Just been in Buda - what a waste of time. Was out with a locla and went to 4 different bars - all the girls want is money and lots of it. Actually got told to leave cause I would not pay 50 euros for a ladies drink. Man this place sucks!

Where do you stay in Budapest if you are on budget?

I am one of the mongers who rather spend the money on the girls and not the hotels.
I like to have a clean plase to sleep, but it dont need to be snoby.

Anyone who knows places like that in BP?

Someone told me about a red light district in Budapest. A bit outside from the senter. What kind of redlight is this?

    Thanks!

    Budapest - The Scene

"Beware the bartender who will not buy you a drink"

I have some observations about this city after living here. I go out every night without fail.

    1. The people here are or seem to be really miserable MOST of the time, and I mean really unhappy. I suspect this is because they earn in the order of 400E a month whilst even a basic apartment costs that amount.

    2. The servers here really despise English people and tourists in general, which is funny because their whole industry is based on tourists. There are MANY exceptions to this view but I have tried mighty hard to learn Hungarian (with many hilarious fuck ups) and fit in. Reality. They do not want to let me in

    3. The women in many cases are pretty but in almost all cases for us "gaijin" to steal from the Japanese for foreigner, we have zero chance. I am a good looking guy and can charm the pants off any sheila but if a Bela Lugosi looking local guy talks to any broad I am with I have zero chance (I have money too).

    4. Stay away from Vaci Utca ALTOGETHER except for a cool pub near the market called "For Sale", beers are 500 FT for a huge "korso" mug of the excellent local stuff. Food there is good too. Walk 1 or 2 streets off Vaci utca and things improve exponentially.

    5. Expat places like Fat Mos, Negro, Iguana, Oscars, 4 Seasons Bar, Creol etc are NY type prices across the board, the little pub next door is often half the prices but will be less friendly (get the drift)

    6. Food. Here is good if YOU DO NOT WANT gourmet meals, it is hearty, fresh and abundant, the local market at the end of Vaci utca in the old train station has amazing produce and is SO CHEAP, BUT This place and its silly fusion type places is not Paris and never will be (for that matter I am yet to eat in any place here I would rate world class and I eat out twice a day, so do not think you are going to a Michlin starred place here.

    7. Hole in the wall food stops with little streudels and cakes are amazing value, you can pig out for lunch for 600FT (Euro 2. 50)

    8. The P4P scene is so hit and miss here, it is a pain, the strip clubs all fucking suck, they will just rip your face off, so much so I am looking at maybe getting some USA partners and opening a legit joint here for us gaijin. Many of the internet pros look nothing like their pics and even the guaranteed pics often have the girls fat ass and thighs paintbrushed

Without exception the best service comes from the likes of Jennifer Morante, pay a little extra say 25000 FT instead of the going 10k forint and you will get splendid service

    9. The best freebie scene is the abundance if local Scandi pussy that frequents Old Mans, Becketts and Fat Mos on weekends, especially the regular 2nd Friday party at Becketts (a pub I normally hate for its boring lack of character and high prices for Guiness and Kilkenny). I am an old bloke and even I have had a trieste with a Swedish honey.

    10. I have met and seen many 20-35 year old glamours here but the 40 yr old population are really horrendous and wtf happens when they get to 50+, they are all FUGLY biatches (unlike say NY where the best pussy is over 40)

    11. Recommened eateries. Gerloczy cafe is ok, Amstel River is excellent, food at Negro is expensive but good, Cafe Kor is excellent as is Lugash (near the Basillica), Fat Mos is good, Old Mans good, For Sale is cheap and voluminous, see www.caboodle. Hu as they do a great job for pubs and food etc.

    12. Accomodation. Apartments are the way to go if you are here for a week or more, check out www.budapest-quality-apartments.com. I got my place thru them and it is the bomb

    13. Men here for the most part are VERY ALPHA, I have seen or almost been involved in several brawls for doing nothing but standing my ground, beware of the big bruisers.

There are many contradictions to what I have written and I have made many nice Hungarian friends/acquaintenances but without exception they have been people who I tip well for service or see frequently in a professional setting.

The English, Aussie, KIWI, German, Scandi and other men I have met here all tell me PRAGUE is much better for pussy in all of its forms

    Party on Wayne

    Prices/Translation/SIM Card and Cell Phones

    Hi,

Not really an expert on the scene. Have been building on many of the fine posts over the last few months in the Budapest forum.

    PRICES:

I am usually here with family, so it is hard for me to play here, but I have made some calls this trip. I have been getting quoted 15000 forint for the hour for a basic experience.

    On a site like http://www.beszamolok.hu/

select LANYOK at the top and you will see a selection called UJ LANYOK which shows all the girls or you can select by age. Other selections include CSOK (Kisses) and Popot (anal)

Once you select a girl, you will be presented with what she does. ALAP next to an entry means this is included while Igen (Yes) means she does it, but you may need to negotiate and EXTRA means that she will do it, but there will probably be an extra charge.

