Well, I have to say that my experiences here were cheaper, less weird and (probably) better.

All along the main drag from the Radisson, you will get handed little slips of paper with addresses of massage places. There is no massage! But for about $12 US you can get some pretty decent (always covered for everything, in my experience) full service.

There is no point in me giving you the addresses, as they only put a mook on the streets handing out the slips when they are open, so I might send you to a closed place. One of my 'friends' from one location offered my a TLN for $50. None of these ladies were stunning (go to Brazil or BA), but they we all young, cute and reasonably willing.

It's certainly not a 'destination', but it's not the armpit that the messages here seem to suggest!

Waiting to leave Montevideo late in the evening by bus, I wanted to kill some time by visiting the bar Pikaro's, which was located within walking distance from my hotel, the Radisson. I found Pikaro's to be an oddity with rather strange shows on offer. The ladies working by the bar tried to make conversation but were not overly aggressive.

As I sat watching a the show I made eye contact with the dancer who proceeded to dance for me on an exclusive basis. There were not that many people at the bar at that time as it was still not too late, so I was not embarrassed by the extra attention.

When her dance act was over, the girl, who was about 19, and had a hot body and an attractive smile proceed to sit next to me by the bar. I offered her a drink and as our conversation progressed she offered to accompany her my hotel. However I explained that I would have to leave town late in the evening and therefore could not accept her offer to which she said she could still offer me a quick blow job. I told her that I no longer had a hotel room but she told me that if I wanted to release my load, to wait for her outside Pikaro's, down a street corner. "Star Bene" in Montevideo (MVD)

There is some hope in MVD if you like comfortable houses. The place I found through a friendly taxi driver is called "Star Bene" and is located on Ramón Fernandez 285 (Continuation of Ellauri street). Tel 710-2368. Ask any taxi driver in MVD to take you to the Sheraton hotel next to the Shopping Center Punta Carretas. With the Sheraton and the shopping center in your back, walk uphill away from the ocean until you hit the intersection of Ellauri/Ramón Fernandez = same street. Go left, walk 1 block, cross the street Garcia Cortinas and then you will see on the street Ramon Fernandez on your right hand side a house sitting a little back with a white awning with Star Bene written on it. They are open Mon, Tue, Wdn and Sat from 1 pm to 11 pm and Thr and Fri from 1 pm to midnight. Closed on Sundays. Most girls will show up for work after 3 or 3:30 pm. After ringing the doorbell, a normal dressed woman will lead you in and always ask you in Spanish, have you been here before. Just say yes and take a seat on the sofa or big chairs to your left. You think you are in the wrong place because all you see are 2-3 old big barber chairs and a small bar. The woman will offer you a drink and slowly 2 or 3 girls will show up. They are normal dressed and will just sit down and talk to you, most of it in Spanish, which I could understand ok.
None of them was a real knock-out just some young 20-26 year old girls working in the afternoon or early evening. The last time I have been there (1 US $ ~ 27 pesos) the prices were as follows: The box (a small room, no bed, just a massage table) 600 pesos (US $ 22.00), a room (with a big bed) 900 pesos (US $ 33) and the Jacuzzi room 1200 pesos (US $ 44). The girls like the room best because their cut is as follows: box 600 = 300 for the house and 300 for the girl, room 900 = 500 house and 400 for the girl, and Jacuzzi room 1200 = 800 house and 400 for the girl. So they will get the same from the regular room as they get from the Jacuzzi room, except they have to clean the Jacuzzi room themselves afterwards, and getting the room ready is faster.

After talking to 3 girls I decided to ask Rosana, a small girl about 22 years old with long dark hair to go to the room with me. She showed me the way to a changing room, gave me a key to a locker and I took a shower, with my cloth and money safely locked away. In the locker were flip-flop sandals, a towel and white bathrobe. The 3 shower stalls were clean, next to a big wooden sauna. She disappeared and after I was done she lead the way upstairs and we got into the room. She did not ask for the money, began undressing me and reached nicely with her two hands under my bathrobe and we began foreplay. We undressed her and her BBBJ was ok, but nothing special. We had a nice relaxing session, nothing extra ordinary. The whole time I felt comfortable, safe and clean. She did not watch the clock and I think said at the beginning the time is for around 1 hour. All in all nothing special, but a safe place to screw around with a friendly girl, without the hassle of smelly bars and buying drinks for girls, which they only get a fraction of the money. I personally prefer these places and I am sure you can get things done with only a little English.

