I found customs at Schipol to be easy to navigate with my Schengen passport, granted you'll be going through customs before you leave the airport and I would not expect it to take more than an hour. I cannot say anything about going back through airport security as I departed Europe last month out of Frankfurt.

Schiphol Airport has problems finding security personnel, just like many other airports after the Corona measures have been relaxed, so the lines for the security check can be long.
I think it's best to be back at the airport around 2 PM, or maybe 2:30 at the latest, if your flight leaves at 4 PM. Assuming you don't have to check in anymore.

Was in the Netherlands last month to visit friends in Utrecht I was in the Heer with. I spent a day in Amsterdam and I was already expecting disappointment.
