Great report bro. And complete with the picture! Brings back memories. When I was in Lima last month I set out to go to Troc in the early afternoon. I waited for the bus in Lince, but every one that came said they were not going to Callao. Maybe I was on the wrong side. But since they started that big blue bus down Av. Arequipa, I don't know where to catch the smaller buses. Then I decided to go ahead and get a taxi, but every taxi I asked did not want to go that way. After being in the hot sun about an hour, I decided to just go in and take a nap until my girlfriend got off work.

Yeah it seems like these taxi drivers are used to their routes and don't want to deviate. The reason it was so easy for me was because I'm staying in El Centro near Plaza San Martin, and a lot of people go west to Callao there and vice versa. Today, I was near La Gammara and they didn't want to take me to even Las Cucardas!

Yes, today I walked all the way from Plaza San Martin to La Gammara and back. I walked down Av. Aviacion and looked for El Naranjito, but all the metal gates in the area were shut.

I made a second trip to El Trocadero, to have a session with the hot Peruana I chatted with the night before. It was ok, nothing extraordinary. Out of curiosity, I went into Botecito afterwards. I took a 4 hour (RT) boat ride to swim with sea lions in their natural habitat, it was a wonderful experience. I went to Palvos Azules just to shop at a DVD stall where they have almost every art / independent film. Of course they are bootlegs, 3 DVDs for 10 soles. They have every Woody Allen and John Waters films. I asked for an Indian film and they even had that. BTW, the shop was featured in a short Vice Media segment (find on YouTube). Finally, the food in Lima is awesome. Although. The prices aren't cheap. I think the pollo a la brasa there are almost the same price as in the US.

Thanks for the info. I did make it to El Trocadero tonight. They now close at 10 pm. This was my first time and yes, it was an eye-opener. From the prison architecture, the high number of girls, the open communal pissing trough, everything was a shock to the system. I almost reached the refraction point of "this hobby is such a dirty thing that I'm into". I mean, there is no pretense of chilling and having a drink or appreciating the female form on the stripper pole. There is no bar, no music, no stripper seducing you with her smile while she dances. If you really want to go to a budget joint at night, go to Anaconda / Estacion (across the road). Alonso de Molina 1100 Monterrico Surco. Otherwise the place right next door to Las Cucardas is allright also (La Nene?).

If you really want the Troco experience at night, Huaral has a good local brothel. I think the places out near Huachipa are open at night (Conjitas/etc) but I didn't like them.

Not sure. That's what I was thinking. How much does it cost to make a freaking SIM card for them to want it back? Or do they mean you don't get to keep the phone number?

Thanks. Any idea why El Naranjito is closed? That was the one on 28 de Julio en the Gamarra District. They were an underground operation for sure.
