Yes, Reeperbahn is a tourist trap, big time. The pro's working there can identify a tourist a quick as you can identify a police car with lights and sirenes on.
Try http://www.torzurlust.com/ instead. Or, the local newspaper called MOPO which has a page full of phone numbers etc. It also helps to know your hotel phone number as the first two digits after 040 identify the part of town the hotel is in, then compare the phone numbers in MOPO and you can easily locate one close to you. Well this works for land phones and not mobiles (kind of logic, huh?)

I thought you should be aware of a common scam that occurs in Reeperbahn.

Along the main street there are a large number of strip show/live show/table dance clubs with touts outside trying to get you in with an offer of 5 euro entry with first drink included. Once in there will be an unconvincing strip show and you will be joined at your table by a couple of tarts looking for you to buy them a drink. DO NOT AGREE TO BUY A DRINK - it will cost you something like Euro 50-100. Failure to pay will result in things getting physical.

This actually happened to me on a trip here about 3 years ago. I was lured in by a very friendly large man outside a strip club. No Cover! How can I go wrong? I walked inside (can't remember the name of the place but it had a tropical theme with bananas), and sat down to watch what I thought would be an American-style strip show. I was only seated for about 2 minutes when a much older woman (house madam???) sat down right next to me and started to talk to me forcibly, yet also annoyingly. Her English was rather good, but that's the only positive thing I remember about her.

After a few minutes of this, she asked if I would buy her a drink. I said OK, hoping it would make her go away. Big mistake! As soon as I agreed, she clapped her hands above her head as a signal, and the waiter brought over a mini champagne bottle. This is when my scam alarm started to go off (I know--a little too late)!

As he dropped the bottle off (and a beer for me), I asked how much would this cost? All of a sudden, neither spoke any English! Eventually the waiter did produce a bill and give it to the madam. I finally convinced her to let me see it--it WAS mine, right? 150 Euros for her bottle (and 6 for my beer)! I can see why they didn't want me to have it! After a couple more minutes of arguing--justifiably I think (and I haven't been able to see the show yet!), I decided to stand up and walk out. Miraculously, their language skills returned immediately. Both of them (1 large older German woman, 1 very small Asian waiter) begin yelling at me how this was illegal, and they were going to call the police if I try to leave. The waiter actually put his hands on my chest and tried to push me back to my seat. I merely walked forward while he was doing this, and watched his feet and him slide backwards towards the bar.

When we reached the bar, I pointed to the phone and told him, "Go ahead and call the police. I am waiting." Imagine my surprise when nobody made a move toward the phone. Obviously the entire place was watching this happen, as I am sure it was better entertainment than the stage show (which I STILL haven't seen). The entire staff now is voicing their opinion of the legality of me leaving. I pulled a 10 e note out and left it on the bar (for my beer - I didn't think I would be receiving change) and headed for the exit, a curtained doorway.

The gorilla outside apparently knew what was happening, and stood outside the curtain with his back RIGHT up against it, preventing me leaving. And he was so friendly not 15 minutes earlier! This in addition to the madam and a bartender yelling at me, and the same waiter trying to pull me back inside. Enough was enough. I shook the waiter off, pushed HARD at the curtain--and the gorilla outside--and quickly walked out. Didn't even look behind me.

On the plus side, I got out of the Reeperban only spending 10 Euros!

Take a trip to Hannover if you have to get laid.

Was in Hamburg and paid a visit to Reeperbahn.

I found the main Reeperbahnstrasse to be a bit tacky but about halfway down there's an area where there are a lot of SWs hangin around. Cut down beyond there and you'll find a street with gates at both end and a sign that says no women and dogs! beyonf this point. This street is rather Amsterdam likw with a number of girls in windows. Didn't partake here (to tell the truth I felt a little intimidated) and headed back out to Reeperbahn and ran the gauntlet of pushy SWs.

Ended up in the previouly mentioned Point of Sex where for E50 I spent a pleasant 20-30 minutes with a cute young Croatian girl. CBJ was excellent and enthusiastic although the sex was rather spoiled by her over dramatic (and unconvincing) moaning.

Will be back in HAM in a few weeks time. Any other recommendations anyone?

2) Going to their apartments seems to be a good option too, but are they easy to find and easy to get to using public transport? Also, when you call the numbers, do they speak English?

Just finished a week in Hamburg. It is so cold.

Girls on the other hand are plentiful and you have a variety to choose from. Near Repperbahn Metro station, there is a street called Grosse Freuheit Strasse. Eros, Point of Sex and Thai Girls. These places are all small Hotel type looking buildings. You walk in go down the hallway and you will see the girls on bar stools or in their room.

I visited all three houses.. Eros 50 euros for 20-30 mins. There all kinds of girls, German, Polish. Point of Sex is a huge house 4 floors. There was a awsome Brazilian girl in room 108 (forgot her name) 50 euros for 30 mins you get it all. Missionary, Doggy, Massage and CBJ.