Guys, I agree on the fact that Montevideo is not the top of the paradises (and the current economic crisis does not help to show it under a brighter light), but I can share a not-so-bad/better-than-nothing experience I had there, although it dates back to July 2002.

Try the bar Pikaro's, located at walking distance from Radisson Hotel, in an upscale district of the town. The bar offered a variety of shows, ranging from cabaret to lap dance, to sex live (a fat male animal fucking hard a tapered dancer ...). Although there were several ladies working there, you could sit at the bar and have your drink in peace, no least compulsion to offer them a drink. Prices were simply ridicolous. If you liked a girl, of course she was supposed to be available to join you. The one I picked was something impressive. She was very young, 19 she said, could have been true. Her name was Carolina. We named her La Colegiala after her show. The show was divided into 2 parts: she began dancing La Colegiala dressed and acting like an innocent baby schoolgirl, and in the course of the show she progressively changed into a sexy and fatal lap dancer, getting rid of her colegiala-like socks, skirt etc and giving everybody a perfect insight of her young and slim body. Since her face looked very cute and sweet, the overall effect was terrific IMHO. And since after her show nobody took care of her, I invited her to join me at my table. My Spanish skills helped a lot. This combination of sweet and sexy was something unusual that was worth my time - and my mates fully agreed on this!. She would go out with me although, since she was on duty, I would have to pay. But I was with business partners and decided not to leave, so I don't know how much I was supposed to pay to get that sweet&sexy beauty available for the rest of the night, but I would be surprised if it were more than 50$. Montevideo was sad and abandoned, the summer moves all the action to Punta del este, as I´ve been told. My friend Veronica (see below) lost her cellular and has no way to find her in advance.
If you are in Montevideo for other reason try to find her in Whiskeria Bahia, beginning at 10 pm. (Javier Barrios Amorin, corner with Colonia). Ask for "Debora" , buy her one drink and treat her kind. Price: around USD20 for more than an hour. No other good options.

Spent a couple days in Montevideo. Bottom Line: do not go there looking for sex. If you happen to be there for some other reason, then good luck. The boate scene is pretty poor. Maybe it would be better to try a massage parlor or classified ads.

The sex bar scene is pretty bad. Went to a place called Baires (which is supposedly a good place) and was not impressed with the girls. Fat and ugly and very pushy in wanting drinks. I left without picking up a girl because it was just disappointing (and I knew I was going to Brazil after Uruguay). Boy do I love Brazilian garotas.

There are some other places that are worse. They seem to try to make money off the sailors that come into town.

All in all, a pretty disappointing scene. Not recommended as a hobby destination.

Yah, I agree on the Harbour bars -- I couldn't find them either. I don't know where I originally read someone descriobing them (here, in the archives, or on some old post on *************.com). Dunno. I fucking WALKED around that whole section of Montevideo looking for them -- then took a cab and looked for them -- and couldn't find shit.

Don't waste your time. Goto to the clubs I talked about in the archive section.

You can check advertisements in EL Pais (WWW.diarioelpais.com.uy). You must register and then go to "Clasificados" (upper right) there you can find "servicios" and then "mensajes especiales".

There you can find nice "whiskerias" :I reccomend one on Barrios Amorin st., one block from 18 de Julio. There I met the best of the best: a blond bombshell called Veronica. Today I decided to check out the beaches for action with pros, and non pros.

Next time I'm there, perhaps I'll take one for the team and review a Prive apartment.

But I think that some Spanish skills are a little more mandatory in Uruguay than in Argentina, just my experience though.
