So far, I've only been to more conventional places in Vienna, which are very much present in this forum and other websites. In almost all studios in Austria it is like that as well. Girls do not pay that much or nothing upfront but then give a part of what they make as a fee.

Unlike Germany most places in Austria are sexbar sort of establishments which are a different animal. Austrians, especially the kind that have money, also like to show it off. People here in Vienna really have no problem at all to pay drinks for the ladies.

But that is actually beside the point of your question. Factually, girls usually ask for drinks but there is no rule that you have to drink anything with the girl before going to the room.

In places like this, if clubs don't charge an entry fee for anyone (If that is in fact true for Maxim) that indicates that often the girls will give a cut of the room price to the Club club like rent or so. Or like Escort agencies do it. I would bet that this is how it is there as well.
