I spent a few hours in Dublin's red light district and I can confirm, yes, it's crap.

I was there for about four hours on a recent Saturday night, walking around Fitzwilliam Square until I got dizzy. I tried all the streets named in an earlier posting, wouldn't have found it otherwise, so ta, but this is the only place where I found ladies.

I immediately saw a girl who was in her early twenties, a bit skanky and none too pretty. I wasn't that desperate so I gave her a miss. I later saw a girl who was younger and prettier, but she seemed to be falling asleep while standing up, so I thought I'd give her a wide berth too. Dodgy dodgy. I later saw a third lady, who said she normally only worked by 'phone but she'd lost her mobile. She was the busty type, which may be many guys' idea of perfection, but not mine. She asked for EUR300. I told her you could marry a girl in London for that sort of money so she dropped the price to EUR200. She wouldn't take me to her flat and I could have got her into my hotel 'cos she looked respectable, but for that amount of money I was after a lady who was closer to my ideal.

I saw the skanky girl again and by now I *was* that desperate, but she said she didn't have a flat, and she would have drawn attention at the hotel if I'd taken her there and I didn't fancy doing it standing up - where's your sense of occasion, dammit! - so I walked on.

The only other lady I saw was the one who was falling asleep but she seemed to have woken up a bit and I had, y'know, needs, so I approached her. She was in her early twenties and quite pretty, but wore no make-up and seemed a bit down at heel. I'd seen her talking to two Gardai for ages earlier; I asked if they were hassling her and she said they only wanted to know if guys had been bothering her. Basedon this one evening I don't believe police attention is something either buyers or sellers of sexual services have to worry about in Dublin. Anyway, she had a flat and asked for EUR200 for an hour which would include anal (which she volunteered). We spent EUR5 on a taxi, and when we got to her front door she asked for the money in advance whereupon I did a runner. She shouted after me that she wanted the taxi fare and her last words were, "That's not fair" which I feel bad about in retrospect, but honest girls don't ask for the money up front so it's her own fault really.

At one point I passed a strip joint on Leeson Street (Angel or Angels or similar) and I thought I'd go in to allow time for some girls to turn up, but they wouldn't let me in because Our Hero was wearing tracksuit bottoms and trainers in violation of the dress code. So I wasn't allowed into a strip joint because I'm too downmarket. Hmm.

So at the end of this rather long posting no sex has taken place after much pissing about, which I think is an accurate metaphor for the Dublin street scene.

As a serious Dublin monger who has travelled to Thailand, China, Amsterdam, Brazil, etc. Dublin is one of the worst places in the world for paid sex.

Outrageous prices for poor quality. The Lapdance clubs are a joke, total rip off. Some sad bastards pay it. Unfortunately the reports from Dublin are all true. I've been here for more than a year, and there is NO action.

The lapdance clubs are an obscene ripoff, but they're not as bad as the ladies on the street. Reports about the Canal, Beggars Bush and the Bridges around there are true -- there are girls.
But the girls do much better at picking your pocket than at boosting your rocket.

I've only had one half-assed experience that was at all good, and it wasn't that good. The girl was only tolerable, not even cute.

Your best bet in Dublin: go to Temple Bar and find some drunk girls. This is probably the only place in the world where you can walk up to 10 women, ask each if they want to go home with you (before you've even introduced yourself) and you'll probably get two to say yes. Maybe even together!

If you're in Dublin, look for a travel agent, fly to Amsterdam...

Unfortunately, I have to agree with Merlin. Dublin as a punting city is crap! Your casual walkup MP is non-existant, there are a few escort agencies that advertise on internet sites dedicated for the Irish sex industry. These sites claim to be rivals but take it with a pinch of salt, as they are run by 2 or 3 cartels and most of the agencies / indys use different names and numbers, along with different price structures. Like most thing in Dublin, it is not cheap, a half hour service usually is somewhere between €130 - €180, while an hour service starts at €200/€250 and up.

The general rule of thumb standard of service here is of a poor quality and vfm is limited - a usual service consists of a quick back rub (talc/oil), limp wrist effort to stimulate, on with cover (ready or not!), a couple of sucks and climb on for mechanical ride to the finish. I don't mean to paint all the service providers with the same brush, there are a few exceptions to this rule. However, finding these exceptions can be an expensive process and keeping track of some of these girls can be difficult as they tend to move around/change names or occasionally visit from the UK.

The street scene (not my thing), is considered full of scam artists and relatively dangerous as the garda (irish police) activity is fairly hot in these areas - namely along the canal from Leeson St. bridge down past Baggot St. bridge, Fitzwilliam Sq. and Benburd St. are the usual haunts.

My advise if looking for decent punting grounds don't come to Dublin, stick to the guinness and try your luck with the non-pro local and tourist girls in and around Temple Bar - if nothing else you'll have great crac (nothing to do with drugs) and drink.