    TRANSLATION:

I know very little Hungarian. I have found this site that will translate Hungarian into English. It doesn't do a great job, but does give you an idea.

    http://www.translation-guide.com/fre...ian&to=English

    SIM CARDS/CELL PHONES:

I have seen other posters say that they could not buy a sim card. I was able to buy one in a small in the city center off one of the boulevards in December. This place actually sold me a phone and airtime for 70,000 forints, but the card alone was available as well. I didn't need to register. This was a small private shop that sold cell phones, basically a small kiosk, so this place may bend rules that a T-Mobile shop would not.

    Prices

    Hi all,

I am just wondering what the going price for service in Hungary is ?

I don't want to pay over the odds and drive the prices up for local mongerers and don't want to get ripped off.

A little info goes a long way and helps prevent scams and bad experiences.

P.S. Any scams I should look out for ?

    Thanks

    Hire cars

    Hire cars

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you wish to drive into CZ, SK, PL, HU etc, inform the hire car company when you make the reservation. If you make the reservation over the phone specifically inform them of your business plan to go east. Over the web, you are able to put those requests in the comments.

Importantly when you pick up the car ensure its not german.

It used to be tougher as only Europcar and Hertz would permit you to drive there under their insurance policies. Since the EU accesion of the suggested countries all providers allow you to drive there - including AVIS, Sixt, Budget, etc.

Indeed all makes of German cars are banned from cross border travel from hire car firms.

Basically, German car parts are popular in Central Europe - so the suggestion is when you park the car either the whole car, or parts from the car, will be missing.

I've driven across the border many times. A couple of times I was upgraded to Jaguar's, Volvo SUV's, etc - I originally asked the hire car rep if this was permissable to drive such fancy cars thru east europe - the Austrian guy chuckled - "well its funny you know, they will all look at the Jaguar, smile and think its a wonderful car, smile even more and be happy that they saw such a rare beautiful vehicle - and then walk away - they have no need for a jaguar or parts from a car with with such status - as they are rare in the region.

Whereas a german car, they will take the mirrors, wheels, etc for their own cars or sell them down the market.

Typically the hire car companies will supply you with a Ford, GM, Renault, etc as a charriot to the east.

    I hope this clarifies matters.

    50 not out

    Smthggood,

Just wonder, you seem about 20-25? Whats a guy your age doing paying for sex? Don't write off anybody in their fifties. They can fuck for fun, and usually the girls enjoy an older guy. They sometimes get sick of young studs pounding away for an hour. An older guy has a bit of wisdom and can pleausure a girl. I wouldn't have bothered my arse paying for sex past 40. I was still pulling girls normally. I pay for it now because I haven't got the pulling power, and I love doing young girls. You need to re think what your doing and why?

Dosug and others: Why is the telephone preferred to email?

I will be making my first trip to Eastern Europe this summer. This site has been very useful, and it appears that a fellow can find a good time in private apartments in Budapest. I have reviewed several of the sites recommended by Dosug. What I don't understand is the lack of email addresses to facilitate appointments. The girls have phone numbers, but email provides better communication when there are language barriers. Those sites that do have email tend to request a relatively large fee.

Is there a way to plan out a trip for maximum pleasure, all in advance, all with some documentation by email, and all at minimum rates?

In exchange for information, I will be happy to write reports after my trip. That's the way it works (well) in other countries.

    Thanks

I didn't mean to offend anybody by refering to age. I was wrong to use the wording that I did. I am sorry that it came out that way, since that was not my point of my post. My apologies.

The message that I meant to convey...

Thru my experiences, the girls in CZ are much more accomidating than the girls that I had in HU or RO. In CZ, you can fuck as much as you want in one hour.

In HU, I usually got off and got out, as most the girls desire. One hour could mean 10 minutes or 60 minutes, but after you finished the first pop, the girls say that time is up. I had some exceptions where girls would want to stay and talk for the rest of the time or even longer than the hour.

In the clubs in CZ, if you pay for 1/2 hour it is usually a one shot deal, but if you pay for 3/4 or 1 hour, you get as much as you like.

What I referenced by age, was not my real intention. What i really meant was that some guys go to a girl just to get off once, regardless of the guy's age.

If I am going to pay to fuck a beautiful girl, i don't want her to end things after my first pop. I don't want to sit and talk for the remaining time or be told that our time together is over. If I pay for an hour, i want an hour. I want sex for the whole hour usually.

My post was not about age but about quality of service. I have had good and bad service in CZ, HU, and RO. I still think service was best in CZ, but I will let you know more when I try them all again, very soon.

    Dear M. Smthggood

You give a lot of useful info.

But I have to reply on :’In Budapest and Bucharest it was usualy one shot and it is off. that Tay be ok if you are 50 but if you are in your 20's it feels lke a ripoff.’

Believe me, things get better when you grow older.
One can last for 1 hour whilst a youngster needs to do it in 2 times. LOL

As you will get older yourself ... you’d better believe me :-))

    What do you guys think?

The girls in czech usually let msog, most but not all the time means 1 hour means all that you can come in one hour.

In Budapest and Bucharest it was usualy one shot and it is off. that Tay be ok if you are 50 but if you are in your 20's it feels lke a ripoff.

    Anybody have any insights?

Is it bc the competetion in CZ is so hight?

