Shark did a miraculous job of defining brothel v FKK. A laufhaus is more of the former with a small difference. It's a self serve kind of place as opposed to a fast food restaurant. Think of a hotel where you walk down the hall and if the door is open, there is a girl sitting on a chair or on the bed and you ask her for your choices "if" you like her appearance, price service etc. The madam is hidden somewhere in the building, although you won't see her / him unless they are needed for security. Some of the laufhauses I have traversed will have the ladies showcasing some of their offerings (bureaus may have toys on them for example). Not sure if that is true elsewhere.

In some cities, there is a different form of Laufhaus. Laufhaus "light". There will be a bulletin board on the ground floor with the names and photos (and some level of info) of the ladies who rent the spaces and their room number. You walk to the floor and you ring a bell with the ladies name and that will bring the woman to the door if she is not busy. MANY but not all of these may have a website tied to the girl or tied to the address so you can prebook the girl. If you pick kaufmich or M-H you must check them against Lusthaus or one of the many others. You have as much luck picking a winner as you would in any other part of the world on an open unchecked ad site. That said, if you find a winner with INCALL (and not all of them offer that), you are fine.

Laufhauses are ideal in the sense you get what you see, but you have to accept that your experience may be average. It certainly won't be GFS. It's called Laufhaus for a reason. Want to just note that I had some good value propositions in Hamburg (perhaps not compared to the rest of Germany, but for Europe in general.) One was an incredibly hot.
