Nothing for nothing but there have been some real effects from economic disruption from the State of Emergency (SOE) here in Republica Dominicana.

One example is the increase in prices of basic goods. A bag of limons used to be 169 DOP in November of 2019. Just bought the same bag last week for 365 DOP. Now before I get asked if I realize there is currently an international travel ban, I like all to you to understand that yes I realize that. But what does that have to do with the price of the bag of limons that buy each week? Well, absolutely nothing! Say it again! For those of us interested in that sort of thing (and I just happen to be) if you do the math that is a 116% increase. Now I did not do the math in my head. I used a percentage difference app on my phone (yes there is an app for that). But I understand the basic concepts even if you do not think I am very smart. I get along just fine. And I am OK with that.

Instead of spending time asking me idiotic questions, big ole titty lover better be thinking about what things are going to look like after the international restrictions are lifted. But not just him, all of us. You see in order to be an international monger (or player if you like non pros more than pros like I do) most of us are dependent upon scheduled airline service. Even if you roll on the high end, I doubt if any of you out there own your own private jets. I know I do not. And if I did you think I would be wasting my time posting here? I do like to fly first class on occasion. It is like going with a high end escort. You pay what you want to and value it according not by what anyone else thinks.

The availability and how we travel on airlines is going to permanently altered. Right now provisions that are being discussed might alter the ability for airlines to be profitable at the current fares we are used to. Even with the price of oil in the tank we may still be facing higher fares and service that is more limited than we are used to. Airlines are taking capacity out of the system and permanently grounding aircraft. I have read about at least two airlines that have ceased to operate. Others are in danger.

All the testing, cleaning, social distancing protections for the people serving us in airports and on the planes we fly on is going have to be paid for by somebody. You know who pays for all that shit? Every person who buys a ticket to fly someplace. It does not matter why you are getting on the plane. Our collective desire to travel someplace other than where we are is what pays for the entire airline infrastructure that is not subsidized by a government. There are multi-billion dollar bailouts for airlines in my country of origin going on right now. I am playing for that shit! Those motherfuckers tax me on my worldwide income. No matter where the fuck I am in the world!

COVID-19 is a motherfucker. Heard it has killed more people in my country of origin in a few month than war my they fought back in the day over many years. It is truly fucking up the program. But I will keep posting until it gets me!

I wouldn't be quick to call out Sweden. Lovely country with great people, but with less strict measures the cases and deaths are growing. The government is also reconsidering if they should put stricter guidelines in place too. Also, the total cases per million isn't that far behind the USA.

Oh my god, so hilarious! Sweden hasn't "reconsidered" anything! Just the other day I went to an AMP to fuck one of their new girls. After that I ate at a restaurant. At my company most work from home but the production is going on as usual. There's no crisis in Sweden. We have it way better than other countries who are stuck with ineffective methods which only amounts to kill the economy. VW increased their sale by 3% in March in Sweden.

Well, "draconian" doesn't mean scientific, intelligent or even effective. Locking the infected with uninfected up in a cruise ship, or a 2000 unit apartment building is "draconian". How'd that work out? Meanwhile, look at the well reasoned public health responses in S. Korea, Singapore, Sweden. What are the infection, hospitalization and death rates there? Essentially everyone on earth will get this virus in the next year or so -- it can not be "beaten", but only successfully lived with. The virus will only disappear from the community when a sufficient number of us have antibodies for it. Barring the development of a safe vaccine, that could take years. A thoughtful, scientific approach (to this particular virus, which seems to have a lesser or nil effect on the young) would be to allow it to infect the healthy, while isolating the old and weak. Once there was a herd immunity, the immunocompromised could be let out of isolation.

There are really only a few solutions at this point in time:

1. Herd Immunity, but as pointed out, the death rate for older segments of the population and for those with preexisting health conditions are dire. If this is really the answer, millions of those types of people are going to die.

2. Vaccine, but we're still 12+ months away from having one tested and available.

3. Protracted whack-a-mole, which means dealing with outbreaks when they happen and containing them so it doesn't spread to a wider area. Then hoping a vaccine comes along to end it once and for all.

She goes to her girlfriend's house and infects 2 out of the 3 members there. The husband goes to work and infects a bigger quantity. All those secondary infections. Some may be sick, some may carry the virus without knowing it, will interact with others. It's a ripple effect through the community. Some never develop symptoms, but remain contagious for 14 days. That's 2 whole weeks of just going about life not knowing how many people they will come into contact with.

I believe it's you who can't grasp the difference between current death rate and the actual death rate. People don't die right away after being confirmed. The death peak will always lag behind the confirmed cases peak. Your simple division of the confirmed cases over the mortality numbers at this current time is erroneous. No one calculates normalized death rates like that.

Countries that have implemented draconian measures have come out a lot better than others that did not. We see other countries who didn't take it seriously (Russia, Sweden) reconsidering their stance and others (Amsterdam) where the outbreak is going to get worse.

As for the USA, look for New York City to be joined by others. As NYC's infected rate flattens, other cities will become the new USA Epicenters.
