New to ISG, not new to the hobby. Was very impressed to read the large amount of quality info on your Lima forum. Am headed to Peru in early October to do the Machu Picchu hike thing and planning to visit Lima for several days after surviving. So am posting this to get in front of the questions I may be directing your way. Apparently David is the source of Lima help, every ISG forum could use somebody like that guy I bet. As you were on vacation partially during my stay in Lima, I had told you should one of your girlfriends should be late, or unable to attend or is a no-show please do not worry. I did not want you to be concerned as you are vacationing and I did not want you to stress-out over me. I now see how difficult it is for you to get both parties coordinated to meet. Again, I did not want you to worry.

I do recommend that the new members follow David's suggestions so that it will be easier him to set you up.

Use the official taxis at the airport or make arrangements previously as the independent Lima taxis are not to be trusted.

I used my hotels taxis as I have been using them for years and know them well.

It cost me about 45 SP ($17.00 USD) to and from the LIM (Lima airport).

Also, do not buy a SIM card or rent a telephone at LIM as they are very expensive.

Just go to the main Claro office on Larco and purchase a SIM card and minutes there. It cost me 8 SP (Soles Peruvian), just under $3 USD and I bought 10 SP time to start.

Speaking of LIM, wow, it seems at 00:00 (midnight) is when all the flights arrive as is a complete Mad House!

First, the line to Immigration is endless, then after waiting for your baggage which takes forever you have to go to a very long line in customs where they X-ray your baggage and if you are selected, secondary inspection.

In returning to LIM, plan at least 3 hours to be there as the traffic at ALL hours is Tremendous! There is no freeway system like in LA so please have at least 3 hours arriving at LIM! Also, consider the long lines at the airline counter, the lines at security and immigration. So, again, give yourself at 3 hours to be safe. Things are not as organized say for instance at the US airports of ATL, JFK or LAX.

An apartment rental is better if you are staying more than a couple of days and will be cheaper in the long run.

I stay at a hotel as I know the manager and the hotel chain gives me upgrades and free stays when I accumulate enough points at the end of the year. RTTF for suggestions on apartment rentals.

My suggestions to help make it easier for David to help you out are:

Give David your time and dates of your stay in Miraflores, Lima, Peru.

Cellular telephone number. (buy a Claro SIM card).

Address and apartment name with cross streets. (I. E. J. Larco and 28 de Julio, in front of the Inka Pharmacy etc.).

Type of lady you like. (Young, Middle-aged or Mature, etc.).

Exact time you will be at your place. And you should be waiting at the front door for the lady to make it easier for her as many apartments are very large and difficult to navigate.

Respect the lady at all times!

Pay her the asked amount. (See David).

Pay her a tip for good service if you were happy.

Have fun!

I did bring each lady some small gift for each meeting. I brought them a makeup from Victoria's Secret and other things from America especially chocolates. One comment concerning Peru, the sales tax rate is 18%. That is 18% on all items purchased including food at the supermarket. Wow, that is an incredible high rate of taxation! Also, the US Dollar is at a very bad rate of 2. 7 to the US Dollar so you will need to bring a lot of money.

There are many official "Street Money Exchangers" in Miraflores I saw them all over Miraflores with large amounts of both Soles and Dollars and I thought to myself that they wouldn't last 2 seconds in LA (Los Angeles, California, USA) as they would be robbed blind! I recommend using a Fidelity or Charles Schwab Debit card at an ATM as they refund the ATM fees.

I would highly recommend that you take classes in Spanish if you do not speak Spanish or travel with someone who does as not everyone can speak English. And, of course RTFF to get a sense about Lima.

Anyway, all-in-all I had a great time as usual. I think the Peruvian people are one of the nicest people in the world! A lot of smiley, nice people, try to find this in Panama, good luck, as the Panamanian people seem to be quite angry IMHO! And best of all nice ladies and good food, what more can you ask for.

Wow, I finally made it to LIM!

One day driving to airport and one day in the air taking two flights, the second flight always being late as it is from the main hub of the airline and we always wait for the feeder planes to arrive and then transfer to the LIM flight. Firstly, thanks to David_33 for all the hospitality! No, no way do I deserve the wonderful girlfriends of David. They treat me like a king! Therefore, I must bow my head to you sir and say thank you kindly for your help!

Secondly, like a gentleman, David declined the gift of a "Goodie bag" of things from Costco I usually bring him. P.S: I had not answered 2 PMs. One member wanted to know if his Verizon phone will work in LIM. Call Verizon in the USA to see if their system is proprietary, if so, I do not think it will not work with the "Claro" SIM card or any others here. Just ask Verizon. I think it would be better to buy a cheap "Unlocked, 4 Band International Cellphone" from Amazon.com. That way if you drop and break it or it gets stolen you are not out a lot of money. And you can use it all over the world. Or you could buy a cheap cellphone at the Claro store in Miraflores. Do not buy anything or rent a phone at LIM (Lima Airport). The prices at the LIM airport are super expensive. Go to the main Claro store in Miraflores or any store that has a Claro office.

And another member asked me about restaurants in Miraflores. Wow, where do I start. Why not go to Kennedy Park / Pizza Alley. There you have at least 50-60 places have a meal. Also, LarcoMar Mall, although more expensive is a good choice. But RTFF for members favorite places. My favorite place is "La Lucha" in Kennedy Park and in LarcoMar.

This report ended up being much longer than I thought it would be, so I'm breaking it up into two parts: this first part details my first 2 dates with David's girls, and the second part covers the third date. First off, I will repeat what others have said before: try to get an apartment (in Miraflores) instead of staying at a hotel. Even girl friendly hotels (if they exist) are a hassle. I used a rental website already recommended here and it worked perfectly well. When the girls arrived, the porter called using the intercom, I told them to send them up and 2 minutes later they were at the door. No questions asked, no muss, no fuss. Another reason why an apartment is great is that you get more space for everything. I had 3 bedrooms, so I had a personal room to sleep in and keep my stuff, and 2 rooms for playing with the girls. It had 2 full baths, so again, one for me when I was alone and another for when the girls were around. The full kitchen with the large fridge allowed me to keep a stock of beers, sodas, snacks etc, which were a great way to break the ice with the girls when they arrived and for taking breaks in between sessions. Try doing any of this in a tiny hotel room with one bath and two towels. Keep in mind that if you use one of these online apartment rental sites, you need to make sure you get the whole apartment to yourself and are not renting a room in someone's house or apartment. There are some websites (e.g. Airbnb) that rent both kinds and it would be awkward if you were staying in the house of a nice Peruvian family with 3 kids and a dog and were trying to bring girls in.

Also, get a phone with a local SIM. The girls use these to let you know they are on their way, they are downstairs, etc. You may not need it but it is useful if the girl is running late or can't find your place. I didn't need it for the first 2 arrangements but for the third, the girls were coming from separate places and both were late so when I started wondering if they were coming at all, I contacted David and soon after both were contacting me to let me know where they were.

Ok, on to the report. I got in touch with David a few days before I left for Lima via PM. There was some back and forth since he wanted to know what I was looking for. I recommend you address all 6 or 7 points on his questionnaire, letting him know exact location, date and time, preferred physical attributes, likes and dislikes, etc. You need to be precise and don't be bashful, David's probably heard everything by now. But would I repeat?... No.
