Sundays are Dominican family travel days. They will use all the Metros and buses up to go to the beach and parks and rivers. Bad day to travel cheaply. I looked into it for you. You will have to take a cab to the Puerto Plata Metro station which is about 40 minutes from Sosua. It's close to Lifestyles Resort and all cabs know how to get there. There's a 7 am bus (highly recommend) and a 12:00 midday. They will stop at Santiago and then onto the capital, Santo Domingo. Hope this helps, bro!

I will be in Sosua in a few weeks and will need to go from Sosua to Santo Domiingo on a Sunday for Monday departure. It appears that there is no weekend buses on Metro Bus not sure bour Caribtours.

I landed 11 PM at SDQ two weeks ago and ordered an Uber, car showed up within 5 minutes. Took me to my hotel in the Colonial Zone, went through two roadblocks on the way. The police checked his ID, looked at me and let us pass through both. I used UBER throughout the week without issue.

Sosua can be walked in 10 minutes there is no need for Uber. Uber has never been implemented.

I was in Sosua in July and September and Uber essentially has disappeared there but in Santiago and STI, there are plenty during the regular hours. I have no idea about SDQ though as it is quite far from the city.

Hopefully, someone who has landed at that wee hour in SDQ would be able to chip in but given that all DR airports have such ungodly hours of arrival, I am certain there would be plenty of taxis.

I arrived 2:00 PM and caught my flight back before 7:00 PM, so I didn't get to experience traveling from, and to, SDQ during curfew hours.

The government give travel waivers to taxis so you should not have a problem.

Apparently you have already been to the DR during the lockdowns so presumably you already know that taxis and any driver will have a waiver, if one can show that there is a traveler, who is getting to the airport or going to the hotel. Your flight information should suffice. This is across the country, SDQ or STI or whatever. I have no SDQ experience but given that taxis run through the night carrying people with such waivers, I have every reason to believe SDQ is no exception.

Yes, Tempoecorto, I was there last month. I arrived 2:00 PM and caught my flight back before 7:00 PM, so I didn't get to experience traveling from, and to, SDQ during curfew hours. However, I do remember that one night after 7:00 PM during my last month's sojourn in Santo Domingo, I did do a test run to see if Uber rides were available but there was none. Except, perhaps that I was in the city and a request for Uber from the airport might be processed differently.

I have a flight on AA next month to the DR that arrives SDQ at 10:45 PM in the curfew hours that now begins at 7:00 PM. I will need a cab or Uber to take me to my hotel downtown, Santo Domingo. Are there cabs or Uber available at that time to pick me up from the airport? Will greatly appreciate information on this, from someone who has had experience from arriving SDQ in curfew hours, or someone who is familiar with the transportation set-up at the SDQ during curfew hours.

News changes everyday. But in general it seems that they will be scaling back the hours of curfew beginning at midnight. That would suit most everybody's needs. Haiti next door has it like this 12-5 am. Businesses are chirping, bro. I also have a trip to Hispaniola next month and I feel confident it will be better than it is now!

Thank you, EddieLima. I wish it were to be the case in the DR also, but I understand the curfew hours will be shortened by two hours beginning at 9:00 PM instead of 7:00 PM as is now.

It's nothing new. I went to the DR last month when this level 4 travel advisory existed already.
