For more detail, the number 6 tram line runs from Reumannplatz station at the end of U bahn 1 and Erkplatz station on the U bahn 3. Its very efficient. I got from Austria Center Vienna to GT in 30 minutes. On tram 6 you get off at the stop underneath the A23 expressway.

The U bahn stops at midnight. Taxi back to hotel near the Ring was 12 euro.

You can leave GT and return but they place a 4 hour limit on this. You need to lock your slippers and robe in your locker and tell the front desk person you are returning, ; you need to remember your locker number.
