Last week I had a visitor from England and he wanted to visit my local cabaret in Coral Bay (Macumba). He was very disappointed at the 4-5 Romanian girls present. I rarely go now for the same reason. I keep being told there are Ukrainian girls coming next week. Always next week.

I arranged for my Cypriot friend of 9 years and local taxi driver to take us to a few clubs in Pafos.

Banana Bar is closed and for sale but I noticed business was being done at their pansion on the left on the way into Pafos with about 6 cars in the car park. We gave this a miss.

We then visited Illusions where there were about 5 girls from Moldova & Ukraine and had an enjoyable hour before heading off to a new club for me; 'Love Boat' in Kato Pafos. Again 5 girls from Moldova & Ukraine but nothing to our liking so after 1 drink we were off again, this time to 'Patriot' where there were 2 Ukranian & 1 Moldova girl and all of reasonable quality and friendly.

Next to Stathmos where there were about 7-8 girls, half of which were good quality but some not so friendly, probably because they were already booked for the night and did not need to make any effort. My friend secured his companionship for the night after the usual argument over price when he reluctantly had to pay the tourist price of 200 euros despite protests from me and my Cypriot taxi driver friend.

It is hard to get a deal when clubs are closing down, or merely closed for the winter as were the 3 clubs in bar street, and when there are less and less girls. I am told that there are no new Artist visas for non-EU girls and the ones that were here when these stopped have applied to stay for up to 4 years but they are still returning home and very few will last 1 year.

Next we went to Lykavittos in Mouttalos where I was surprised that the 5-6 girls here were reasonably good but there were no customers whatsoever in the club. I was introduced to the owner as a good and regular spender and he asked for my advice on how to get more people to his club.

We had a bit of a party with the girls and drank, sang and danced for about 3 hours and the taxi driver went to collect my friend's girl from Stathmos (very beautiful, friendly and witty Ukrainian named Katya. Who I had "interviewed" and selected for my friend and there were no complaints. . . Well at least not from him).

My girl was a Ukrainian I had known before and whose contract had finished and therefore was without cost to me. That makes a change but doesn't happen too much.

After the party finished about 4, we went to a bouzouki bar and drank and danced before returning home at 06. 30.

So a good night and a late night. Can't do them too often at my age.

All clubs tried to get us to pay 200 euros, even though in my local club, myself and friends who live here pay 80 euros to the club. One club where I knew the manager from a previous club, offerred a discount to 160 euros but this is still twcie too much. All clubs also tried to get us to pay for our own drinks but our taxi driver made sure that did not happen.

Times are hard, especially without many tourists at this time of year and I suppose if they do not earn enough money they will also be closing the same as Aroma, Katigida, Caligula and Banana Bar but I wasn't taking it lying down on the night.

I hope it gets better but if there are no new girls, it will be the same Ukranian & Moldova girls exchanged between clubs around the island and they will get weary and less entertaining and eventually go home and we will be left with only Romanians and a few South Americans. Ah well "C'est la vie" that's the cabaret life.

This Midnight Pub located on a street parallel to Makarios Ave: This means it must be to the left of Makarios as one drives towards the Roundabout, correct? Remeber there used to be a club called Embassy (I think) ; is this pub you mention near there?

Did you actually sample the services of Romanian girls at Midnight Pub? If so, it would be quite instructive to learn:

-Info on prices?

-What time the girls can go out of the Pub?

-We assume you can meet a girl and take her out on the same night, correct?

No! It is on your right (towards the sea). I really don't know what are the prices. I went there two times I had some drinks with one of the Romanian girls and then I got her mobile number. One afternoon I called her and convinced her to meet me at Elysso apartments. When I went to the pub again this week all the girls were different! Mine was on vacation as they told me! The drinks for the girls are around 20 euros. I just got her a drink each time and we talked for almost 30 minutes, perhaps more.

I recommend a pub called Midnight Pub (I think). It is on the street parallel to Makarios Avenue (and south) in the vicinity of Sunflower hotel. Usually it has 5-6 Romanians of good quality. The atmosphere is quite nice.

I've heard of Caramella, but also heard most of the girls won't go out with customers. Perhaps this is wrong info I heard?

Can you tell us the name of another couple of good pubs in addition to Quatro? If you were to bring a good koumparo on a tour of these pubs, which would be the first two or three you would visit?

