Hi folks

First time I write in the ISG forum

I have been to Riga last 3 weeks for some business. Economically seen Latvia in a desolate condition and the government may go bankrupt by summer if it does not receive soon a major credit from the EU. Prices are still too high in my opinion and will have to decrease sooner or later. I think most shops and restaurants hope that the summerseason will bring some tourist-money, and therefore they may reduce the prices not before autumn.

Well, lets talk about girls

I have previously been to russia and and could always find some freebies after some days. I have to add that I am in my late 20s and that I look not that bad. Moreover I speak some basic Russian which definitely helps.

If you go to Riga to find a freebie you will have a very hard time. Those girls are very suspicious of foreigners and I felt that everyone on the street was thinking of me as a sex-tourist (which partly was true)

During the day you can see amazing girls on the streets. However, if you think you will find them in clubs like Essential or La Rocca you will be very dissapointed. Here some experiences I made:

In Essential you will find about 80 % men and 20% girls. About 75% of men are foreigners from western european countries, the Middle East or Africa. Most of the girls are there with their friends or boyfriends and frankly speaking by far not that beautyful as girls you can see on the streets during the day.

In La Rocca there are much more russians. The proportion of men to woman is still very bad, about 75% to 25%. Again, girls are there either with their friends or boyfriends.

So, forget about that clubs if you wanna get to know freebies. The best option in my opinion is to try smaller clubs or bars or to aproach them during daytime in bars. This requires however a lot of courage and good communication skills. And don't forget that they have a certain foreigner aversion! So, its very difficult.

BTW, if you wanna pay you just have to go to old Riga between 8pm and 11pm and you will always find some girls who aproach you. I found that quite bothering though.

Finally, I have to say that I had some freebie fun due to some existing contact I had. Otherwise I would have been left stranded.

Give Riga a wide birth mate, the place was done and dusted 2 years ago, as for freebies, ha well, take your chance, these girls don't want to know us foreigners, the latvians have hated us coming in droves from germany, italy, uk, all full of sex tourists, if your foreign, they look upon you as a sex tourist, end of story. If you want to visit a beautiful but expensive place then riga is certainly beautiful, but if you have ideas about getting freebies every night forget it, Estonias the same.
