Most EU states remain on the green list, which means no limitations, but five of them (UK, Portugal, Sweden, Romania and Bulgaria) along with some other countries (Norwax, Russia, Serbia, USA, Japan and China) will get on the yellow list, meaning 2 weeks of compilsory quarantine after entering Hungary. Eight further European (but not EU) countries from the Balkan and the Eastern regions, plus the rest of the world will get on the red list, which means a ban in general. Lists will be revised frequently, so the qualification of certain countries may change in short time, according to the Covid situation. (In case of Serbia, train traffic is also stopped with immediate effect, showing that even the yellow list means concrete restrictions).

As far as the full three lists are concerned, there are a few odd items, like Canada on the red list while the US on the yellow one, or that Serbia should be clearly red at this moment (but it would be a loss of face to put them directly there after playing down any problem just a few days ago). Anyway, it's a clear message of tightening, while individual states can be changed any time.

At first sight, the pandemic situation in Hungary is still one of the best in Europe. The official number of daily new infections is incomparably low to US data for example, even if we take the numbers per one million people. And they look much better compared to other countries in the region as well. But the number of tests is extremely low, too, and even moderate experts say that the real numbers should be 10-20 times higher at least. (They also suggest that in this phase more young people may get infected, due to the opening, and among them more might remain undetected, but even they can transmit the virus) And there is a collateral risk: the public will adjust their precaution measures and attitude to the official numbers and the general mood that the pandemic is over.

So I do not want to suggest at all that the situation would be explicitly bad in Hungary. I'm living here and I don't feel any special danger in my everyday life, if I compare it to most of the other countries in the region or Europe. But there is certainly an upside risk both for the actual numbers and for the predictions.
