I found this site when researching a trip earlier this year when I was in Buenos Aires. I took a two day trip to Montevideo, but not much of a trip report to post since I visited on a Sunday and Monday. What I did see is that there is a lot of potential opportunities as indicated by those that posted from their trips. The "Pocito" area is a nice place to stay but a little bit away from the sites shown on the maps in the above site.

Its mostly dead at this point. Of the bars, Baires is open (strip club) and is asking for a 300 entrance fee. Ricas is free entry, and there were 2 girls inside (a 6 and a 7) and not really worth the time. Nice people though. Its rather depressing walking through the city at night. There's apparently a Korean place on ciudadela behind the Radisson- its next to the second Korean restaurant there, which is a hole in the wall but quite good food. I haven't had a chance to go there yet as there are no signs in any language besides Korean so I'm not sure if they're welcoming. I'm of Asian origin but not Korean which makes it difficult, and I don't really speak Spanish.

Will see if I can dig up more info. Here for 2 more days.

I need some assistance from anyone familiar with Montevideo. I'm looking at visiting in January and need some suggestions for a girl friendly hotel with a pool / grounds close to several casa's, a $ 100 a night hotel would be okay, and ideally looking for a hotel nearby a known SW area. I've read a lot of the posts and am aware there is a casa map but there is very little information on SW areas and no mention of Hotels and which areas to stay in Montevideo. Any information would be appreciated, thanks.
