gerente I ever worked with had an amante on the side. But it isn´t talked about. They take the girls to places where they don´t take the wife. Every now and again the amante gets sick of being a "second class citizen" and starts making calls to the wife. Then the shit hits the fan. Anyway, IMHO the best thing to do is butterfly. But that´s just me. I have no desire for a deep LTR with a girl. I imagine that you do.

This is a good response thank you. I guess deep down yes I would like to establish a formal relationship but I question whether I would be able to do so.

I am turning 39 next month(applause) and I have a newfound respect for time. I'd like to think I can make the most of it. I am one of these guys who shouldn't get married..at least that is what people close to me tell me but I don't know if I am cheating myself by not doing it.
