I was in Brussels sometime ago and I confess I was pleasantly surprised on what I found. I previously had the image of Brussels being boring and full of EU & NATO officials.

I certainly wouldn't classify it as a 'champagne bar'. You might be asked by a girl to buy her a drink, but that's up to you, and it won't be the typical overpriced 'ladydrink'. The place operates as a normal bar as well throughout the day, and is not open late as far as I know.

There is a similar cafe, BTW, over near Gare du Midi at 'Cafe le Coin' (175 rue Terre-Neuve. 1000 Bruxelles).

Sorry, I cannot find in the Brussels map the 5th Avenue. Please may you give us some more precise information?

Corner at the western end of Rue des Commercants / Koopliedenstraat and Place de l'Yser / Ijzerplein.

Marked on Googlemaps as 'Studio 5 ieme Avenue'. Hotel entrance on Rue des Commercants, and pub entrance on Place de l'Yser. You can see the place on streetview clearly from Place de l'Yser.

Aerschott, Linne, etc. All a bit drab, dingy and depressing, and with an air of the dangerous and downright sleazy (although let it be said I was never at any time of night or day personally hassled by anyone in these areas over the years apart from the usual request for a cigarette).

So there you have it. Brussels RLD is still there, but I would not recommend it for anything but a quick, impersonal in-and-out.

So I spent two wonderful days in the Brussels and I have to say the city is beautiful, but the RLD does seem to be in decline.

After much partying I finally got down to the RLD at about 4am. Starting off at the bottom of the street, I worked my way both checking out the girls and who were operating in and around them.
