Happy me who moved here already in nineties and had possibility to experience this great city at its best. Hopefully those great masses will soon find another city and we will get our beautiful old town back with reasonable prices.

Yes, it's a waste of time now. Friends of mine who live there told me that the bars and restaurants put their prices up by 10-20% just before summer started for no other reason than to fleece tourists.

The agencies will tell you anything to book a girl. The services they promise come as a surprise to the girl when she arrives. Of the 45 LV they charge per hour, the girl gets 10, and may have to pay for a taxi out of that if the agency is bad. The girl will invariably give a 10Lv performance. The girls are spoilt, and I won't be mongering there any more. I'll still go back to see friends, but that's it.

Well, it's time to write!!

I've come back from my trip in Latvia. Thanks to your suggestion (expecially from Diceman - thanks!) and thanks to major force causes, I did not book an apointment before leaving my Country.

Landed in Riga in the first morning, after a long long working day, finally I arrived at my hotel at 01:30 in the night.

First thought was to have a shower, to prepare my luggage for the early morning departure (5:00) and relax a little bit.. but.. "I'm in Riga, c'mon, would you want to sleep??"

So, I went to the reception desk.. there was a young girl, who didn't gave me a good feeling in asking something.. the bar was closed (at my arrival, there were 3/4 girls clearly waiting for somone like me).. so I went directly to the Security Guy.

Asked for help, he promised to send a girl in my room in the next 15 minutes.. asked for the price, he started with 100 Euro, but when I showed him I knew Riga prices (thanks again, folks!!), he cut the prices down to 50 euros.

I went upstairs, and then after 20 minutes, a girl call me at the phone asking to open the door. She was 1.70 tall, slim, blond with, of course, blue eyes, medium hair with a 2nd breast measure and a nice peircing on the tongue. After a quick shower and a sigarette, we start to play. Covered (sigh!) BJ (rated 8 - maybe the peircing made it good??), no 69, followed by some foot job (I love it - 9), and then straight sex in different positions (6).. No A, no CIF or COB..

In the complex, she was 7 by apperance, 6 by services.. She did not let me take some photos (rated 2 for the answer!!), but at the end I can rate my meeting with a final 6.

Next trip to Riga in the next month.. I'll keep you informed if I'll find something interesting

Unfortuntely, I booked after reading the reports on this thread. Had I bothered to read the invaulable information on here. No way would I have booked.

Flew from Stanstead on Ryanair Fri 6 am. What the fcuk? Arrived in Riga Friday morning and got to the Hotel De-Roma a 5 star hotel in the centre of Old Town. The hotel was probably the highlight of the whole trip. Friday night they held a Lingerie Fashion Show. But the models were strictly LOOK BUT DON'T TOUCH. Problem was that was the majority of Riga

Strip joints were 5/10 Lats (which is virtually £5/10) to just go in. You'll get a 3 free drinks for that, which means 1 beer, 1 half, and the 3rd. You can whistle for if you haven't bought your lady a £11 Tia maria and coke!

Place was a complete scam.

The boys wanted to hit an RnB club, to have a boogie. Got to the door, and the doorman goes you sure. 65% Russian Mafia.

Managed to find a cabbie, after spending circa £30 to find a private flat. 4 Guys, 3 women to choose from. 5/10's at best. £50 for an hour.

Sat didn't even get a shag. Called in escorts via Conciarge, but unless we took both, the one that we did choose didn; t want to know. Cost would've been circa £80-£100.

What a waste of a trip and visa from the Mrs.

Next time def sticking to what we know, Krakow, Tallin, Brataslavia, etc.

the theme over the last 18 months on this board has been very much that of increased charges and less good service; the natural product of a destination getting popular and then spoilt!

i have just returned and, reluctantly, have to agree. when i was there three years ago i had several telephone numbers of sort of agencies who would bring round three girls to choose from and then the rate was 15 lats for an hour - girls, usually, relatively amateur which has its good and bad side!

sods law took over and i lost the numbers! but expect that many of these operations have been replaced by the traditional glossy escort agencies advertising in the 'riga this week' type of publications.

evidently one can scour the russian press but i did not have time to do this between meetings but sensible use of the agencies (as everywhere) can produce a sort of compromise.

my formula, on this occasion (slightly governed by meetings and business associates!), was to take a girl for one hour, see what she was like and then decide on an extended evening event.

the first go was a disaster - stunning and smart but 'no touchee' type approach - 40 lats + 5 for 'taxi' sort of wasted but she was very pretty!

next agency much more receptive on phone and the same formula, girl accompanied, as usual, by a gorilla!

this time unbelievably cute and gfe in every way. now comes the deal: i did not want an all night event - bored with it after 1 a.m. and need the sleep to be half intelligent the next day.

got the girl to call the agency and say i wanted 4 hours from 8 pm. (first 'intro-offer' was a nooner!) - price starts to slide - take over the phone and carry on conversation with the madame or mamoushka or whatever. make 6 hour noises etc. and they cannot resist a decent booking like this. final deal 110 lats for 4 hours. ok - this is all money but no hassel and you get what you know without time wasting. as the temperature was -15c and wind speed 25 mph the attraction of doing the clubs in the hope of finding something else was never on the cards. i am happy to give the agency tel# but it is all luck of the draw. this was a good one - as we all know: you win some and lose some.

summary: on this occasion equivalent of 110 gbps for 4 hours and a quality, throughout, 9. in london you would be pushed for 45 minutes and then, probably, with an unknown quantity! but we are not in london and one could ask: 'why be in london?' with flight rates from london there is still great value for money, although the starting price is a bit less favourable!

in a city like riga with this weather, time and money can vanish as one has to be indoors! - some of the bars are quite sophisticated and a drink or two (forget the lady-drink) will soon help empty the pocket - this time i took the easy route and played safe - preferred to invest in the flesh and not overpriced bar drinks!

interesting that the majority of sat channels were in italian and arabic (like 20+ in italian!) - all part of riga's new found popularity - italian hunters everywhere and pizza restaurants every other corner.

however - mongering apart - riga is a great destination with marvellous architecture and history. a bit of everything, as they say.

Riga is a nice and enjoyable city with a lot of bars, restaurants, discos and pretty girls but it never was a paradise for mongers with large opportunities like Moscow, Kiev or Prague.

It´s really amazing how the prices have increased so fast last 18 months!

Price for a good erotic massage was only 15-20 lats, price for 1 hour escort was only 50-60 USD (+10 USD for the hotel receptionist or security guard) and price for 1 hour with a girl in a private flat was only 15 lats if you speak russian or a maximum of 25 lats if you speak english/german...

During my last trip I was really disapointed by the quality of the few girls available as well as the quality of services provided by these girls... I´m happy I discovered the Baltic States in the mid-90´s, not now...

But I usually travel all over Europe, and I use to prefer girls from web-sites with some feedback on the Net. I know they are more expensive, but I have no time to look around once I'm in the city (I arrive late in the night at the hotel and leaving very early in the morning), and I prefer to have the meeting already set up when I arrive.

Yu're right that paying 250 EUR for a girl in Latvia is ridiculous (actually it's ridiculous everywhere to pay such a sum). What I wanted you to know, that income level in Latvia has rosen a lot during past few years and young, educated people do not have to work with such amounts you mentioned. I'm a Scandinavian working & living in Latvia already almost 10 years, so I do know what I'm talking about. This is not cheap city anymore.
