I don't want to scary you guys, but it seems like the Swedish model (aka the sex purchase ban) is on the radar again in Germany. From what I read no new proposals on the prostitution will happen until a study about prostitution laws in Germany is completed by next year. Don't know what will happen. Hopefully nothing bad will happen. It's stupid that politicians and special interest groups are still trying to introduce the Swedish model despite plenty of evidence that it harms sex workers.

I asked as when I was in Helsinki with a girlfriend a while back, they required both our names and details. Maybe I could have rejected, but not sure and I didn't really have a reason to as my company was "legit" .

Good that this doesn't seem to be the case in Berlin.

I MISUNDERSTOOD THE QUESTION. SO. If you are checking in together, then they ask for BOTH passports but don't put the name on the reservation usually. They may ask. Sorry, I forgot about passport check in. I was thinking you were checking in alone and then "finding a girl". Again, put down two people on the reservation if you want to get extra towels, but just show up solo at the desk. I don't think I've ever been asked for person two when I'm alone at the desk. Damn, yes they will ask for both IDs in Germany, apologies. But they don't put the name on the form, at least they never put my GF's name on unless I ask.

But with regards to hotel booking and checkin, I wonder what's to expect in Berlin.

I assume that I'd book the room for 2 people. But will reception need me to give the lady's name and details at checkin? Or even, will they need to see her ID or something?

As these things can differ between countries, and I never booked in Berlin before, I'd greatly appreciate any advice on the above.

I've don't think I've ever been in a hotel that asked for the ladies name. They will offer to put her name on the reservation (in some hotels) if you "check in together" AND if you want her to get a replacement key at the front desk without you present. Otherwise the 1 or 2 in a room pertains mostly to the breakfast. Typical in Germany your reservation could cost you a bit more if you book a room for 2 if the breakfast is included. I've noticed this of late on some of the special "rates" at Hilton and Marriott. 170 euros in Berlin for 1, 190 e in Berlin for 2. If you are staying with her for the whole weekend, then sure, book for 2, if it's "I might bring someone to the room"; the only issue is if she dresses extravagently and draws attention to herself when going to the room, or if the hotel you pick has a cardkey elevator. Then you need to meet her in the lobby or around the corner and walk in together.

Even when I stay by myself the majority of hotels with disposable card keys ask if I want 1 or 2. And if someone were to EVER ask you, you simply say, she's arriving later on the train and I'll have her come down and register when she gets here.

As of yesterday, Germany has ended Covid restrictions until Aug 31. Does anyone know why it's only until Aug 31?

Couple coming to Germany in July.

IMO Berlin is a much more interesting city overall, but Frankfurt and the surrounding area provide a lot more opportunities for the kinds of fun discussed here. Only the one FKK in Berlin, but lots of other stuff if you look. If you're leaning more towards mongering, go to Frankfurt. If you're more about an interesting city, go to Berlin.
