arriving in Caracas on Tuesday, Jan 17 with girlfriend for a week in Venezuela. Wanted to visit Isla for a couple of days, then Caracas. Anybody know the price of flights from Car to Isla? how often do they fly and what is the airline name.

Anyplace to recommend for a hotel on Isla? My lady heard that it is cheaper in Ven. in January than Cartagena. Anybody compare the prices?

Thanks for the suggestion - an email address is a much better idea. The Sol de Margarita (paper) doesn't have an online ad submission so I guess I'll have to wait till I get there to place an ad. My Spanish isn't good enough to try to place an ad over the phone.

I'm going to look for a last minute deal to Cartagena in Feb or March if I can fit it into my budget, I should still have one weeks vacation left by then.

As to which area to stay in: I was there for 2 weeks last winter and I stayed in Porlamar not far from the Hilton. I would much rather be in the Playa El Agua area for the fantastic beach. There are several beach bars there too. I rented a scooter last year so I was only there during daylight hours but I heard there is some action at night. Playa Parquito is a nice beach but there didn't seem to be too much else around it. Since it sounds like you're going air only, why don't you just look around and figure it out when you're there.

Playa Moreno or Playa Agua or Playa Parguito? That would offer maximum nightlife and an abundance of chicas and beautiful beaches... Which area can ime and my amigos get the best of both worlds?

.....as I remember, the Hotel Kamarata is on Avenida Bolivar in the Costa Azul section of Porlamar it is probably no more than 5 minutes to the Hilton.

The area that these hotels are in - the primary beach is Playa Moreno , they are close and in the southeast corner of the island.

The most impressive beach on the island is Playa Agua and Playa Parguito which are in the northeast portion of the island about 40 kilometers away.

When you enter the Hotel Kamarata there is a huge sign (honest) hanging right behind the counter that reads "Hotel rooms are for the occupancy of registered guests ONLY - absoulutely no other guests are permitted in rooms. No exceptions."

Before I checked in I asked him about the house rules and specifically about the sign. He said "Don't worry about that sign, we just put it up to appease the local officials. It doesn't mean anything bring in whoever you want."

Every night I walked past the front desk (and the sign) with girl after girl and the desk clerk just smiled and waved me thru.

If the sign is still up maybe you can get a few pictures of some of the girls you bring back standing in front of it! (lol)

All three places are going to be much more expensive than getting a hotel and picking up girls on your own. Even on Margarita (more expensive than Caracas), you could get a girl for a full day for $200 or less. And with all-inclusive hotels on the island in the $50 range, you are definitely paying a premium for these erotic resorts. The convenience is nice, as is the company.

Did the Total Satisfaction thing earlier this summer and I'll say that the nice thing about places like these are that they really treat you like rock stars. The girls have a lot of incentive to have one of the clients pick them so they are very playful and flirtatious. In fact, playing "hard to get" had some incredible results.

Definitely convienient for those that don't speak spanish and therefore would have trouble hooking-up at a local place.
