Finally visited Prague again after the lockdown.

Strange, but very positive with almost no people around. Long time since I visited old town, because it's always so crowded.

The city is pretty much back to normal and sounds like they will loosen up even more after 15th.

Prices are down on everything. I got an offer from my hotel for 130 euro a night, but when I asked if that's their best offer, they lowered it to 90.

There you could see ahead of time what the price of the trip will cost before you dispatch. The only time you need to worry about cheating is flagging a taxi on the street of a touristy area. You will most likely get hosed for a few extra CZK if you don't know what you're doing. I always ask first before boarding.

There are three things to keep in mind.

Firstly, right from the very start of lockdown back in March there has been a weird cat and mouse game of the government implementing vaguely-worded policies and the public finding loopholes to get around them. For instance they said that places like cinemas or museums where people gather closely together couldn't have more than 100 people in a group. So the cinemas just sold 99 tickets to each movie.

Secondly, since May 25th pubs, restaurants have been allowed to open between six in the morning and eleven at night, and provide delivery service throughout the night. Other businesses like bookshops and massage parlours were also allowed to open. So Showpark can legitimately be open.

Thirdly, restrictions are being further lifted and those that remain in place are being more or less ignored. Technically you are supposed to wear a mask in a pub or restaurant any time you are not actually consuming food or drink. I can guarantee you that you could go round every restaurant in Prague and while you might find a handful of people putting on their masks to walk to the restroom, there ain't nobody sitting at a table lowering their mask to take a swig of beer or a bite of food then putting it back on again.

I went on Friday. I'm not usually the biggest fan of Showpark for various reasons but it does have its appeal in small doses. Inside it was so, so, quiet. There were two guys chatting at a table in the bar. Not wearing masks, because they are drinking. And I saw two other dudes cruising around checking out the girls. All Czech. Other than that there were no other customers. And this was a Friday night. Of course that meant that there was basically no competition for the girls' attention and I was able to do a circuit of the whole place then find the girl I liked best, who just happened to be the first one I saw, with no danger that someone else would have grabbed her.

After the session I ordered a drink at the bar, which was still open for half-an-hour, and ended up talking with a drunk Czech guy who told me he and his buddies had come from Brno for the weekend. Then the bar closed and I was torn between calling it a night or going for round two.
