I have never been stopped by Customs coming through - same as any other country in Europe. But I do look like an honest upstanding citizen (if only they knew the real truth!)

You don't have to worry about anything with the Viagra. As for the weed, they are really seriously anti-drugs here. I'm not sure how hot they are on weed, but if they find anything stronger then I know you're in serious trouble.

With regards to hotels, I usually recommend TripAdvisor to clients as they rate hotels according to real guest feedback as opposed to some paid reviewers. I generally agree with their conclusions.

Two hotels to definitely avoid are Hotel Albert and Konventa Seta. If you take a read of the current page or two on the Riga board, you will find out why!

Hotel Latvija brings on security at 2300. After then, it's tough to get girls in.

If you can meet giirls in the lobby and escort them up to your room, there is very rarely a problem. If this isn't going to be possible (because you have colleagues or friends staying in the same hotel, for example) some of the other hotels have security late at night as well.
