In my experience the best rate is if you just withdraw cash soles from the ATM. Some of this depends, however, on what fees, if any, your bank or credit card will charge you for the transaction. It's always a good idea to check first and even to open up an account before you leave with a no-fee credit card.

I have never used the street changers, but I hear they're the next best thing. I'm just not comfortable transacting that kind of cash in the middle of the street, especially when I'm walking away alone.

I was in Lima last week and had a good time. I stayed in Miraflores in the Larco Suites, which are GF. No problem bringing women up to my room, and the desk people are very friendly and helpful. I had a large sitting room, decent bathroom (no tub) and a big bedroom for $50 per night. No AC, which might be an issue as the weather heats up now, but was no problem while I was there. Not luxury, but good for the money, and aintained very clean.

I took one woman off the street for S/100. She was a 6 or 7, friendly good conversation, okay sex. I took one woman home from a house (date arranged for her day off at the house). She was great sex, good conversation, and we had a lot of fun for two dates. Total $100 US.

I got in a rut at 326 Pedro Conde (Just off of Petit Thouars), trying out three different women in three days. Price varied from woman to woman, from S 160 for an hour to S100 for half an hour. That was for a massage, sex, etc. With woman naked. You can also pay S 30 for a massage and HJ with woman fully clothed for 30 minutes.

I tried out the Finnish Sauna which is around the corner and one block down from Pedro Conde (towards Miraflores. Sorry I forgot to write down the street name, but it is in the paper every day). Entry includes only use of the facilities and a massage for S 35. If you want more you pay the woman what you negotiate. I found the prices pretty high for the services (quoted $100 for sex total, but declined that). I couldn't get the woman to come down, so settled for HJ at S 60 because I was horney. The women were nice, but maybe thought I would pay more because I am such a gringo.

The Finnish Sauna has nice facilities, and the staff were friendy although somewhat aloof.

There is a major crime war going on between some drug mafias, and a couple guys got shot down in the middle of the day right in front of the cop shop downtown. The rest of the violence is the typical domestic type squabbles with guys cutting up their women and vice versa. Not really stranger on stranger or victimizing tourists.

I do not find the Limenos to be rude. Quite the contrary. Most people react very friendly if you are courteous. However, the city is a big dirty palce, and they are polluting the heck out of the environment, like most other poor countries.

The dollar is not as good as it was, so prices are creeping up. But the women for hire are usually very good about providing value for the buck once you agree on a price. The women in the houses are not knockout babes, but will f: k your brains out if you treat them nice.

I agree with LB re: the noise in Lima. Been to lots of places: BK, Jakarta, Saigon, BA etc.. and Lima can take the cake. Speaking of course mainly in the Downtown area. Constant, incessant horn-honking; when the traffic is at a total standstill as if the honking was going to help. The diesel engines and loud music; it can be very stressful. Of course you can avoid DT...

That being said; Lima is a great place with some of the best food and most interesting people and needs to visited by the consummate traveler.

He wrote that Lima is full of people that don't respect themselves, it is ridden with drugs and is the most polluted place on earth and the water at the beaches are toxic and finally Peruvians are extremely rude! Is this true? He also mentioned he has been robbed at gun point 2x. I am used to South American cities and just returned from Bogotá weeks ago. Is Lima any different?

No luck so far on an apartment so how about a hotel recommendation?

Overly generalistic and did not include that Lima is the noisiest city in LA, but I think there are other places on the planet that also have a lot to offer! Try www.go2peru.com if nothing on the hotel thread strikes your fancy.

This guy is the least controversial, most sex-focused poster on this forum. For that alone he should be commended. But he isn't that alone. I went to my second of Sly's sex parties last night and the guy outdoes himself every time. This one was in Sly's new huge apartment with a hottub, sweeping views, an orgy room and toys, condoms and lube all for use.

Yes, he does charge a fee to attend, which this time was $80. I challenged him on this since it was considerably higher than last time. After he ran down all his costs, plus that he pays the girls a few bucks, it was clear that not only does he not make a profit from these parties but he doesn't even get reimbursed for his time. This guy just gets off on group sex and has chicas to share. No newcomer to Lima should miss one of his parties. Personally I'm not big on public or group sex, but I went because it is something different that I can't do in the US. I didn't regret it.

There were about 6 girls and 5 guys at this one, the girls ranging from 6-9, most in the 7-8 bracket. The girls were great peformers, very accomodating and playful. The guys, well, they stayed out of my way, just like I like. A splendid time was had by all, and thank you Sly, for the blast!

I am a short time lurker and learned a lot from here. I have been to Lima only once last year and only for 4 days. Was wondering if any suggestions on meeting girlfriend types ? Clubs, resturants or the like. I will be there in two weeks and tentatively will stay in Miraflores.

Hey,

I've never been to Peru but putting a trip together at the end of Febuary with a friend. I have been reading the report but still need some info on where I should stay. I like apartments but it seems the guys here that rent them have them sold out. Here is what I would like to accomplish while in Peru. I would like to be close to bars and shopping in miraflores (unless someone has a better idea). I like reguar bars and really not much into p4p other than maybe slipping in a bar for a drink when bored and telling the girls they charge too much in an attempt to better the prices for you guys that frequent these establishments. I like tennis and I like to surf or anything with being outside during the day that involves breaking a sweat. I guess I should see Machu Picchu while there so how does one get there from Lima? I read somewhere that there are some cool little beach towns south of Lima for surfing and partying, does anyone have any names. Also if anyone wants to take us on a tour or get together for a drink please don't hesitate to pm me. Oh; yes I do speak spanish and I will continue reading the report. How about a cheat sheet for a newbie?

