i landed and only had us$20 on me. i changed it at a booth and got about 40,000 bolivars. boy, i thought, just like colombia, dr, ecuador, peru, this 40,000 is going to take me a long way. wrong! since my flight arrived at 8pm, the little airport-city shuttle bus had already stopped. so when old girl arrived we had to take a taxi to her house. we went to the near end of the airport and she asked a driver how much it would be. he said $75. damn, i thought, she must live a hell of a long way. i gave her the money that i had exchanged. here baby, i only have 40,000 bolivars on me. she said that it was okay and she would pay the rest. so we went to the other end to find a cheaper taxi. she told me not to speak. $50, he said. she said it was a bargain and we hopped in and went to her house. (she actually lives in the barrio, but same same.) i set my stopwatch as always. 18m30s of highway driving and we arrive at the bottom of the barrio just off the exit. the rest of the night was just formality, stretching the ten minute walk up the hill out by stopping to meet cousins and aunts and having a beer with the family and finally getting to the house for a home-cooked meal followed by intense fucking.

she lives in her own house (shack) with her son. i would say the whole place is 20ftx10ft (yeah i live in the states and we are still on the assbackwards system). that includes kitchen/couch(10x10) separated by a doorway curtain that leads to the bedroom (5x10), which is separated by a wall to the bathroom/closet(5x10). her and her 15 year-old son share bunkbeds. but he does have sense enough to go to his friend's or cousin's houses at times to give us privacy.

the next day all three of us headed to the beach. we took one bus (the little ones that are independently owned) to downtown and another to the beach. the whole day she paid for everything because i had not been to an atm. two hours passed before we arrived at the beach, which is just 10 minutes on the other side of the airport. this must have been one of the worst beaches i have seen in my life. no sand, just dark brown dirt. and the dirtiest water. i ended up biting the bullet and getting in the water anyway.

we headed back to the house to take showers and go to dinner. but thinking of going up and down that hill, i said baby why not eat now, then go home to take showers and rest before going out. good idea she said. so when we got off the bus close to the barrio we walked to a restaurant. and a basic restaurant it was. we had 1 whole rotisserie chicken, boiled potatoes (nothing fancy, not even butter... just peeled, cut in half and boiled), her son had a personal-sized pizza, we had three glasses of juice and one bottle of water. $50 (fifty fucking dollars/87,000 fucking bolivars). i could have sworn the bill was wrong, but after looking at the menu again i went ahead and put it on my card.

so we leave there and go to the atm. baby, how much money will we be needing to go out tonight? well the taxi will be about $50 and we will spend about $75 at the club. $125 for a night out in a third-world socialist country? you have to be fucking kidding me. uh baby. i don't think we are going out tonight. there is no way i am going to spend more to go out here than i would in my own damn country. so we went back to the house to take showers, talk, watch music dvds and fuck.

when i left the next morning there was at least a 20 minute walk to catch the shuttle van (good thing i travel light). the shuttle was $6/person to the airport. i think it runs from 6am to 7pm, as for the location where you pick it up and it drops you...god only knows.

summary: this place is not recommended.
    1) i know there are some blackmarket people where you can get us$ exchanged for twice the interbank exchange but everything will still be fairly expensive.
    2) the women were not all that. you probably would not give them a second look. i think my girl was the best i had seen.
    3) my friends tell me that other cities in venezuela are much cheaper than caracas.
    4) i can not speak on p4p or hotels, but judging from the price of everything else...jesus!
    5) y'all are grown men. make your own decision. maybe your experience will be different than mine, but why risk it. go to colombia or dr instead.

p.s. if anyone knows how the favelas in rio look just picture one big city full of them. that is caracas.
too bad you had such a bad time.

i've had some great times in caracas. trust me ... there are lots of hot chicas in caracas.

it's definitely not as user friendly as colombia. i never used atms, always exchanged money black market, and knew the places to go.

    good luck ....

I used many times before, he pick me up from the airport, took me everywhere i requested and make sure i got back to the hotel safe. He help me with the translation when getting girls. He can also take you ot the beach.
Dont know if anyone can speak more about him, but he is top notch in my book. IM if u want his email.

    Getting from the airport

I use a local car service. They recently picked me up Sunday night at the airport at 23:30 from a trip outside of Caracas and took me to my house on the other side of downtown.

The trip was 20 minutes, the driver had been waiting for me almost an hour. The cost was 80,000 Bolivars or 16 dollars at the free market rate. I paid in local currency. I don't think the driver would have complained if I had just given him a 20 dollar bill.

I don't think they speak English. But if any of you are interested I can post their phone number.

    Hotels in Caracas

I am living in Caracas. the Grand Melia is a great hotel in a crappy part of town, near stripper bars and SW corners. The Marriott or Embassy Suites is near/in El Rosal which is neighborhood to most of the upmarket love hotels like the Hotel American Dallas.

You will notice on Sexy Caracas (which has a stanglehold on most P4P adverts) that the majority of girls operate in El Rosal. If you are just coming to fuck, you might want to see how much it would cost to book one of those hotels and skip the pretense of chica friendly.

You should have read this section a little closer

of course you had a bad time. you paid official prices! any atm or credit card will get you raped. any and all mongers should arrive here with a huge wad of cash carefully hidden throughout their body and luggage. the larger the denominations the better. the beach you went to is a craphole beach because it is accessible by bus. all the poor people go there, [CodeWord134] in the water and don't pick up after themselves. the nice beaches are only accessible by car.

shopping for a fuck on line is always high risk in my book. you could have wound up in a hairdresser's favela in rio, lima or bogota.

in conclusion, venezuela is not the destination for the casual monger. you come here if you have scoured the forum, made a plan and brought a wad of cash.

Look up the Free Market Exchange Rate

Google "dolar permuta" or "euro permuta" to find out the free market rate that you can get from individual traders. The permuta rates are essentially a futures rate so there will be a slight variation. Also the farther away the trader is from Caracas, the better the rate you are likely to get. Today the futures rate is 5,100 Bolivars to the dollar.

    Caracas

Try Valencia its somewhat cheaper, just 4 days ago I got 6150 bolivares per dollar, I was with a friend a native of Caracas and this was in Caracas.

If you go try Sexyvalencia.com, I was satisfied with Tahis, and later Carol.

I've read on another board that on black market dollar was at 6300 bolivares, and Euro around 9200.

    Venezuela seems damn cheap currently.