Lastly, you mention that normally one would need to invest a visit or two to the pubs to get to know the girls, etc, but in your opinion do you think it is possible to visit the pub for the first time and successfully walk out with a girl for the night? BTW: what time at night can these girls go out?

The Pubs have taken over the P4P game in Larnaca. I know at least 10 new pubs that have opened in the last year.

Most of the girls will go with customers, speak to them directly and ask them of the way it works. (don't be shy)

Obviously you will need to invest in drinks in order to get to know the girl (both yours and for her) and deal with her directly. Normally she will ask for 50 euro. It depends on you how high she will quote. Don't show you are loaded.

As most of them are Europeans they are free to come and go as they please, so you won't have to deal with the boss.

I used to go to Quatro, bought drinks for a 23 yo Romanian girl called Irena for a couple of nights. Then spent time texting and met for lunch and sex one afternoon. Gave her 50 euro. Total damage though was around 170 euro.

Caramella though is a bit of a rip-off. They pressurise you to buy drinks.

Invest in a couple of visits and you will be OK. Its as close to a GFE that you'll get.

I have been to Limassol a few times with work. I first visited the place back in 2001. The prices were reasonable (cypriot £) and you could visit numerous gentlemans clubs around and take a girl home for around £100 (british) for the night (3am to around 9am).

I noticed a difference in 2006 just before the conversion to the mogers nightmare (the euro) where it would cost over £120 (british) to take a lady home (same duration). The big difference came last year when I was there (2009) where it was on average at least £140 (british) to take a lady home.

I found the the clubs near the tourist area the best selection, the garson remembered me and gave me a discount (£130) I was so impressed and grateful (not).

I loitered around some back street bars between TFI Fridays on the front and the Holiday Inn. These are bottom of the market and the girls will do you a straight deal cash in hand.

My advice would be to visit the back street bars, pick up one of the 'seconds' (they are on average between 4 and 7) pay the going rate the first night and agree a rate for the second (with no club surcharge) she will be a lot more receptive and it will save you money.

I satyed in the Kanika Pantheon hotel near to TFI, well within walking distance to all action. The main action is towards the toursit area from TFI. Dont forget the little back streets, there are bargains to be had!

I wouldn't mind if you could share which bars on Makarious Ave you found Romanians. I'm currently living nearby and wouldn't mind taking a look.

If you use the Sunflower hotel as your Main Land Mark on Malarios Ave, then you should be able to locate most of the bars.

Across the Street opposite the hotel, there was one small bar where girls from Moldova Worked.

On the same side of the Hotel, to the left there was another bar.

The bars & Clubs are mainly located in the back streets behined & around Sunflower Hotel, Makarios ave.

The girls living apartments are located in this area as well.

I heard from a source on the ground, that a lot of girls from Moldova & ukraine are opting to work now in the bars a nd Clubs of Beirut, lebanon a ferry ride from Larnaca, or a short flight.

More money apparantly & more fun than nearly deserted Larnaca in the winter.

I agree that the scene in the South is NOT what it was, say, 2-3 years ago. But if you seek diligently you will find something worthwhile, I think. However, Excess and I visited Club La Mammounia about 5 weeks ago. There were some decent looking girls, but mannnn, their attitudes were rather extreme in the wrong direction. I mean, they were aloof at best and did not give one the impression that you would get very far in the room with them, at least not on the first night out. Probably you can get it by investing a lot of money. We were not in the mood to gamble.

I know from personal experince that in all the South clubs business is really, really slow for the girls. Many good ones will pack up and leave, unless things pick up.

You mention the bars off Makarios Ave. Very intriguing. Could you possibly give a few specific pub names?

The price quoted are completed inflated from the real rates. Obviously you are being given the "tourist rate." Ask the guy next time whether he would rather have you walk out of the club without spending any money, or is it better to maybe be told the proper local rates so you might buy? The true pices are 100-120E to the club; you settle separately with the girl (60-100 depending on the service given.) Aftenoons: 60E to club. He is overcharging you. You must counter these out-of-wack pricing with quoting the real prices. Then he will probably back down.

Btw: There is decent Russian/Ukraine/Moldova selection in clubs at L/ca and Paphos right now. I think the Square in Lemessos ("Hero's Sq.") maybe not the best opportunity in that town.
