Can concur on that. Ignatzmice used to be a good resource but with new ownership it went down the drain quickly. Heavy handed and conspiratorial moderation also killed it.

That's a good point you raise and I didn't think of it that way. I guess that if one of them decline the though process is so would the other. I don't think Amsterdam is generally known as a big escorting destination either.

To be clear, escorting is a type of prostitution. Look like you are confused about the Amsterdam windows and its fate due to social and political scenarios, with other aspects of prostitution. Escorting is that type of prostitution where a "working girl" escorts you around in exchange of money. It can be for an out of town trip, event, dinner, night club or simply visit your home / hotel and provide you company including sex. The escort could be independent, pimped or provided by an agency.

The windows in Amsterdam and elsewhere in Netherlands / Belgium and other places are mini brothels, where a woman engages in prostitution in a small room, which has a large glass window / door on the street side, she being clearly visible for paying potential customers.

The city govt of Amsterdam, under pressure from locals and society at large, wants to shut down / reduce the number of these prostitution venue / rooms in Central Amsterdam near the station, and move it into an integrated venue away from the centre, probably in a less residential / touristy area.

In view of this, why would escort business or any other type of prostitution like brothels, sex clubs, street pick up or bar pickups or any other form of prostitution come to an end?? The two are unrelated, by and large, unless Netherlands makes prostitution itself illegal / unlawful. Why the confusion?

I have some great memories at la vien rose. Those windows / rooms right besides la vie en rose had some beauties in 2017 ,when I made most it.

No it's still open but it's a lot like this one https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asterix All of the small alleys area has been closed. The authorities have bought some of the buildings and when they ran out of money they have made an arrangement with a big insurance company (Achmea) to buy the other buildings. Well, they have a high bargaining power but one guy seems to simply not give in. So for that reason 'La vie en rose' still has rooms with girls. The girls there actually are better looking than before (was there only a few weeks ago). It's just that you have to walk all down the alley of Bethlehemsteeg to find two rooms at the end, then hop in to 'La vie en Rose' and have five more girls or so. If you don't like them you have to go all the way back to 'Oude Kennissteeg' to find other girls. Not many men will do that. So it's destined to peter out.

So true. I think there's still about 150-200 rooms available. Maybe 50 at the Ruysdaelkade and some 100-150 around the Singel. Still a lot, but the heart has gone.

Nothing much changed. No exaggerations from my part. Just to be clear: Sint Annenstraat, Dollebegijnensteeg, Trompettersteeg, Sint Annendwarsstraat, Bethlehemsteeg and Goldbergersteeg are closed now. But with these small details. Goldbergersteeg is closed for a long time now (still don't like it). At the end of Bethlehemsteeg you have "La vie en Rose" (Rooms in an indoor area) that is still open and two rooms at the end of the alley itself. They are very far from the rest of the RLD and therefore destined to lose money only. I expect them to close sooner or later. Around the church has still windows that are open. But the streets that were once the very best of the Amsterdam RLD are closed now.

Use google / translate and you can read everything about it. Just one extra: if you go indoors than you need a pass (E. G. Proof of Corona vaccination), outdoors you don't. Detail: if you are outdoors and want to pee indoors than you need to show your pass before peeing. Our government likes to joke around a bit. I suspect that the opening of bars after midnight might take quite a bit longer. It's not likely but if it is March '22 I would not be surprised.

You always enter the Stoofsteeg coming from a canal, because there is a canal at both ends of the street, haha.

Correct. Amsterdam is so full of canals, so those are not all that helpful with directions, haha. In Dollebegijnensteeg this was quite useful and that was were she could be found a few months ago, hence the mistake. She is to be found at the first window on the left, just having passed cafe "Stoof". On holiday for 3 weeks now, by the way. Smileys not allowed, not very helpful as well.

Brothels in Amsterdam are not the place to go, for sure. I have been quite clear here that the small alleys part of the RLD is closed by now with the exception of "La vie en Rose" or just "Rose" nowadays. I actually came here to report about the decisions by our government yesterday. There won't be all that much change until November. Except for the 1. 5 meters rule. That will be abolished on September 25th. So, more people allowed in bars and restaurants but closing time will remain 00:00. Discos and night clubs are allowed to open their doors just as long as they close them before midnight. Our government seems to like a joke.
