    Venezuela

I'm trying to make it out to Venezuela from the US. I'm really not trying to go through the visa process though. I know there is no way around it. Can you give some tips on safety there. I might be able to blend in until I open my mouth.

    Inflation

I was with Smily in Isla Margarita in February. Chica's price have sky rocket in Isla Margarita compare to my visit last October.

At Villa del Sol, short time with a chica cost now 15000 to 20000 bolivars (12000 bvs last year). Smiley has summarized the scene in Villa del Sol. Robert, the owner, is a nice and funny guy. He do his best to help you to get the girls (ask him to call Rose Angelis, the ex Miss Margarita !). Many girls go for short time because they have family, kids and boyfriend waiting at home, but I would add that some girls can stay longer there. In February, there was 3/4 girls who stay at the posada and sleep there, they even paid for their room to Robert. After 3 days in Villa del Sol, we invited 3 of them to follow us in a duplex appartment in Porlamar and they agree to come with us (20000 bvs for each first day then 10000 bvs then 10000 bvs the next days).

A escort at Lips Agency cost now 11000 bvs for 60 min (5500 bvs last year).

At Harem club, the most expansive club in Polamar, 60 min with a chica including room cost now 25000 bvs (15000 bvs last year). This time I am disappointed with Harem club, girls are very pro and cold, absolutely no caliente. They are less good looking. The badmaid explain that all stunners went to Panama and Dominican Republica for better money.

At Morrison club, 60 min with a chica including room cost now 12000 bvs (8000 bvs last year). It's still friendly, some girls are really sexy and some absolutely not, but but it depends on the tastes of each. I found at Morrisson a very exotic girl, a metis Venezuelan-malaysian, a girl with a latina body and a asian face.

The Lips / Champagne club is permanently closed.

In Porlamar, we stayed at the Princesa Margarita hotel 50 meters next to the Harem club on the same pavement, we rented a duplex appartment with 2 bed room (1 room on each floor and a living room) for 14000 bvs (they charge 3000 bvs for visiting girl). This is good place to stay in Pormamar, closed to the clubs and safe on day time. There is a very good french restaurant, Le Jardin, accross the road and plenty of shops (including a sex shop where i buy sex toy to play with the girls) and mails around.

With the black market rate exchange, it still not expansive. As remember, 1 dollars = 850/900 bvs.

I changed 8000 BsF at Simadi rate (200) at the cambio next to the baggage claim. Passed customs easily. Guys that wanted to talk me taxi, moneychange I just brushed off. Outside the airport are some official airport taxis black SUV's signed as taxi, drivers are wearing blue shirts and a badge with foto. Ride to Chacao was 4000 BfS and took less then 1 hour.

Yes law enforcement is there, but don't expect them to protect tourists.

In my hotel the concierge changed dollars for 800,250 less than dollartoday rate, maybe not the best rate but easy and safe. In venezuela expect every simple thing to be difficult. I bought a movistar sim at Sambil, but to put money in it I had to go to a pharmacy that didn't sell Aspirine but coke altogether it took hours but surprise, no international calls allowed. I had to stay one more night to get a planeticket to PMV at a travel agency; cheap 5000 BfS but again hours although everything was arranged before by telephone / mail.

Again at CCS airport you are hasseled by guys wanting to help you changing money, passing the queue. Just be there early and you will not need them. I had about 150000 BsF in my bacpack because I was worried if I carry to much and they see it doing the x-ray I would be a mark. Although it was a national flight they took fingerprints etc. This to prevent known criminals to get to Isla Margarita. That said, don't think Isla Margarita is safe, right now there is a revolt in a prison" here with the prisoners having better weapons than the police.

Vds is not a hotel it is a posada guesthouse and Robert the owner invites some girls depending on the customers, buttt don't expect it to be the Medellin Mansion. While Haitek was there we had a pool party with some girls but this is as wild as it gets. When there are regular customers expect things to be a lot calmer. Sometimes he had girls staying at Vds but right now he just calls them. Usually they are students that just stay for one hour. Prices are rising I payed 20000 + 5000 taxi if you are lucky you find one that stays for the night or even longer, but usually they have family boyfriend or what so ever. Also expect a lot of changes sometimes just diffrent than the agreed girl shoes up or they want to change the time coming which is not Roberts fault. Just be flexible. They are young 18 22 cute semipros, most of this managed by 1 chica that takes a cut. I would not suggest to pick up girls in the street or random place for safety reasons. I wouldn't do in lets say Pattaya but here I would think your risk is much higher. Read the forum lot of posters think the same.

The place is safe and the staff is trustworthy although only Robert, Volker and Janet speak english, but hey you have to learn some spanish because the chicas do not speak any english. The rooms have a safe but most of them are small, just have a look at there webpage.

Playa el Agua is quiet don't expect a lot to go on. Eastern it will get busier, but that only means more people, not more to do. Usually Robert will offer to take you along on his outings, he is a very nice host but will not be here after eastern for a few month. Yes I changed with him and if he is not there Volker might take care of that I didn't change with him. At casa de cambio you will get Simadi rate only.

To sum it up I'm is not a mongers place as Venezuela in general, it is safer than Caracas you can do some trips to the islands relax and in between get some girls next door type most of them giving you the GFE. I went to the clubs in Porlamar once, but I was less than excited best looks in Harem LD champagne 1500 1 h 25000.
Thanks for your response. It was very insightful. Given the scarcity of good info on Venezuela, I am sure that others appreciate it too.

I'll keep my expectations in check. The next time I have a week off, I'll take 4 days of it in I'm, giving myself plenty of buffer time for cancellations and problems.

My planned route is through Barcelona. I found a direct flight from Miami to Barcelona. From there I can take a ferry to I'm.

Furthermore, , I was just cruising the Venezuela forum, and I happened on your posts about Puerto la Cruz.

Your reports make this area sound great. I know that there are direct flights from Miami to Barcelona Airport, with tickets purchasable on the website. I think you said that it is a roughly 30 minute trip from the airport to Puerto la Cruz. I was also reading my book here, and it seems that you can catch quick ferries from here to Margarita or Parque Mochima.

How do you think Puerto La Cruz compares to Isla Margarita?

The only downside I can see is that you have to utilize escorts. I don't speak spanish much. The setup at Villa del Sol sounds good to me.

If you are looking to exchange dollars via electronic transfer, the best and safest place that I know is Foro PTC, the "negocios" sub-forum has another sub-forum titled "Compra-Venta de theólares por dinero local", which handles such things. The place is heavily modded and has it's own reputation system for sellers and buyers, so with a little common sense the should be no problem doing business there. There are a handful of facebook groups which specialize on the exchange black market and usually pay a bit better, but the good ones are all hidden, and it can be difficult to get a referral.

Everyone in Venezuela who has Bolivars will change money for you. It is just that different people offer different exchange rates! Just go and ask the hotel concierge! Or talk to other locals staying in your hotel or go to a mall and ask!

The best rates I get is about 50 bolivars less than the current black market rate as published online. But sometimes, I have to accept up to 250 less than the black market rate as published depending on the situation and how desperate I am.
