I travel frequently, and I have found that there are some countries, usually less developed ones like Phillipines or DR, where you can get close to or even better than the official international exchange rate by changing cash at local exchange houses. In other countries, like Italy or France, the only way to get a good exchange rate is through the ATMs. Personally, I prefer to travel mostly with cash. Just go down that street you ll find at least a dozen of exchange offices, I advise you to look at the prices on the boards and even ask him how much you get for 100$ before you give him the money. Under no circumstance exchange on the road. BTW HUF is really down now!
