I will be in Lima between Feb 1 and Feb 12. I am also on a budget so I will be heading to the trocadero and possible cucardas for action. At the trocadero you can find some hidden gems for about $7 for 20 minutes. Most of them are not very attractive but there are some that are worth doing. So if you are in Lima on those dates PM me.

Gentlemen,

I have really enjoyed reading the posts and pictures and thank you all for sharing wonderful information. Peru was not on my radar but from the posts it looks like a place that I will enjoy.

There are some assumptions and doubts that I need help with. Thanks in advance for the help I am sure I will find here.

Background:
I'm 30, fit, tall, new yorker (but was born in India and actually look more middle eastern than Indian), been to a few countries but only Rio in South America.

Assumptions:
1. I did pretty good in Rio with only English. Assuming I will be Ok in Lima. I did Ok in Dominican Republic also.
2. Country is generally stable and that crime is not a highlight of the society. (I take the necessary precautions and know that its not my country)
3. If Rio looked Ok to me, expense wise, Lima should be similar (hotels, women, food ...)
4. Outside of women, there are enough things to do in Lima to have a good 10-12 day holiday.
5. There are places open till 2-3 AM. it looks like Mira Flores is the main area where most mongers prefer staying and if i like getting up at 10:30-11:00 AM and sleeping at 3-4:00 AM, I will have options.
6. I love walking. If I take a place in Mira Flores, I am assuming that I can walk to the hang out places instead of going point to point in cab all the time. I love staying in the middle of shopping areas, so that i can do window shoping by the day and walk to restaurants / clubs / bars at the night. (Comparision - staying in copacabana and walking to Help at night)


Doubts:
1. I am every bit a new yorker but I am a Sikh and look much differet than blond hair/blue eyes. I do not usually wear my turban when on holiday but have my hair in a pony and my long beard, all unruly. In Rio, I had incredible success in just being Indian. For some reason, being from america always took things into a political Q&A which I hate. I dropped all reference of NY by day three in Rio and it was fun all the way from there on. Got invited to peoples homes and one of the freebies, later told me that its not every day she gets to hang around with an Indian :-)
What should I be prepared for in Lima? (For those mongers who can get a response from their trusted women friends, I will really appreciate it)

2. How is the nationalistic feeling there? is everyone all ready to get out of lima for greener pastures elsewhere or they are proud to be peruvians?

3. Culturally, how is the relation between a man and a woman? That is - A typical city girl in her 20s, does she usually look forward to pleasing her man or do they get so much attention by men that they expect men to take care of their every whim and wish?
(Please assume a average middle class peruvian woman and man from the same background)

4. Outside of tourism / mongering is the country a common business destination? ( if so, niche businesses or major industries)

5. How big a role does money play, in an average person's life? That is, would people usually work overtime for a few extra bucks or would they prefer spending time with families and friends?

Thanks for all the great info and pictures in this forum. I spend most of my mongering time in the Philippines, where I always have a great time with some very beautiful women in a very beautiful country. I tend to go once a year for about 5 weeks, budgeting myself about $110 American a day, so by the end of the trip I've dropped about $4000. This is definitely more than enough to have a good time in PI. After looking through the Peru forum, and looking at some of the photos, I am definitely thinking of changing things up this year, and heading to Lima for 5 weeks. The problem is, I am still working with the same budget, and although different posts seem to suggest different things, it is apparent that Peru is a little more expensive than PI on all accounts (hotels, food, & girls etc.). So the crux of this post is to get some advice from some Peru veterans whether or not I can have fun on my budget in Peru (Lima or elsewhere). I will have $110-120 American per day over 5 weeks, which has to cover hotel, food, entertainment, and women. Is it realistic to think that I can do this in a little bit of style? I don't expect 5 star hotels, but I would like a nice clean place that won't scare the ladies away. Even if it is a Condo/hotel, that I can rent for a month. Jaja, as LB points out as well it seems even the married guys get more play then they can handle. Just have to be a little more discreet about it i guess.

Actually, I retired from mongering about 2 years ago but I still enjoy the "hunt" I just don't partake in the kill anymore. For the past 3-4 months I have been chased by a 18 y/o (who claims to want my love-child). Initially, I was flattered with her attention but it has lost its lustre. She was a pornstar a few years back in a land down under and this and the "monger curse" are additional reasons I did not partake.

Just as a side note: I am amazed at how nice and gentlemen like the posters from the Peru forum are compared to the Colombia forum. Those guys are constantly at eachothers throats, Whats up with all that figthing?

We have our moments but generally "The Mayor" keeps us in line.

Cat, Let me clarify things, sorry for the confusion, I only offer freindship, with a cultural and language exchange, thats it. I teach ingles part time professionally at a school, so thats what I mean they are intrigued that a professoro de ingles wants to be friends. Its a case where they take advantage of the situation and I do too, so its a win on both sides.

Yo voodooman, "I love the voodoo that you do" your post are the bomb. I hear you that Lima is a secreto, thats one of the main reasons why Im holding off on Rio, not to discount it but Lima seems a far far better value and when you factor in that in Lima is world reknown for its food I beleive its a no brainer, t least for me anyway. Good food, plenty of women and a decent exchange rate sounds like a winner to me. Im 38 so I still dig partyin but I do like to have a nice dinner with a beautiful chica on my arm and top it off doing the "horizantal Mambo" later that nite.

Ill still probably will teach ingles at a school during the days because thats a direct wire into the culture and your assimilation and "being in the know" is that much more accelerated, and yes i have dated some of my adult students from the school.

I know when I come in July itll be Winter in Lima, how cold does it get? Do you need a jacket in the daytime? Undershirts, leather etc. i researched the temp and its said low 60s F to high 50s but Im sure the air is different, so your igh 59s are diffrent than the ones in the US. If anyone can shed light on this, please do.

Just my opinion...I would wait to place any type of ad until you get down here, I'm not sure what your age is, but I am 30yo, average looking guy...been living here for better half of the year, and all I can say is if your a foreignor, the women will find you. For the top notch chicas just walking around the mall or hitting the various night spots, and you'll have more than your fair share of nice chicas. A little espanol goes far.

I personally don't have the patience to go through that whole myspace or newspaper ad process. I prefer to drink beer and shake my ass on the dance floor on the weekends, and find my hottie for the night..week..month...whatever. But then again ths just me.

and Myspace are both popular down here. I have written before about guys sitting in "Z" phishing and then getting them to come down or stripping on their webcams. It goes without saying this is basically for guy's in their 20's who are living down here!

The only thing that sucks about the social networking sites like Hi5.com is you run the risk of epileptic seizure just looking at the average page. 4 or 5 videos, music, and all the animated graphics together add up to potential danger.

Well, Cat I dont see all 60 plus women so you might not be on the Bill Gates, rich mans track just yet in terms of buying stock. jeje But I have a process much like any other job process, where I return phone calls, take notes and find out which country their from, age, easy to talk to, how many kids, if their space cadets and so forth. Its kinda fun because you run into all kinds, but you can filter them out then I meet them and filter again. Once you get into a Rhythm your never without at least 5 girls. I also keep records on how fast I get them to do "the horizontal mambo with me" and the winner is this girl from Argentina, 20 min. flat unbelievable. But there are some nice one too, who are just sweet girls.

I agree with you that it is a time intensive process, but thats the one place where I am rich, in time. Ill be ther for 6 months or more teaching ingles.

Fair enough. I don't see how 1 week trips will give me enough time to find a quality woman.