On another topic, the average pirce on the net in Bucharest is higher than BP, especially the net agencies.

I know that it is legal in BP but not Buch?

The girls and agencies are getting greedy?

    Tickets, tickets, tickets.

    First the airport:

When I lived in BP, the best way to get to the airport or back was a minibus called Airport Minibus. It was awhile ago but they only charges 1500HUF campared to taxi's which charge between 5000-10000 HUF. The Airport minibust will pick you up or drop you off anywhere. definitely the best suggestion. You don't have to read or speak hungarian. They will take you anywhere in BP for the same price, whether a youth hostel or 5 star hotel.

If you are going to be in BP for awhile you can but a 3 day, 7 day or 1 month universal transportation pass.

When I was a student there i could get a pass for less than 5 USD that allowed me unlimited access on the metro, busz, trollybusz, and orange trams. it probable won't cost more than 10 to 15 for others.

The ticket patrollers are very sneaky. they usually are plainclothesed. The they put a red sign on their arm, and start checking tickes once the vehicile is moving.

When I was last in BP a one way metro ticket cost abt 0.25USD, but if you didn't put it in the machine, to stamp it, you get a 20 USD fine, that you have to pay on the spot.

One time both a russian guy and I got stopped. He ran of into a metro car, and I (stupid me) stayed. I got into a 20 minute argument with the ticket collector, via a nice person willing to translate. I probably could have run into a metro car but i thought I was right. the 70 HUF metro ticket I show her, I thought should be valid. I thought that their machines were corrupted, time wise. After 20 minutes of arguing an telling her to take me to the police station. Then a police officer came up and showed me his badge, but he didn't speak much english. The nice guy translating said, maybe you have another ticket, in another pocket.

    I thought to myself hmm?

I found it show it to them, and she cursed me and let me go.

My opinion in BP (not sure about Prague) get a several day univeral pass. You may not use it all but you won't have to worry abt it every time you get on a tram, bus, or metro.

    Peace

    Hello,

Just some extra information on what World Traveller just posted. In Prague, they check the tickets of locals as well. A Czech friend of mine just got caught and had to pay the fine (I forget how much it was, but she was definitely complaining that it was a lot).

Also, taking the bus from the airport is indeed the cheapest way to go. There is a cheaper ticket that you must also buy for your suitcase, but I cannot remember the price. You can just buy a second normal ticket since they are so cheap anyway.

Alternatively, you can take the Cedaz shuttle to the metro for 90 CZK I believe, or pay about 360 CZK for them to take you directly to your hotel.

This is also posted in the Czech Republic section..

For those of you budget travelers like me who rely on public transportation to get by in a new city, here are some words of (serious) advice: punch/insert your ticket as soon as you walk on.

There could be serious penalty if you¡¯re caught with no valid ticket. It does not matter if you have ticket or not but was it registered or not. Most time the penalty is in cash and right there. (They may accept Credit Card by now!). The controllers pick on tourists only. So, don¡¯t be fooled if you don¡¯t see anybody else around you punching like you did. I always wondered why such double standards.

I cannot emphasis enough on how important it is to have heads up on this punching/inserting your ticket. Although, I have never experienced it myself but I have seen others who were approached and I saw how they were treated, didn¡¯t like it. Keep in mind that the language barrier will make things worse. You have to pay up. That¡¯s why I believe even one victim is too many.

Usually, tickets can be used for different modes: bus, tram, and metro (in Prague and Budapest). The tickets are very reasonable so stack up. Each ticket is good for one time, one segment only. In Prague and Budapest, you could use the same ticket on certain routes but it could easily become a headache to keep up with it. Better not to deal with it. Like I said, tickets are very reasonable.

No matter what time of day, how empty, or how crowded, the first thing you need to do is to punch in or insert your ticket. If it is over crowded and you even barely get in, the first thing to do is to find your way to the nearest box and register your ticket.

The best thing to do is to have a single ticket ready in your hand, register it, and hold it in your hand (or know where it is) and dispose of it as soon as you get off. The worst thing is to be stopped and pull out a bunch of voided tickets trying to figure out which one is for current use.

In all Eastern Bloc capital city airports: Warsaw, Prague, Budapest, Bucharest, and Sophia, you could take a bus to downtown (or near) for less than one or two dollars. In Prague and Budapest you could even, get more frequent bus services to the first segment of the underground metro. For every piece of luggage, you are carrying with you, punch/insert a ticket. Don¡¯t worry about how big or small: one ticket per piece of luggage per segment! If you¡¯re being accompanied with any local ¡®beauty¡¯, you use one ticket for her as well. Tickets are reasonable. Buy few tickets at a time. I always keep at least two tickets where I could not easily reach for emergency. Meaning late at night when you cannot find an open kiosk to buy ticket. In Warsaw, Sophia, and Bucharest, the services shut down around 10 or 10:30 pm. don¡¯t get caught off guard.

I know a lot of us have already figured these out but if there is only one hobbyist who could benefit from this information, I thought it would be worth the time to write it. Lets review it again together: have bunch of (new) tickets at all time, punch/insert as you walk on, hold it (the ticket), and dispose of it as soon as walk off, okay. Happy hunting.
