This was Sunday. I didn't know whether Sunday was a religious holiday, a day of rest, or business as usual.

Thanks I appreciate it. I'm going to try to get a number to one of those places before I leave. Hopefully they will be able to give me a number before I get there so I can give it to the family. Also that way I can try to forward all calls to the number I'll be using there. I have Nextel and I'm sure that it can be done with other service providers but I think, once I have the number in hand I can forward all calls from my cell phone to the one they cut on without extra cost to who ever is calling from the states.

Maybe an idea, ask visitors from europe to bring there oldies to the DR (after sim-lock removal). They might not be sexy anymore, but they will still work.

There are quite some shops selling second hand phones overhere, it's a fassion item. And they give them away with new subscribtions, sometimes locked sometimes not. Unlocking will do approx 20usd overhere.
