Know that I have been to Rio twice but in 2000 and 2001, I have never been to DR, yet anyways but I am glad that I went to Rio back in the day 17 years ago now if for anything else just to experience Rio and the beaches and the women and the culture. The DR is on my bucket list but it is much closer to USA and yes I read better bang for your buck.

Just like my visit two years ago to Cuba, it is an experience that I really enjoyed, same as 4 months ago visiting the Philippines and Angel City was always on my bucket list of to see places.

I write and share this as I enjoy Colombian Paisa women here in Medellin Colombia.

If it was me I would just go to Rio, I don't think you can go wrong.

I feel that going to Rio without being able to speak any Portuguese will be my downfall. What do you think? I think Brazil is more suited to mongers who can speak the language rather than somebody who can't speak a word. I forgot: if ever you go to Sosua at the main Sosua Beach (Playa Sosua), the best beach chairs are almost at the end of the beach. They are the only one to have RED chairs, with a thick and confortable mattress and structure is made of wood: you can't miss them. Not the plastic white and blue one that you find everywhere, on which you spend 10 minutes to lay down, because once you sit down on it, it folds. They have also very good and cheap food! Ask the restaurant for a chair and umbrella, and tell them you will eat there: you'll get a discount for the chair (or even free, I don't remember)

Well yes, I would think that would be obvious. In all my mongering, abroad and in Canada, I have always treated the woman I am with like a lady.

In that case, you have the right attitude, but there are others who expect GFE without giving BFE.

As others suggested, if you are with family, passing time in Sosua, it should give you an insight into what is available there, but a one time chance-meet hardly ever guarantees GFE, I dare say. I have been to BB as a visitor once to see the much vaunted beauty contest so cannot really comment about the women but perhaps your odds of finding a compliant person might be higher, there. Also, perhaps you should try both experiences to figure out for yourself what works for you. There is a cabana in Sosua and so if you can give your folks the slip, you might try once taking a chick to a cabana and see how it pans out.

Thanks. I am not planning on doing too much other than relaxing on the beach and finding company. I think that is one of the reasons that BB appealed to me.

My Spanish is very basic but taking a course now and practicing almost daily, so I should be able to have a basic conversation by the time I get there. And google translate can help as well.

Nightlife at Sosua begins at 4 pm on the beach, and 6 pm downtown. Common Guys, you know how it works there... Oh, and at Sosua, if CuriousFun likes beach there are two. Sosua Beach, with a nice curve, plenty of restaurants, bars, and animation. (although you can have a very good chair and umbrella by the end of the beach). And just next to it, Alicia beach, much less frequented. Very nice also. If you hate crowd, that's the place to be. I hope all these posts from different people and point of views will help you. Have a nice stay! I envy you!

At night, everything is within 200 meters on the same road: restaurants, bars, disco, and hundreds of girls, mainly FL.

BB: Well, there is no much to do there. Even the beach in front is ugly. Selection of ladies is poor (10 to 20) compared to Sosua (1000+). No haitianas. Nothing to do except sunbath around the pool and beer at the bar. No GFE. No atmosphere, or fake one. No 'fiesta' and hapiness feelings.

Well, to each his own. Charles Pooter has already addressed some of the errors in the report. Don't confuse personal opinion with information. You don't like BB. That's fine. That's your preference. But the information provided is inaccurate.

The beach about 5 minutes walk from the BB compound is very enjoyable. When I have been there, the sand was clean, though I didn't go to swim, so no idea about water quality. During the week, you may have it all to yourself. Secluded, quiet beach, used mostly by locals on the weekends. I've gone there, rented a lounger, bought a beer from a vendor, and sat in the shade under a palm, smoking a cigar, having a beer, and relaxing. I've gone there both alone and with a chica whose company I enjoy. If you want crowds of people, they are at Sosua. (But then, each person has their preference. I go to relax).

10 to 20 girls? There are close to ten in the bikini contest alone. More than that on each shift (morning and evening). For those interested, register for BB's online newsletter for pics of the girls. Of course there are more women in Sosua. A full spectrum from sweet young things to nasty, hard core types. From GFE to scam artists to drama queens. You get to find out which when you get back to your room. For that reason, for a first timer, BB is a better option.

If the poster is staying in / near Sosua for a family vacation, he should have ample opportunity to see for himself what the environment, nightlife, and available women are like.

This is indeed an exaggeration. At no time have I ever seen near 1000 chicks in Sosua. Definitely 10 to 20 at Black Beard's though.

Everything else you have said is spot on except for when you said white chicks. Please do not go to Sosua expecting to bag white chicks. In 11 years I have bagged 1 white chick. She was a German chick named Susanna and lived there. And I think that was my second time in Sosua.

To sum Black Beard's up, it is a motel in the middle of nowhere (I am well aware that it is in the Costambar neighborhood) with a few hookers on-site.

If relaxing on the beach is what you want then definitely stay in Sosua. I would not set foot on that beach at Costambar.