I got your PM and will respond asap on the Penthouse availability. I know the Miraflores bachelor Pad is booked all summer except for dates she posted as open on the Lima hotel forum page. You can also check out Flyingaces new apartment reservation site posted recently in the same thread. Alternatively A lot of apartments are listed on www.travel-library.com and they appear on other sites as well.

For outdoor activities look for a place close by Malecon Cisnero´s in Miraflores. I can hook you up with Tennis at a nearby private club. Also have a buddy that is a licenced pilot if you are into para-sailing.

As Cat mentioned Manuel is my driver and surfing instructor and can show you the best breaks south of here. (Punta Hermosa,San Bartolo,punta rocas,etc..
alternatively there are several famous surfing schools here that will take you out on day trips. Also if you are a young dude, get to know the surfing gang that hangs every evening at Addios Chow and grab a philly cheese steak.

Most of the regular bars are either in Larco Mar,Calle Pizzas or on San Martin which are where my places are. Each one has certain nights when they are best and also different age groups. When you get here the Lima crew can point you in the right direction.

Macchu Picchu- Is going to be a problem in February as they experience torrential rains and Cusco is a ghost town then. You can do as you want but probably read the Cusco thread and post your questions on www.tripadvisor.com.

If you are into the non-pro scene then you will be back to Lima frequently and can do Cusco on another trip. For planning purposes give your self at least 3-4 days for that trip.

i just sit here at the swimming pool, scratching my head and trying to remember when i posted private details of somebody... i remember that private details about me were posted one time, and they are still not removed from the thread. but that i posted some private infos of somebody would surprise me - it would definitely kill my business here in bangkok.

anyway - i wrote lots of reports, and was involved in some flame wars, and when i got the right to moderate my own forum i was not very experienced in dealing with a forum of that size - there were for sure some mistakes i made when i was still young . and may be i was just making a mistake to get involved in this discussion.

generally i find it not acceptable to post any pms or private information, under what circumstances ever. if there are serious private issues to be clarified between members they should do this under 4 eyes/ears outside the forum.

as i mentioned before - i don't know the peru forum. i read a bit now, and i find it very difficult to make up my mind how to proceed. this is why i also did not vote up to now.

the facts i see:

- the forum was running quietly and smoothly some times ago, some real quality reports can be found in here,

- one of the opponents writes a lot now, and even moderates the forum moderator. i know this kind of posters from the thailand forum,

- another opponent writes emotionally, attacks others, publishes pms. though i can understand situations in which things get emotional - it is not the best way to avoid problems and clarify issues,

- a third party is obviously involved in the background, not mentioned in the survey directly,

- the ongoing discussion about an **** issue - i know this from the thailand board, and this issue nearly killed the forum some years ago. i can only recommed to immediately stop this discussion.

Periodically this name pops here though the majority of the local members do not go here. It is basically a curiosity for first time visitors and I certainly feel everyone should experience it at least once (preferably in the warmer months).

That being said those of us with cars will pop by for a BJ when we happen to be in the area. A couple of weeks ago I happened to be in Callao about 9 pm. I knew before hand that I would be there albeit a bit earlier as it closes at 10pm and really should not be visited after 7 or so.

I was about 7 mins away when I got a phone call from a ISG´r, who happened to be in town and wanted to get together for a drink. I did not have enough time to stop at the Troc and get back all the way cross town to Miraflores.

It took me 45 mins in the traffic around La Marina, but I made it back and enjoyed a few whiskey´s before he left. Now being 12 pm I did not want to go home, so I left my car and took a walk along the stroll. Stopped by a few places but no one was out and about and so I headed back to the car. Along the way I ran into a girl who I had seen and talked to on a few occasions.

We talked for a few minutes and she asked me where I was going. I told her I was going to pick up my car and she asked for a lift home, telling me she lived in Barranco with her Dad but he was away working and I could come by. I got a little suspicous but she assured me she was 18. I really did not mind driving her home but did not want to go in her house and did not want to settle for a BJ while driving, so I brought her up to the Penthouse as a friend was staying there but up in Cusco for a few nights.

She gets undressed on the terrace and disappointment sets in as she is sporting the smallest hardest bolt-ons I have ever seen or touched. As a member of various boards, I have seen the bickering and name calling that often happens between certain members. I myself got involved in one several years ago. I just wish that everyone would treat the others with respect and courtesy as one wants to be treated himself. It is not a hard thing to do and we would benefit greatly from it. I´ve noticed that many times after a flame war, one or both sides will stop posting or participating in providing valuable information that everyone would benefit from having. It is a shame that a majority will suffer from the actions of just a few inconsiderate persons.

I had a hard time getting used to Lima the first week. It’s a big city and hard to get to know, but once I lost my US attitude I was able to get my groove on and meet a lot of people. But I’ll never, ever go there again this time of year. My mood is real susceptible to weather, and the total lack of sun in Lima was almost intolerable. But I’ll be back for sure in the summer!

Well, I think I’ve rambled on long enough. I just want to close by thanking all you old-timers here on the forum for being so helpful. It was a real pleasure meeting some of you.
