Well, the communism ended almost twenty years ago and the market is totally open so the situation is now similar to West European countries. Some CEO´s of big corporates are making up to one million kc/month when some other people are only making 9 or 12 000 kc/month. What means you now find rich, upper/lower middle-class and poor people as well. Facing same problems like in Western Europe: increase of energy bills, food bills, health care system... Schools/Universities, healthcare, housing, energy (electricty,water,gas,petrol), food, transportation (tram/metro,train) are no more free or regulated by the state.

It´s true that most of Czechs coming from other Bohemian towns or from Moravia (as well as Slovaks) are usually not going to Prague for holidays but to work. Some areas in North Bohemia or Moravia have up to 20 % unemployement!

Like every summer you will even find some new & fresh faces: students who want to make some money and choose for privates and night clubs instead of regular (very low paid) student jobs. We already talked about it but a few examples of summer students jobs available today:

casher in a small supermarket: 30-50 kc/hour (1-2 Euros), waitress in a cafe: 50 kc/hour (2 Euros), distribution of flyers: 25 kc/hour (1 Euro), cook in a restaurant: 6000-8000 kc/month (240-320 Euros), night receptionist in a 3 stars hotel: 8000 kc/month (320 Euros)...
