No I don't live in Sofia, I just got to visit recently after an absence of a couple of years. I'm actually in Warsaw this weekend and will be trying to track down a lovely Siberian girl I met a few months back.

Velvet is open until about 5 am and in truth I didn't get the impression that they run out of girls. There seem to be about 20-25 on duty on any one night, most of them available for take out. THey do offer a private show but I haven't investigated what that involves as it is as expensive as a one hour take out. I've got there at around midnight and found plenty of choice.

As for the bars, my list in an earlier post is about all the info I can offer. As I said, it's not really my scene. Bars are for drinking in, not chasing pussy!!

Personally, I can't be bothered trying to chat up women in bars - way too much effort! But I suspect that there will be a mix of pros and non pros. I've never noticed any obvious working girls, but then as I say, I don't personally go for the bar scene for pussy - just to drink. But they are generally fairly busy all week and I'm sure if you relish the chase they're as good a venue as any.

Velvet is quite close to the city centre - about a 6 Lev ($3) cab ride. It's next door to Captain Cook's restaurant (or more properly underneath said restaurant) on Slaveikov Blvd. Far and away the best place I have ever been, but then I like 'em young, skinny and shaven! A hassle free experience!

Travelmen, as a general rule you will find that girls who frequent the popular bars, e.g. Flanagans at the Radisson, Murphy's, the Capitol Grill Bar at the Sheraton, will have some conversational skills in English - after all, the reason many of them are there is to hook up with a foreign guy who can afford to treat them a bit better than the average Bulgarian guy can and English is the most likely common denominator language. If you frequent clubs or discos I suspect that the likelihood of finding English speakers is rather less as they are probably out for a night with their mates rather than on the prowl for a foreign guy. Personally I'm way past the stage of trawling discos and much prefer to pay for my pleasure with minimum hassle. Hence my recommendation below for the Velvet Club. Good luck!

Trav - your experiences in Mockba were obviously better than mine. I have a hard time with Ruccki Yazik (no practice) I was remarking about not expecting Bulgarians to speak English (never tried Bulgaria so I can't tell you much) It's the concept of "the ugly American" to expect that "after all, everyone in the world speaks English, DON'T THEY?!?"

I have been to Russia and most girls there speak English.
I thought in Sofia at least most young people would speak some.

It seems Dracular seemed to meet many locals and I didn't think he spoke other languages.

Can you suggest good bars etc to go where more English speakers go?
Is Sofia nightlife busy during the week or just weekends?
What is the chance of gettting a non pro?

Guys, I think I've found Nirvana! Back in Sofia for the first time in ages and I checked out Velvet this evening. Words fail! If you like your girls slim to skinny, and shaven, then this is the place for you. Twenty five girls strutting their stuff on the catwalk one after another with three on display at any one time, and all bar two or three available for take out. The manager is a very helpful young lady who arranges for the lady of your choice to come and join you. And now for the good bit! Entry is 5 Lev (€2.50), a couple of beers, a cocoa cola, a coffee and a 'french champagne' for the girl of my choice came to 50 Lev (€25) (two thirds of which was the 'champagne!), and, best of all, the ladies are 100 Lev (€50) for a one hour take out, with the clock starting when you get to your hotel or apartment. Two hours is 200 Lev and from three to five hours is 500 Lev.
THe young lady that entertained me this evening was great fun giving a decent covered BJ, very tasty reverse oral on a smooth pussy [but no anal :-( ], and an reasonably enthusiastic screw. All in all, great value and as Arnie says, 'I'll be back'!

I was in Sofia for a short time and tried one of the massage salons provided at the web site www.diamant.hit.bg . (This site is only in Bulgarian/cyrillic letters and seems to be very slow outside Bulgaria). I was in „Massage salon No 1“ in Boulevard Makedonia No 6, ET. 2, Apartment 10 which is the nearest one to the center. Tel No. is (02) 952 49 18. It was Sunday, and is was open. You don`t see the location from outside, looks like a private flat. There was a girl who called herself Sunny. She spoke little English and told me the prices are 20 Lewa (= € 10) for a half hour and 30 Lewa (= € 15) for an hour, which I chose.
She was very tender, used much oil, teasing slowly (put off her fishnet pantyhose after about 60 minutes), kissed me all over (also french kissing) and did also a BBBJ after I had asked for it. Came into her mouth and on her face then.
After all, I was there for about 90 minutes and payed 50 Lewa (this is € 25). I would have been longer there but I had to rush to the airport.

Forget the Rodina strip bar. Changes again. New girls.
