So I rent a bike, 30 minute ride to Rodelheim, miss the train and have to wait another 30 minutes for the next one.

From Friedrichsdorf station the walk to FKK oase is about 45 minutes. You can try to get a taxi using Mytaxi, but you will quickly realize you are in the middle of fucking suburban nowhere. SO even a taxi might take 15-20 minutes just to arrive. 3 hours to get from Frankfurt central to FKK Oase via bike, train, and walk. 50 E for the taxi sure seemed like a good investment at some point.

Frankfurt Airport: The airport is huge. But it is fairly easy to get around, and without too much effort I was able to find the train to take me to Frankfurt Central Station. Note that the airport has two train stations, so make sure you try to find the one for regional Bahnhof, located at Terminal 1. If you arrive at another terminal you can hop on a free shuttle to the station. You can buy a ticket at the terminals or from the DB desk. Counter help speak English. You want to ask for tickets on the S8 or S9 train to Frankfurt central. Local trains and trams in Frankfurt, as in most of Europe, are on the honor system, so you do not have to show the ticket unless asked, but if you don't have it, you have to pay a fine on the spot.

If you don't feel like dealing with train tickets I suggest getting a Frankfurt Travel Card from the frankfurt tourism site https://www.frankfurt-tourismus.de/e...rankfurt-Card. A one day card is 10.50 E, a 2 day card is 15.50 E. You have to choose the time of your card activation when you purchase from the site, so if you are staying more than two days you can purchase additional cards. The german train / tram / subway system is excellent and a highly recommended way to get around. The train from the airport to Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof is a 20 minute ride. When you arrive you will be next to the RLD.

Other forms of transportation:

UBER. Frankfurt does not allow Uber. But they do have something called MyTaxi, and you can download the app from the Apple or Android store. It is the same premise as Uber, except, of course -- you will be riding in a taxi.

Bike Rental: There are a couple of forms of Bike Rental. One is called WIND (app store / android) and they have bright blue and yellow 3-speed bikes. The bikes are scattered throughout the city (unlike in the US where rental bikes are usually parked at specific stations). To find a bike, you download the app, set up your login and credit card info, and then in the app the map will tell you where the nearest bikes are. Simple. You scan the QR code on the bike when you find it, hit the UNLOCK button in the app, and off you go.

The other bike rental I noticed is called Call A Bike and is run by the same organization as the train, DB (Deutsche Bahn). Same basic premise as WIND, although I did find WIND to be easier to register and get on my way.

First Day.

My first day I arrived at the hotel around 11:00. I stayed at the Mercure right next to Frankfurt Central Station. Convenient to find the hotel, for sure. Google Maps often makes things seem like a longer walk than they really are. I had to take a nap, and woke around 2 pm. I grabbed a bite to eat and then decided to see what all of the fuss of the RLD is about.
