One taxi driver I ran into in front of the main post in republic square a few days ago, told me wait in republic square and he will bring the hooker to republic square and from there we can go to my apartment. He even asked me if I had an apartment or was staying at a hotel, and he asked me if I was by myself which made me even more suspicious, so I asked him, where is the pic of this hooker on your phone, he said no pic, I will bring her to you, I said OK, then he said, get in for free, I will take you to her, I said no, bring her to republic square in 30 minutes, I have to see what she looks like, so I waited for 20 minutes near the Marriott hotel and I was watching the action in front of the main post office, he came back not with a hooker but 2 tall muscular guys!

I am always careful, it was around 11:30 pm on a Saturday night and bitter cold and I was carrying a knife with me (just in case, since Yerevan is very safe but when you are dealing with gangs or Armenian mafia it is advisable to have some protection). 15000 drams or 32 dollars is not the going rate for hooker right, it is around 25000 to 40000 drams for a street hooker or girls in SUV's driving around Naldbandyan street and asking people who look like tourists if they want to have a good time.

Also do not take cabs from taxi drivers at the airport who are waiting inside the arrival area and waiting for tourists to come out of the customs. Don't do it. Go to the departure area upstairs, go outside, wait for a taxi driver with a meter inside his taxi, and as he drops off a passenger, ask him if he would take you to small city center in Yerevan and ask him to use meter. It should only cost 2000 drams with the meter, which is around 4 1/2 dollars.
