Go! From what I've been read, there was no or very minimal damage in Miraflores and the rest of Lima. Most of the severe damage & fatalities were south of Lima closer to the epicenter. The quake was 25 miles deep so the damage was more isolated to areas closer to the epicenter. Nevertheless, a devastating disaster if you lost your home or love one.

Hey guyz,
Please let us know your opinion three of us friends have planned a trip to Lima from August 19th through August 24, 2007.
Please advice about the situation in Miraflores and in Lima. Should we cancel our trip?
Regards,
John.

On the lighter side this is a photo taken near Ica (near epicenter off the coast).
I understand from friends that the palm trees are still standing.....but the girl fell down!

The guys in it at the time were "freaked" and I got them hotel rooms on a low floor. Ian was going to rent Rosita's bachelor pad for the month, but he just got upgraded to the Penthouse (I suspect a party this weekend) and the Penthouse guys will move over to rosita's tommorow after the guys in there now leave tonight.
The next group for the penthouse (Arab's) cancelled this morning, So if you want to come down later this month (I will give you a deal)ja ja.
You are right about Rosita, the whole reason we started renting it out was because she freaks! Currently we live on the Malecon (1st floor) and my medical prescriptions bills are about to go through the roof.
Now more fodder for the "P Putz" to talk to himself about.

Since I'm not sure where to post this message I will start here.
I have many clothes I can bring to Lima. Please let me know if anyone has family or friends in need and I can bring them to Lima and would hopefully assist in anyway.
Much love.

Posts: 2289Glad everyone is doing okay so far. I've only been through mid 5.x earthquakes, and those were bad enough, so I'm sure it scared the shit out of everyone. Hopefully no more big 6-7 magnitude ones!
LB, how did your penthouse fare? I recall Rosita being freaked out about being in an earthquake in it.

Posts: 3851Im glad to hear everyone is safe. My first trip to peru was traveling on a bus south from lima towards arequipa. I visited all of those towns mentioned in the quake. My heart goes out to the people.
I emailed 2 girls I know in lima and only one has answered. She lives in san miguel and said everything was fine. How is the centro doing ?
Im thinking of coming down for a month in mid september. Now I dont know if its the right time to do it. Ill wait and see.

For your kind words and especially Polvo for your kind offer. Sitting in Zeta now and the aftershocks are rolling thru every few minutes about 300 so far. 337 dead so far is the last official number but we expect it to be alot higher when they get thru the rubble.
The earthquake hit at 6:40 pm, interestingly enough, I was scheduled to go to a seminar at the S.A.E. at 7 pm on earthquake preparedness!
