I'm just wrapping up my time in Vienna. I will say that the trip was a bit of a bummer because I was pickpocketed on the U-Bahn. I felt the guy do it and went running after him. But, he was familiar with the station and I wasn't and he got away. I did manage to get to Vienna's two most remote saunas: Fresh and Funpalast, fairly easy via public transportation. This was a pleasant surprise, because this means we have access to all four Vienna FKKs via public transportation. What more could a guy want? Many others have posted about how to get to GT and DD, so, I won't repeat their directions here.

First of all, bookmark this site: www.wienerlinien.at. This is the public transportation trip planner site in Vienna. For us Gringos, you can choose English. Enter your starting address and the destination address for the sauna you want to visit. For your efforts, you get multiple itineraries and a map with explicit directions.

CAUTION: Make sure you clearly understand when the last train or tram leave for the evening, especially either on a weekend or on a Friday night going into a weekend. Otherwise, it will be a really expensive taxi ride back to your hotel. I noted that a lot of buses and trams stop from about 12:30 am until 5:30-ish the next morning.

MORE ADVICE: When you get off the tram at your destination, make sure you know where the stop in the opposite direction is located. Sometimes, it's right across the street. Sometimes, it's not. Walk over there and write down the last tram or bus.

Here are the specifics. In each case, I left from the 1st District and picked Stephanplatz as my starting point.

Funpalast: Getting there was very easy. Take the U1 until it ends at Reumannplatz. Look for the 66A bus (usually lots of people are looking for it, too). Pick the one that says "Liesing S. " (Everyone else will be doing the same thing.) After about 15 minutes, get off at the "Sterngasse" stop. Cross the street and walk towards the McDonalds. Keep going in the same direction on Richard Strauss Strasse and Funpalast will be on your right.

Your return bus stop is across the main highway and about 200 m north of where you got off. It's at the end of a strip mall, which also contains a convenient Bank of Austria with ATM machines. Although my experience at Funpalast was average at best, getting there on public transportation was simple.

Fresh: This started out as more complicated because it involved a tram ride on a different company (I think), but, ultimately turned out to be very convenient. You need to catch the "Wiener Lokalbahnen" or "WLB" tram. They are tan & blue rather than red & white like most other Vienna trams and buses. I'm not sure if a day or weekly ticket included the WLB. To be safe, I bought a separate ticket for a whopping EUR 2. 20. This investment was worth it when compared to the fine if I screwed up and got caught.

I picked up the WLB at Kartnerstrasse not far from Maxim. You can also catch it from the U6 at Bahnhoff Meidling. From wherever you pick it up, you want to be heading in the direction of "Baden Josefsplatz" or simply "Baden. " Get off at Neu Erlaa and you are literally at the front door of Fresh. You can see the back of the club (with signs) as you pull into the station. It's literally less than 150 m to the club. If you need cash or burgers, walk south another traffic light. Turn right at the Billa grocery store and there is a bank and ATM on the opposite corner. Just north of Fresh are a couple of burger joints.

I didn't say that Maxim is a money saving place. In any event the cheapest rates in the centre, the only place open on Sunday and at the moment also during the day.

But if you feel you need a better deal you can appear before 10 pm and ask for the discount that they used to have if you go to the room between 9 pm and 10 pm. It was 170 or 180 for an hour but only if printed out from the website. If you ask for it you might get it anyways.

During the day they have a quicky rate but there are just a handful of girls there and I couldn't say which ones are working the day shift today for example.

I hope nobody is getting confused. Maxim is not an FKK Sauna or a Laufhaus or a Gangbang Party venue or a Sex Kino. It is a brothel with most of the girls dancing and give you company before you proceed to the room. Or not.

You can go cheaper but if you had set your eye on one of the girls that you see on the website than this is your place to go. Apart from that they are basically the only sex bar that regularly updates their girls and photos so it is rather clear what you are getting.

Personally I like to vary, I go everywhere in town and often outside of town too with only few exeptions but I know why I appreciate Maxim for what it is.

Last time I went to Goldentime I had a less than stellar experience, but this can happen. What I did find from a recent visit to Artemis in Berlin is that Oral without condom is mandatory and in fact that is true of almost all German FKKs, FKK Konstanz in Imperia is an exception to this rule.
